So, with that little revelation, can someone provide any justification for buying the Desso pitch based upon a needs based analysis? I mean, any self-regarding business wouldn't fuck a million bucks up the wall on other such luxuries, would they. Someone said 'the Desso pitch saves us money'. How, exactly? And, better still, over how long? Would anyone suggest that the million quid could have been better spent - on a fucking brace of centre backs for example? I mean, its not as though we were awash with talent in the centre of the back four, is it? And how many games, in pounds sterling please, did we miss in the last five years which justified it? How many goals did we ship as a result of a makeshift back four pairing of players playing out of position since we sold Maguire?

Try not to obfuscate again please by gilding this steaming turd of a conundrum by coming out with quotes from discredited and sacked 'spokespeople' and other such cack. Answer the questions please. And afterwards, tell me how much gained value the Desso has given over one season in league position.

Next, our overseas development and marketing executive gadgie. How much has he benefitted Sheffield United since his appointment?

Nice pitch, nice stands, shit team , 6 years in division one. I am totally baffled as to why Pommpey gets stick for criticising McCabe. He's overseen 6 years of decline and in any other business with shareholders he'd have been sacked years ago. It's his toy so that's not gonna happen here but how can anyone defend his record?

Nobody has suggested he's done it deliberately and he's obviously a very successful property businessman but it just apparent that he's totally incompetent when it comes to running a football club

Doesn't matter. McCabe is a Blade, and he is doing his best. For the next thirty years.

Again, great response. It's a hallmark of this board and possibly the club's board.

Biggest truth about the pitch. That and what should have been a Kell brook fight before the tripled g fight was arranged. I am sure you can work it out from here

... should have been.

A million quid should have been two centre halves. One, even.

Don't ask me to suddenly go evangelist about McCabe's credibility and some vague plan based on non-footballing events.

I care only that our team is good enough to be promoted out of this division. The greater rewards are further up the footballing tree.

A Derby fan has said this evening that their reserve goalie Lee Grant has turned down Bristol City today and likely to join Sheff Utd instead.

Apparently he's due to sign tomorrow because we want him to be available for Saturday's match.

He bought the pitch to keep Clough happy couldnt play the football he wanted on the not so great original pitch
Bought it with the cup run money it will probably pay for itself over time if Brook beats Golovkin could be a mega fight at the Lane also other events can take place on it concerts etc

Again, please don't read this wrong, but I care not one fuck about boxing or tiddlywinks or Stephen Hawking's Breakdancing Extravaganza at Bramall Lane. The money generated by the hard yards of FA Cup near glory should be re-routed into squad strengthening, not facilitating third-party events for select audiences. Why not stick the fight in the Arena?

And as for Clough ... somehow I can't imagine him fronting up to McCabe with his team of misfirers like Doyle asking for a crisp billiard-surface with which to lose games on. I'm sure he'd have wanted a Maguire replacement.

Im drooling at the prospect of another keeper, any keeper.
So am i then ramsdale will get game time and carry on from last season with england and u21's and george will get restbite from the moaners n groaners

Simples The Arena can hold 8,000 approx BDTBL could probably house 40,000 for a boxing event
even if theres only 15000 turn up it still dwarfs the Arena

With regards to the quality of the pitch it was said at the time the pitch we had was not conducive to playing the type of football we wanted to play under Clough

I dont give a fuck weve got the pitch now move on with your life ;)

2 new players....great!

Fancy pitch.....
1. means less games are called off.
2. Needs less maintenance from ground staff
3. Allows for use outside of football like concerts etc
4. Doesn't need digging up every summer and re laying.
5. Allows players to trust the pitch and in theory move the ball quicker/play better football. (This too works for opponents as well mind)
6. Puts the ground in a position to host other matches such as England U/21's, cup games and one off matches.

Million quid they say...well it costs 100k to re lay a pitch on its own. I'm going to say with all other revenue streams associated with it, that the pitch will pay for itself in 5 years.

I understand the anger of lack of player investment at CB. But the amount of money going down the pan every season suggests there is plenty of investment going in from KM and the prince. Granted it's been wasted on some dross, managers and players, but money going in isn't the problem.

Let's hope Wilder is the one to get it right and make full use of the fancy pitch.

Now then....where are these new players....

I know, I enjoy Pompey_Blade bants and posts but why are we discussing the Pitch pomps? We've just been promised 2 new players by marsh blade or marshjihi as we call him AND he sez they are both in the starting line up on Satdi, and Pierre's PC posted two reight funny gifts (how do you do that Ppc?) and I spit me tea out an.......

Well you get the drift

Look m8. If I can do it with my crappy IT skills you can. I believe in you!

You're the little clown that could :)

Funny old thing that. Because we flogged Murphy around the same time. People say 'the Desso money was never part of the transfer budget'. So where did that money come from, considering we'd flogged our best players for the past three seasons?

And, above all else, what the fuck warranted us buying such a luxury? Did we have successive seasons ending in fixture pile ups because of postponed matches or any reports of the state of the pitch affecting results? I mean, how come we sell decent players, have no money to buy decent replacements yet somehow have cash to spunk on a pitch we have just had one season underperforming on?

You say I ignore you on matters, Silent. Yet you fail to answer any of the above salient points. Try not to obfuscate the mater as though we have had a million or so slushing about the club we can't spend and decided to jizz needlessly on the Desso. I guarantee that the day McCabe fucks off this club will turn the corner. You still don't have an answer for the consistency of shitness overlaid by his tenure. He is the only thing left (apart from the fans and the ground) since we dropped from the Premiership and we have not improved one season since then.

It concerns me that the ground is part of a property developers portfolio, that United as a club appear to have a hotel and other commercial enterprises built on land that they no longer own or control. He who pays the piper calls the tune and we could be royally fucked. Of course that is only my opinion butI do recall the joy when we were released from the shackles of the Duke of no fuck who had a notice on every gate to the effect that no betting was permitted on the ground.

all I'll say is how can anybody think having a world class surface to play on is a luxury . its fantastic ,it will also result in less injuries and hopefully allow us to play the game the right way .
Oh sod that let's have a cow field .

( can't play good football on that quote !! the board backed clough just that he had a different agenda like accumulating fringe players fuck the first team we don't need centre
backs!!, unfortunately the owners backed the wrong horse again and again with Asking, hopefully we have got the right man this time.
