Why should the club invest in the pitch when it doesn't own the stadium?
 
Synopsis of the interview for those at work or whatever:

- Long and O'Connell aren't injured, just knocks. Expected to get on with it (it's a contact sport, etc)
- Not sure if he will keep the same team because we've lost two games now
- Should have got at least a point at Bolton and won in the cup based on chances created but there we go
- Still working on getting the players to play his way
- Fine margins in the previous two results allows us to keep positive and stick to the plan
- We are creating chances rather than being handed them, when teams have scored against us it's been a wonder goal and poor defending that has given them gifts
- In discussion with the board constantly to bring in 3-4 players
- He is asked how much of the Adams money he gets to spend doesn't give a figure, just says he has targets to bring in
- Wants 23-25 players (with some youngsters) to provide real competition which we don't currently have
- Has confidence in the goalkeepers we have and they are all outstanding players, but we are looking at it (goalkeeping) short, medium, long-term (inconclusive on whether someone is coming in)
- No movement on players we want to get shut of but expects 1-2 to go out before the deadline (says that there has been no interest but also says that there have been phonecalls)
- The losses we've suffered haven't been from massive underlying problems. We need more hard work
- Saturday's a big game

I think there's going to be a lot of missed dinners today now we're talkin' real serious issues.
I haven't got a clue about all the ins and outs and who owns what, but it sounds intelligent, so i'll run with it.

Ultimately if it'd make us stronger it's worth doing. And it would make us stronger, because based on Brayford's performances for the last 18 months, pre and post injury, we haven't got much to replace.

All goals have mistakes otherwise nobody would ever score. Does Brayford miss his header, miss a clearance or tackle...or is it didn't track a runner or lost his marker? There are lots of reasons this happens, but in the years I have seen Brayford I don't recall many occasions clear errors of ability like Bad pass have cost us. Not closing someone down and allowing a shot...yes.....not tracking a runner....sometimes...out jumped or outmuscled...most definitely!
That happens with every player in the world. Most recently our very own Kyle Walker for England was hammered against Iceland for not tracking a runner and apparently costing a goal. Ignoring he'd been probably the best player in games preceding that! And ignoring how team mates lost the ball and didn't put the crosser of the ball under pressure.
That's the problem with the pundit culture we have....they have to find errors and highlight it. That's their job. But it's a team game, and other than direct clear errors goals conceded are a result of errors in midfield and defence as a unit.

Brayford was on fire on loan. He was steady after that. But the fact he had the ability to do what he did suggests he is capable of it again. On one hand you say injuries to knees fuck up players, then you say most players come back without being a shadow of their former self.
I'm suggesting you allow Brayford to get fully fit, get a run in the side under a better manager and then see what player we have.
Because selling him and getting another is as much of a gamble if not bigger than sticking with what we know and have. And that is that he on form is the best full back in the division. And if we go up, that is also one less position Wilder would have to think of improving because he's more than capable in the league above too.

The mistakes seemed more frequent than they should be with Brayford and that continued last season with us.

Knee injuries do a fuck a lot of players up, especially players who rely heavily on playing a high intensity sort of game like Brayford did, and players who rely a lot on a turn of pace. So this sort of injury is likely to affect Brayford quite a bit, it's just that he wasn't really any better before injury - it's possible that was a blip but personally I think it was a bit more than that. Many players do come back from these injuries though, it depends on the individual. Although I don't think injury's the main factor behind Brayford's deterioration, his age and the type of player he was only cements my opinion that he won't recover his old form and we should cut our losses.

We'll wait and see what happens with him this season if he stays. If he stays injury free in a better team I expect a bit of improvement but I'm not expecting him to get close to the levels he showed on loan and look like someone we could rely on in the Championship.

At the moment because there is no feasible alternative. And because apparently we pay rent to do so.
