Id say very good 2nd half is a tad bit over reacting.

He wasn’t overly busy with defending, so wasnt in the action all that much, from what he had to do he looked steady, going forward again not overly busy, played more as traditional fullback.
Pretty much how I saw it too. Only watched the second half but he looked steady enough. Didn’t really do anything to make me desperate for us to sign him, but a steady RB is all we really need and the reported fee is fairly modest.

He didn't put a foot wrong though, not sure what more he could do though I'd agree he didn't have too much defending to do second half. Made 4 or 5 good passes into forward areas and got better as the game went on. As a full back he absolutely did his job.
Im not saying he did put a foot wrong, I just thought it was a bit of a over exaggeration for that particular 2nd half saying he was very good.

Didnt get forward that much, yeah made few decent passes, with 1 poor one but like I said looked and played as a very traditional full back in that second half and looked steady in my opinion (in what little defending he had to do), and as you said didnt do anything wrong defending wise either.

That's first time I have watched him (not watched the highlights clip), so im going on purely that 2nd half and calling it as I see it.

You'd hope the scouts based on that would want to see a few more games, with him actually more involved.

I don't disagree. First half he wasn't brilliant by any stretch but second half I thought he was decent, especially since he wasn't getting any help at all from his winger in front of him.

Maybe I've over-egged it a little bit but taking into account the level of opposition and competition then I was fairly impressed. He looks good enough for us.

For me CB would be the obvious permanent with RB preferable for a loan for the reasons you explained - maintaining the pathway for Seriki. Also we’ve just signed a development RB from Bulgaria!
Yep, but using a loan on what you'd at least hope to be a backup and presumably more defensive minded RB would be a bit of a waste if we're determined to be loan heavy and use all 5 slots. I'd prefer a solid player permanently

So you are advocating for not signing a champions league starting right back because we have an academy product who couldn’t displace Alfie Gilchrist for the first half of last season?
Yes. With Seriki it's a matter of fitness. It's a gamble but one we should take to a large extent because of the potential upside. I'd advocate signing an excellent CB instead

Didnt see first half, so can only comment on the 2nd.. which isnt enough to judge on if he'd be good enough for us. He would need more scouting if that was the first game we watched.

I understand it's champions league qualifier but the level of opposition again I wouldn't say is good, they were playing a team from the polish league (which I appreciate they won) but would they finish in top 6 in the championship no I doubt it, top 10 maybe.

For those (inc. me) that didn't watch, highlights below..

Based purely on this, I'm not sure I understand the excitement.
He looks quite limited.

I know your schtick is glass half empty, but I cannot see how those highlights show him being 'limited'. He looks solid is what I took from that. I don't see the next Cafu, but he showed a fair range of passing, went past a man once and put in a couple of useful tackles.

So did we want him to play well last night or not? Yeah we sent scouts but now they've won and look likely to progress.. that must surely mean we cant get him?

Suggestions we might have to wait until either the end of the window or until Red Star sign a replacement (assuming we are actually interested in pursuing it).

At the end of the day we need another full back to compete with Seriki who, due to the nature of his game, can't hope to not get injured for 46 games. That said, I think Selles already intimated he'd like someone who can cover full back and centre half so I can see that being Godfrey above this lad but who knows. If we want a specialist full back then this kid seems to fit the bill nicely.

Surely if they get through the next leg that kills any deal off? He’d want to go through and play in the champions league wouldn’t he?

Feels like the only way he signs is if Red Star get knocked out.

Stop muckin abarrrt Yoonited an gerrim signed.

Good age, good potential, and I'd like some more coments on our social media from international fans now that the Bangladeshi's will have gone

He might be a good player and everything but if we're spending a fee of this significance, and it does seem very significant for us, then aren't we better spending it on a CB given that clearly Seriki is the long term hope at RB and RB is only a one player position?

Signing a RB for big money would seem to relegate Seriki to a backup, start 10-15 games sort of player and that shouldn't be the aim for him this season. His ceiling is such that I'd expect these development focused owners not to want to block his pathway

Competition for places is good.
I'm guessing that the money for this signing was already put in place before the Anel sale.

I'm aware that's the perception of my posts, but I try to call things as I see them.

If I'd been shown a highlights package of Seriki I'd be far more enthused.
In fact, I thought Jonjoe Kenny looked pretty good based on clips in Jan and I'd have definitely gone for Jimmy Dunne as a RB.

Aa for my views on the clips, I didn't see a player with a high technical ability. He went long under pressure and a lot of the receivers struggled to control his pass or were closed down quickly under pressure.
Not many clips of him in advanced areas.
Quite honestly, he looks similarish to Alfie Gilchrist who I didn't rate last season either (Seriki, Choudhury far better).

Appreciate it's a view formed on very little, which I referenced in the post.

It does feel like at least some of the smoke being generated by this rumour come from this page constantly tagging #sufc when talking about this lad. Do we know if there actually is substance?

Not sure, but while Ben Godfrey, Charlie Hughes and Nils Z were all mentioned to RS in his press conference, I don't think he was asked about the Korean RB.

Not seen any video clip but you’ve persuaded me . But then again I’m sat in my garden listening to Barry Blue singing School Love and drinking a Campari Spritzer
