Exactly, the fact he can't even get on the bench speaks volumes. A lot of improvement is needed for him just to make the squad.

I would imagine more time has been spent discussing the Liverpool outrage (if it can be called that) than they’ve spent “outraging”

There seem to be a good number of people raging at the fact he’s a) not been as good as Brooks, and b) not been able to effectively play the Duffy role. On the second point, people forget that Brooks was poor in the Duffy role when tried there last year, to the extent it wasn’t repeated and Wilder felt the need to bring Holmes in.

It isn’t an easy role, and is very specific to the system we play. We tried Carruthers, Holmes and Brooks all there at times last season – none were successful, partly resulting in us changing the midfield 3 formation last year for when Wilder opted to pick 3 from Fleck, Evans, Leonard, Lundstram. Our over-reliance on Duffy is not a new problem, and not one Wilder looks any closer to solving.

One thing I don't get about CW is that why is Woodburn talked about as a number 10 aka a Duffy type player? He came through the scenes at Liverpool and Wales as a striker so why haven't we gave him a run up top?
