What a horrific defender he is by the way

Somehow got some plaudits against Hull because he for once did something he should've done, then got Lundstram sent off. Reverted to type tonight.

One of the worst I've seen at this club.

How he's been playing him over Bindon I'll never get. Because neither will be here next season, so it's not like we're planning for that. And if this clown is, then something has gone dreadfully dreadfully wrong. He's not even good enough as fourth choice.

Dont be too confident that he wont be here next season... all indication points to him being here, hes on a long contract and we paid decent money for him.

If we can sell great, if not then using him as a back up will be fine... Tanganga is another who isnt very good either.. id rather us try and move him on to bring a bit more money to table.

I'd definitely move Tanganga on, he's crap

It really won't. Him being a backup means you have to use them in the case of injury. Would you be happy with him starting if our first choice popped his ACL in September?

You do understand your mate jack is coming back 🤣

No I wouldn't, but i would hope we have more than 1 cb as cover tbh.

As said I really would like us to get rid if we can, if not have to make do as 3rd/4th choice, he would be "fine" agains teams that dont have as much quality attacking and are expected to be defending more & he sticks to head and kick it.

Whilst I agree, he wasn't our worse defender last night(and he was very poor)

I’m not a fan of the lad or Bindon that matter…guess we could say Bindon might push on but I reckon this is where we’re at re: McGuiness.

Hope I’m wrong.

UTB.

Trying to be objective, he was one of 10 outfield players last night who were awful, unprofessional and took me back to the Arian Heath disaster or the start of this season. A lot of those players last night don't deserve to be here next season, but we are saddled with them for another 2 or 3 years thanks to the great AI experiment and the blind Panic at the end of the transfer window. Not being objective, can anyone tell me, in footballing terms what the point of Chong was last night, he was equally as bad as any player in red and white.?

Bindon's gone at the end of the season. I think he'll be a quality player but for me it's like when we had Ampadu - it'll be another season or two until he's good enough for what we needed.

Given that, I don't think it's crazy for Wilder to chuck McGuinness into some games that don't matter and see if he can get anything out of him. Problem is, all that's happened is we've seen he can't.

I think he's being played because we probably won't get Bindon back.

So I think giving him game time to try and play him into some form. Whether that is to stay or to go.

Issue we have like others have said, we can't offload him without taking a whack off a transfer fee.

He's potentially okay in a back 5 with two pacey cbs either side of him but he's pretty crap.

Unfortunately he's part of the class of 25 which will hurt us for 5+ years

We could do with Millwall going up and hope they come back for him?

He was alright the last couple of games but last night's showing, alongside all the back 4/5, (whatever the fuck we were attempting) were dreadful.

He's a League One level lump, proved it again last night and proved that if we have aspirations on challenging at the top end of the table, he's not one that's going to get us there.

"I know who takes us forward and who doesn't" says Wilder. Well, hopefully last night is a big indicator for who does and who doesn't and that he acts upon it in the summer.

As for the rest, Burrows put zero effort into defending, Tanganga is no better than Jack Robinson who himself is utter shite and Hoever will be getting sent packing at the end of the season, too.

The ridiculous contracts last summers players were signed to mean that we might have to sacrifice more of our sellable players just to try and move some of them on, rather than invest it into decent players who can take us forward.

We absolutely need 2 x CBs in the summer. First priority for me.

1 to compete with Tanganga, and the other who is first on the team sheet after the GK. A physically dominating and experienced leader/organiser. That won't be cheap.

McG is cover.

The fact we are talking about this heap of shit as cover is a very daunting prospect

Agree with "two CB's needed" but they both need to be first choice. McGuinness and Tanganga need to be the two back-up's. Both are hideous together.

We also need a first choice goalkeeper, Sam Mc back fully fit, and a new left back if we are playing with a four at the back as Burrows is an apology of a defender.

Unfortunately we are also stuck with the useless Rothwell and the ineffectual Chong.

Lots to do fort he (hopefully) new manager.

If we can afford to buy more than 2 x CBs and move him on, I would be all for it.

But even if we can get 2 in, that means Tanganga or another is first cover anyway. That's assuming we play a back 4.

He’s a poor player but I did have a bit of sympathy for him last night in that Burrows just abandoned any defensive duties and hung him out to dry. Blackburn pulled him wide and obviously ran past him far too easily.
