The ship was sinking and he abandoned it.Completely agree but unfortunately that ship appears to have sailed with him at the helm.

If this had been the case I would have been more than happy to see him back. In the macho world of football has a manager ever taken a sabbatical? I can't think of one.
Surely that's a huge mark against him? If he "can't be arsed" to deal with players for who English is not their first language, then surely that is something he needs to work on? I don't remember Fergie having a problem like this, or Pep (for example) not getting on with English players, or players who don't speak fluent Spanish.
Football is a global game. Dealing with language barriers is part of the job. If a club/manager limit themselves to English/British players for whatever reason, then that club and manager are going to be at a disadvantage.
Should players who come to live and "work" in the UK be expected to learn English? Yes.
Should players who, for whatever reason, struggle with this (and let's remember, footballers traditionally aren't always MENSA candidates) be excluded from consideration? Absolutely no.
Ye but look at the state of a lot on here and it's hardly surprisingAlso I'm amazed that so many think that because he offered to resign twice this means he isn't a true blade

"He said he was talking to Alan Biggs who said that “if Sheff Utd offer an olive branch then according to him, Chris Wilder is prepared to return"Sheffsteel said:
I was listening to Talksport last night whilst driving.
They were talking about West Brom being relegated and they think Sam Alladyce might stay because they would be the main favourites for promotion next season.
They highlighted that Fulham have too many loanees and Sheffield United are in turmoil and need to get out of the habit of losing.
However they mentioned the huge gap between the PL and Championship.
They said next season the Championship doesn’t look particularly strong....so all 3 relegated clubs have a good chance of being promoted at the first attempt.
One of the presenters...not sure if it was Darren Ambrose or Darren Bent.
He said he was talking to Alan Biggs who said that “if Sheff Utd offer an olive branch then according to him, Chris Wilder is prepared to return”
I’m surprised this hasn’t been mentioned before or is it old news?
Would you take Wilder back? I suppose it depends on what alternatives we have...but it would certainly give the club a boost.

Don't see it in the same way as an "Unfaithful wife" thing as a previous poster mentioned
More a case of two people having different ideas on how the club should move forward
One who's methods have failed
And one who's methods are unknown
Can't see how they could work together again tbh
Fuck him! He went out of the bog window and the windows now shut!!If he was willing to return. Would he change the way he recruits looking abroad etc. Would he have a plan b if things go tits up. We all know how stubborn he is. I'm sorry but he's tried to resign a couple of times so it's best we move on and go for someone else. There's no way he will change any of that
Everyone's life would be a lot easier if they separated the Sheffield United manager from the Sheffield United fan.Ye but look at the state of a lot on here and it's hardly surprising
Let’s move on it’s proven he’s limitedA thousand times yes

Personally I don't think it would be possible to come back now - there would always be the niggling doubt that he wouldn't be able to cope with the pressure again unless that is he could swallow his pride and accept a technical/director of football - but I doubt that would be realistic
I would welcome Wilder coming back and pretending like the last 12 months never happened.
What stories? Some bloke on the internet saying what’s in his head?k. If the stories about "not being arsed" about players whose first language isn't English have some truth
Well, it worked for Bobby Ewing![]()
