Wilder will get more out of this squad than Selles and, at the moment, beggars can't be choosers. It'll be unpopular with people on here, but most fans will be happy enough.

Wilder is exactly what we need now to stop the rota and get us performing back to where we know we can be on the pitch. The players already know what hes about (well a lot of them anyway, and the newbies will soon find out for themselves what his management style is) and I think most if not all will buy into it again.

I could see the argument for change in the summer. The club picked the wrong guy to implement it (and in truth didnt help him til too late), its gone spectacularly badly, we now need to steady the ship and bring back a known operator for this level. Once things have settled down in 12/18 months maybe that is the time to start looking at a properly structured succession plan post Wilder, which i hope he will have input into. Even Wilder himself won't want to manage SUFC forever so will know it has to be planned for.

If he does come back it cements the fact that we won't be happy unless he is in the dugout.

Not for me. We need to move on. SUFC not CWFC
Absolute rubbish. It cements nothing. I want what’s best for my club and there’s still time to save our season. At this moment now he is the most risk free option. The anti Wilder brigade pisses me right off when they make out those who want him back care more about him than the club when frankly it’s the other way round. The Wilder haters would rather have anyone than him back. It’s has to be what’s best for our club and season right now and if we are honest enough the vast majority know the answer

He's the Veruca Salt of football managers. Everything's fine and dandy until he doesn't get what he wants.

It's a damning indictment of the board that now their chosen man is out, they're so lacking in imagination that their choice of replacement is the fella they thought wasn't appropriate 3 months ago.

Absolute circus act this board, especially based on current showing.

Majorities have been mislead by their own influenced choices mind.
But let's leave politics out of it👍🙏

if only you could do a poll specifically for those that voted No and see what their reasons would be and who they’d pick instead.

Majorities are far more often right than they are wrong. I just want what’s best for my club here and now
Perhaps,perhaps not🤔
I like to head upstream, the road less travelled n all that.
I share your desires, but see an alternative way👍

Let’s remember that we had a team being steamrolled every week in the prem. When we went down the majority of us thought we would end up mid table. He rebuilt a squad that challenged instantly for promotion. Yes it had its flaws and limitations but he did it in ONE transfer window with a few additions in January. True he made mistakes ( no RB and Cannon) but which manager doesn’t? The quality of the football wasn’t great at times but considering the turn around after relegation he did a bloody good job. The entertainment value could have been better I agree but some supporters can’t see that the turnaround in such a short space of time had us heading in the right direction when we least expected it
You are aware he was our manager for half of that premier league season? It's not as if he rocked up 2 weeks before last season started. He knew well in advance what league we were going to be playing in and could start planning for it. He had the 3rd highest budget in the league and finished 3rd. I just don't buy it as the miracle some like to paint it as.

He was manager with a woefully short squad and no money that no manager could have saved so that can’t really be levelled at him. Budget yes but what did we spend in transfer fees last summer? The ones we bought (Burrows, Cooper eg) have proven shrewd signings. Both Leeds and Burnley had bigger budgets and smaller rebuilds to do

I didn't say I expected him to keep us up after taking over Hecky. My point is, he had the luxury of time, to review the woefully short squad and start putting things in place long before the following season started.

Time helps but guarantees nothing though does it? Some teams had smaller rebuilds and more settled sides

We don't want you back!
This being the royal we!
What you mean is 'I' don't want you back.
Fair enough, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
The consensus on here is MOST, Not all, but most, do want him back.
Something you may (if it happens) have to live with.

I just hope all the Sheffield co-ops have plenty of tissues for both sides of the divide if he is back.
There's going to be a lot of friction burns ( use plenty of lube ) and tears to wipe away 😎😎

Would the better options actually be able to come in quickly and shore things up?
If Chris Wilder is willing to come in and kick some arse sharpish then I am all for it. Yes, God forbid if we actually went up would Chris be the one to keep us in the prem, who knows, probably not, but, right now, we are so shite we could go down to league 1.
Any change will do, at least we know what Chris is about and it works in the championship.
Under any realistic scenario, no manager is likely to keep us in the premier. Worrying about that when picking a manager is as fruitful as chasing rainbows.

I genuinely think he's more popular in the wider fanbase than he is on here (where seemingly over 70% still support him coming back).

Wilder would undoubtedly improve the team performance and get us climbing the table towards the playoffs.

But he has shown he has tactical limitations and is unable to keep his own emotions in check, which spreads to the playing squad creating a reputation of indiscipline, which in turn, portrays the club in a poor light. I believe, this is why he lost the job and why he should not be reappointed.

The board should show some ambition and go for Nuno Espírito Santo or someone of that ilk. If the board can’t match Forests wages, then they had no business buying a football club with the supposed intention, of becoming an established Premier league side, in the first place!

We know you don't! It's just that you appear to be in a minority (apologies if that is incorrect).

I’d speculate that it’s more of a lack of money than a lack of imagination.

Employ someone else and your paying three wages. Employ Wilder and it costs less.

These are corporate people to the bone, and they’ll make corporate decisions
