The fact that someone once played football at a high level doesn't make them an expert on refereeing decisions. It's like claiming someone's an expert on war crimes because they had a stint in the army.
Not all soldiers will have witnessed war crimes. All ex footballers will have witnessed incidents like Anel and Bowen. Therefore, their opinion carries some weight.

Except it wasn't a stonewall penalty. They were both wrestling each other. Ex professionals on MOTD said the same.
It was way more of a penalty than ours if were all honest, we would've been absolutely fuming if the penalty decisions were the other way round ... ex professional refs opinion:

Completely agree, but your original point is still wrong. It wasn't a stonewall penalty.

I’ll start with latest game and the claim that there was an assault on grbic. Their lad was stretching for the ball and Grbic was rushing out to claim it. It was a coming together and contact but no intent, it wasn’t reckless and wasn’t late as they both reached the ball at basically the same time. Mateta, just like grbic is just going for the ball. No elbows, studs, knees, kicks, punches etc.

There is an inconsistency with the application of cards and decisions so if thats your argument then i’m with you and/or misunderstood. But i don’t think that all those things are red cards or that other clubs don’t suffer from the same inconsistencies. I think most clubs get shafted with bad decisions regularly.
Not sure I agree with that. Regardless of whether there was intent or not, surely it was dangerous play, His arm has smashed Grbic straight in the face enough for him to require treatment for 4-5 mins.

Put that at the other end of the pitch and it’s mcburnie going in on their goalie like that then I think we all know the outcome

His arm didn’t hit grbic in the face it was his shoulder. Mateta was pulling away from Grbic. Watch the replays. Like i say there was definitely contact but it wasn’t intentional or reckless.

Mateta is a professional footballer, he could easily see Grbic position, and so twisted to ensure he could leave something on Ivo, whilst appearing to be blindsided. A shoulder into the neck at high speed risks breaking the neck. So never an accident.

It's not about the sandwich, the psychology behind it is very clever from Wilder.

Unless it's YorkBlade talking, then it's 100% about the sandwich, and he'd ask what he was having.

This thread is brilliant. Then tell me it's about a sandwich. Those taking the piss online either aren't switched on enough, or have had it go over their heads.

Champers has it spot on, IMO:

I think there is a fair comment in there from Chris, however narky some decide to take it.

Can you imagine Fergie stepping in to speak to the officials and one of them largely ignoring him and eating a sandwich.

They had a choice to tell him ‘not now’ and didn’t so he can’t have been interrupting them at an in opportune moment.

Just put Fergie in that scenario and imagine the guy just half listening and carrying on eating. It just doesn’t happen. Chris is fed up with being treated on and off the field as second class citizens and he’s made a point.

He’s narky but Klopp does it and it’s ’clever’.

What Chris did was nowhere near the ballpark of Klopp talking of replaying games when they had a man sent off vs Spurs. Yet it was done not for that game, but to affect future games. I think they got a fair few penalties not long after.

If the players feel some injustice too, then more the better.

So, why not? May as well die with your boots on!

He absolutely knows what he's doing and it's brilliant psychology. Installing an 'Us vs them' mentality. He knows it's not because of referees that we aren't winning games but now he's looking for any extra elements, any extra edge and sowing that seed of doubt in the minds of officials after those ridiculous Clattenburg comments. And anything to do with sandwiches gets high praise in my book. 🥪

They're supposed to be working. Do that in most workplaces and see how it goes down. I think Wilder made a fair point albeit clumsily. If he said "this is the highest level of English football in the supposed best league in the world" yadda yadda, it would've come across better. The way he said it could be interpreted as bit arrogant.
Wouldn't have offended me fwiw, I get proper arse on when someone at work decides to call me out of the blue when I'm on my lunch. It's always some jumped up prick who thinks their job, and therefore their time, is more important than mine.

Not sure he does know what he is doing at all. Our only league win since he took over is against a Brentford team with half the side injured, we're bottom of the form table since he took over by an absolute mile, any slight hope of survival is gone having lost key games to relegation rivals, were out of the cup and he's talking shite about sandwiches

This can't be true because I've read umpteen posts on here saying that Grbic never comes off his line, never mind rushing out.

Why do you answer the phone when you're on your lunch?

I never did,

You do have a very good point

It was only last week I mentioned to you YorkBlade about the worrying lack of sandwich related Blades content.

Glad to see you were able to take this up with the powers that be at the club.

👍😉

The moments gone now mate as only just seen your reply but in my opinion if you think that was accidental then that’s naievity in its extreme. He knew exactly what he wasn’t doing and this is where officials need to wise up

That was a deliberate assault by the fat cunt.

Wilder has quickly turned from 'over the moon to be back' to the whinging c#nt that soon fucked off when the going got tough!!
There's zero similarity between Wilder falling apart mentally in 20/21 and being annoyed that his team aren't good enough to nick one score games in 23/24.
