Wilder on Ched

Where did Chris say "McCabe didn't initiate the move", Luke?

Does this do it for you ? Wilders comments to James Shield and published in yesterday's stir .

" I'd have walked if Ched Evans wasn't my call " . Bringing him back was " my decision and mine alone " .

He goes on further , " Ultimately, it was my decision and mine alone to get Ched,” .

“I’ve seen and heard things claiming otherwise but, quite simply, they aren’t true. I wouldn’t bring in anyone I didn’t want here or who I didn’t think could make a difference. Full stop."

“If that was ever the case, then I’d shake the chairman’s hand, wish them the best and say ‘thank-you’ before walking out of the front door. Just like I walked in through the front.”

He doesn't mention McCabe by name but he does mention the chairman .

He also mentions the fee and wages that are being bandied about too .

" Ive seen some of the facts and figures being banded around about,” Wilder added. “To be honest, they’re so far from the truth, they’re laughable.”

Conclusive enough ?

Shield is making reference to the same interview we've all heard.

The point is that you're inferring/interpreting from what Wilder has said, as you admit. So am I.

Was Wilder happy with a proposed transfer when he took the job on, subject to certain conditions? Maybe. Who knows? Whether or not, the move hasn't been "forced" on him.

Anyway though, who cares now? Evans is here. Wilder is happy with the situation.

Doesn't mean though that we've all got to agree on every nuance.

Who says the transfer was proposed to him? He clearly says that if people tell him to sign players he would resign.

I'm interpreting based on the Cambridge English dictionaries definition of ultimately:

'used to emphasize the most important fact in a situation'. Which is that 'ultimately' it was Wilder's signing END

Anyway who knows whether the spaghetti monster exists, Wilder didn't say it doesn't so I'm going to interpret it that it does.

I realise you and one or two others have got an insatiable desire to endlessly keep on discussing the Ched Evans situation. I don't share that desire myself.

I stick by what I said yesterday. A fair few others made similar points to mine (including some who are far more sympathetic towards Evans than I am).

No he isn't . He's directly quoting Wilder from his interview .

But if his direct quotes aren't enough for you I give up .

Quite why anyone would want to create ill feeling and divisions right now after the season we've just had is something I cannot comprehend .

And if that's not enough to then go on and make claims that Wilder's either McCabe's puppet or an out and out liar is frankly astounding .

Translation: 'I stick by my silly theory which has no evidence but has evidence to the contrary which I'll ignore, and my theory is supported by other people on a thread which gives it more value, I can't take being challenged so I'll just play the poster not the post and try to take the moral high ground'

Your last sentence is a blatant lie as you well know.

Let me just quote a Ched Evans-supporting poster from earlier in the thread:
"I still believe it's McCabes signing but Wilder was given the final say on it. Also there's no way Wilder would be pressured into accepting the signing."

I don't think he's any more interested in creating division or ill feeling than I am. He's just expressing an opinion.

Opinions differ on this Luke. It's you who's trying to make a fuss over it.

How have I lied in my last post ?

A poster supportive of Ched Evans said this earlier in the thread:
"I still believe it's McCabes signing but Wilder was given the final say on it. Also there's no way Wilder would be pressured into accepting the signing."

If you want to endlessly argue about the situation, then take it up with him.

I fully intend to "endlessly argue " with anyone who directly or indirectly attempts to shit all over potentially the best manager we've had at the Lane for forty odd years .

And you've still not told me where I lied to you post #156 .

Translation: 'I realize that my argument (that has no evidence just 'I believe') that I have copied from a so-called in the know is flaky, so I'm just going to pass the buck and refer the flak I'm getting to him instead'

Dkc says the exact opposite to the above, why don't you believe him instead? I've given you the definition of the word ultimately which is 'the most important fact of the situation' which means that it was Wilder's signing clearly taken in context.

Yet you are determined to 1. infer that he is a liar 2. believe a theory which has no evidence that the board put forward this signing

This is important, because if he flops and unsubstantiated bullshit like this spreads around it will create a really toxic atmosphere, so it cannot be left unchallenged.

And also with others who've got no intention whatsoever of attempting to "shit all over" Chris Wilder, clearly.

As for the faux-naive "where was I lying" bollocks, read what you wrote again.

Why the need for all this, fuck only knows. There were endless hours of it yesterday.

As I've suggested, if you're burning for an argument about this, then take it up with other posters who've made similar points to mine.

By calling CW out as a liar , shitting all over him is exactly what you and othere are attempting to do .

And please forgive my ' faux naivety ' but where have I lied ? Or is the term liar an epithet you like to throw about ? Well , you've done it with Wilder so why not me aswell ?

I would say the need for this is because of you sticking your head in the sand, and not believing what Chris Wilder has said

Your lie is restated in your first sentence.

Your lie is restated in your first sentence.

You are inferring that the statement that Wilder made (that 'ultimately' meaning 'the most important fact of the situation' was that it was 'HIS' signing) was not accurate. Wilder's statement also means it was NOT put forward by the board to him.

You are thus accusing Wilder of at best putting out misleading information to the fans on a public broadcast, or at worst simply lying. That may not be your intention, but it is the implication of what you are doing and you need to be called out for it.

You put out an 'alternative fact' and now you're being challenged you are passing the buck onto someone else who said the same thing earlier on this thread.

Lying bollocks. Which isn't a good thing from an esteemed court correspondent.

See my post #130 (in response to one of yours by the way).

Anyway, future nonsense from you will be treated with extreme meme action. Or even gif action if you're lucky.

CW is straight straight talking.

He said it's his signing.

The end.

Not for certain people my friend, you only have to read this thread,Chris is a liar/taken one for the team/McCabes puppet

You are correct though in your post

Is that the best you can come up with? Just labeling something without a coherent argument? Playing the poster not the post? Adding a crap joke?

Your point is that the extent of the boards involvement of the transfer is 'ambiguous'. No it isn't because as Wilder said 'ultimately', which as the Cambridge dictionary tells us mean 'the most important fact in the situation', it was Wilder's decision to take Ched back. That should be the end of it, though I'm interested to see you squirm out of this one

Actually I can play the meme game too, this is you:

No it is not obvious, our manager has spoken today and put to bed all the silly rumours peddled by the likes of you and Alfreton14Blade ,but you will just keep banging your head against the brick wall,

It's not rumours that McCabe kept in close contact with Evans or that a previous manager went to see him in prison or that we tried to bring him back over two years ago.
The notion that Wilder woke up one day and thought let's sign Ched Evans without there being a well-known back story to it all is obviously nonsense.
