80000 Wendy fans desperate for us to sack him so they might have a chance of winning a derby game for the first time in 14 years?
I would hope our aspirations are a little higher than winning derby games. I know we are far too parochial as a club, but defining ourselves against them is one of the things that will always hold us back.

Some people on here seem to have very short memories. We were demoted from the Prem. after a season that still gives me nightmares .and the last thing we need was a repartition of that next season .
We began last season under Mr Wilder, a little short of funds, a fine of two points and a team that shall we say needed new hope, and we still finished 4th.
We now have new owners and three windows and a better chance for him to build that team that hopefully can hold it 's own if promoted

You make some very valid reasons for keeping CW as do many of those wishing for a change. I was delighted when he was first appointed and he gave us some great times, but he has changed as has football.
When he was reappointed I was indifferent. The manner of his earlier departure didn't bother me but after his problems with Middlesbrough I thought he was probably no longer the manager he had been.
To my delight, I thought I was wrong and thought his rebuild and change of style were excellent in the early part of the season. His squad rotation as injuries decimated the squad was excellent and I thought come January we would really kick on.
Unfortunately when CW has backing and more players to choose from he seems to become a poorer manager.
The failure to recruit a decent replacement for Souttar was a big mistake and his criticism of supporters after the Oxford game was a big sign that he couldn't handle the pressure. The negativity in our performances increased and his decision not to bring Holding up to speed mystifying.
At Wembley all the good and bad things about his leadership came out.
Maybe I'm missing something in the substitution rules but my first thought when Anel went down with a head injury was that we would be down to 10 men and to immediately swap him for Holding. Maybe Moore's error wouldn't have been so costly then.
I have been deliberating for the past week and unable to make my mind up as to whether we should keep CW or make the change.
Keep him and I still think we'll be challenging but not good enough for the top 2. Change him and we could really fly or we could fail miserably depending on who comes in.
Not that my opinion matters but I have sadly come to the conclusion that it will be in the long term interest of SUFC to replace him. I think we can go further without him.
If he stays I'll be only too pleased to be proved wrong and for next season to lead to automatic promotion.
Sorry for such a long post but after supporting the Blades through thick and thin for 65 years they mean a lot to me and just hope the new owners make the right decisions very quickly.

STICK- you never knew what you had until it's gone...
But you'll never know what you could have instead if you don't give it a try.

Sticking with the manager for nothing more than fear of change is not really a case for.

Not aimed personally at you, but why are so many of our fans scared of change and scared of progression? Just because it failed in the past doesn't mean it will fail again.

Spot on Tony 🤞👏 About time some supporters realise that fan power does make a difference :
Bryan Robson
Postecoglou

Princes mate reckons owners using AI for development only and leaving recruitment team for first team. Means no pace brexit blades will still be in force

We finished Third in the league 14 points more than Sunderland.

That post derby win rant was nothing more than him justifying everything but based hugely on the us (him) v them situation. Short sighted, probably 'in the moment' but totally unnecessary and disrespectful to a club in deep trouble off the pitch. The pub video - counter productive. The Americans would have been watching too.

Can't wait for a manager who treats our dear neighbours with respect, especially when they're going through tough times. Ground share anyone?

The point is, it was unnecessary and emotionally driven. If that is a metric of success, that rant and his other performances have been part of his undoing. Researching Selles proves him to be different in style, reflective and owning his mistakes, unlike CW.

There's more to football success than beating a sub par Wednesday team, even if the goal scorer is someone you've been hanging your hat on and desperate to come good for 5 years, then finally does what he's paid for in a 'big' game.

Can you tell me anything that has ever been said in a post match interview that was necessary? It was absolutely emotionally driven, which is what made it so good.

The idea that if you have a funny rant after beating the pigs AGAIN then it means that's how you define football success is utter shite. He even said himself, in that very interview, that we had won nothing yet and our season would be defined by where we finished in the table. You're intentionally misinterpreting it.

Myself, my family and thousands of other fans absolutely loved that interview and will remember it forever. The swine absolutely lost their minds over it and it'll define our relationship with to our rivals for years to come. That matters a lot to a lot of people, check out the pigs thread on this forum if you disagree.

I like Selles a lot, I've got nothing bad to say about him or how he carries himself. Was a class act at Reading.

It was very Keegan esc in my opinion. After that press conference we went on to lose 4 out of 6 and lost our automatic promotion position.

After that press conference we smashed Coventry at home in one of our best performances of the season in the very next game. Absolute madness to blame if for our poor form in the games after.

I didn’t blame, I compared & I stated a fact of what happened in the games afterwards & we did lose our automatic promotion spot.

After Keegans speech Newcastle drew both the final two games and people refer back to that interview.

The interview would be remembered fondly if we went on from there and sealed promotion, but we didn’t - as keegans would have

Benitez ‘fact’ interview against Sir Alex Ferguson- they actually didn’t lose the next 4 games but everyone refers back to that interview as the day he lost his mind and Sir Alex got in his head. Again a similar rant

So you're just bringing it up as a funny coincidence then rather than suggesting it had a material impact? Fair enough.

I'll remember the interview fondly regardless though.

I didn’t fancy being part of this debate post final whistle but I do enjoy the chat on here.l so I suppose I’ve inadvertently unflounced!

Forget your views on Wilder the person for a moment.

My take is simply this, if a young, newly assembled team finishes on 92 points, 23 points ahead of their closest remaining rivals in the division and broke the record for semi final aggregate only to fall at the final hurdle then this team doesn’t require revolution. It requires tweaking.

It just feels like there was too much to do in two windows.

Central defence became unsatisfactory after Souttar got injured and there was no permanent solution at right back. There seems a desire to get Dunne to join. Him and Seriki along with Burrows and McCallum make us good at fullback. Unless he signs a new deal we’ll try to move on Anel. But that money can possibly bring back Souttar and the likes of Mepham and Darling are available on frees and even Holding may be a fresh consideration.

The central midfield looks strong for next season. Arblaster, Peck, O’Hare, Davies, Souza. The latter I feel may leave but I also feel Choudhury may come in.

I feel Hamer will go. His contributions will be missed but I also feel the system used to accommodate him impedes the rest of the team. We’ve gone with inverse wingers of which he is one. I can’t help but feel that conventional wingers would suit a front two far more. Whilst we emphasised his individual play, I don’t feel we really supplied the forwards with a lot of chances. Recruit well in this area and we’ll probably get a lot more from Moore, Cannon, Campbell and Oné, not to mention if we actually played Brereton-Diaz as a centre forward rather than as a winger on the wrong side.

This season was exceptional with 2 x 100 point teams. Ipswich weren’t fancied to go up originally. Like us when we went up that don’t have PL depth and they will lose their star man. I don’t see them approaching the season from a position of dominance. This Leicester team has reached the end of the Vardy era and has supposed financial concerns. Saints were awful and a lot remains to be seen as to whether Will Still can create a revolution from one window.

I’m not sure ultimate failure can be classed as a blessing but I’d expect very assured performances from Peck, Arblaster and Seriki and perhaps more consistency from Brooks in what will no longer be a break out season for them.

The baby doesn’t need throwing out with the bath water this summer in my opinion. We were so close, the improvements are obvious and the summer is the time to make them.
Who knows whether Blaster will come back half the player he was ?
