A 2 year contract?! Find that hard to believe, but the official announcement on him signing said nothing about the length of contract.

Quite a few places reported that he signed a four year deal, though admittedly the official announcement doesn't say anything.

But safe to say it'll definitely not be two.

Always think the deserved adulation towards Hamer needs more context.

Agree he’s an important player but he’s no where near the effect that N’Diaye had, where all our attacks went through Illeman and when he didn’t play there was a massive hole. Also nothing like Kevin MacDonald or Ollie Norwood, who both saw plenty of the ball and used to pull the strings for us.

Regards Hamer, even last season he had many quiet games where he hardly touched the ball, he also gave away needless free kicks and struggled defensively.

The thing that makes Hamer special is the ability to score a great goal or provide a killer pass from nothing. Hamer can be invisible doing nothing or even playing poorly but you always know you have a chance of scoring a goal out of the blue with him on the pitch.

Regards Cooper. No doubt we’ll have wanted a longer contract but his agent decided a shorter contract was more attractive.

I’d be amazed if it’s less than 4
If they want a get out clause then they normally put a release clause, sell on fee in the contract.
Given his previous injury record I’d imagine he and his agent wanted a longer term deal.

…. Unless we were stupid enough to insist on a 2 year deal, with an option, because of the previous injury record
