When is it time for the tennis balls?

McBurnie tried that and got sent off
One man does not constitute a mob. If the whole team surrounded the ref at that point at Spurs he has a decision to make if he's going to send someone off, and the decision will be not to card anyone

Some soft shite on here, loved to know how everyone would have been that first year in top flight under bassett when we didnt win game until christmas and were getting beat every week. Might be the same this season but i dont doubt that they're trying out there, they're just not good enough, that's not their fault.

No point risking financial future of the club at a tilt at staying up. lets be honest the prem is shite. Its a closed shop at the top end, you cant break in without billions or being state sponsored. VAR means you cant get away with roughing up teams or scoring the odd offside goal here or there, or mcburnie smashing someone at far post and getting away with it.

The sooner the authorities get on with organising a european (world??) super league (which is going to happen without a shadow of doubt) then most football leagues can reset themselves and there can be meaningful competition. Top levels in most of the major leagues are just dull as anything in terms of a competition.

I don't think the Prince has ever been well enough off to own the football club. I haven't ever particularly wanted him in.i want him gone now. Luckily he also wants out. I don't particularly see what protesting /boycotting does?

He will sell up when he lowers the price. He can't sustain us indefinitely and the price will only devalue year by year under him with this squad now needing a refresh.

Any time and all the time, when you have a tennis ball obsessed Border Collie. There must be a dozen or more scattered around our garden - and they're all called Alan.

I'd love to see her reaction if she was on the pitch and all these tennis balls came out of the stands. She'd think every Christmas and every birthday had come at once.

Right now I'm still happy to wear my United shirt in public. We're not quite good enough for the league we're in and I couldn't be more okay with that.

I might have to think twice though if we ended up resorting to the type of embarrassing almost literally throwing the toys out that 'they' did across the city 🤢

This post hits the nail on the head.

They tried but they weren’t quick enough. Lack of fitness and cramping up before they could mob-up

The premier league currently has got more in common with the WWE, I’d rather the Prince not gamble with the club’s financial future trying to stay in it. So what if we set a record for lowest points, we’ll not hold the record for long before another club breaks it.

Really? We’re you there at the home game against Newcastle at full time, having given it your all for 90+ minutes? Didn’t think so. ( if you were in that tiny minority, then my apologies).
Thousands and thousands of fans preferred to flounce off home during the second half. I wasn’t expecting a glowing rendition of support after such a shitshow, and I’m no advocate of ‘happy clapping’, but a demonstration of solidarity on such a bad night isn’t a lot to ask. Basham for one, such a fine servant of our club, deserved so much better from us, on what was probably his last Premier League showing at the Lane in a Blades shirt.
I do agree that our support in general is superb, particularly given what we are having to watch. I also think that our team needs our fans more than ever right now - the players are at an extremely low ebb of confidence, which is badly affecting our performances. If you want a stark example of how confidence affects form, have a look at the England ODI team - players who’ve won multiple World Cups currently don’t look like they know what they are doing, simply because they have temporarily lost self belief and collective confidence.
My point is that now isn’t the time for futile and embarrassing protests . It’s time for everybody associated with the club to step up to the mark, and do everything humanly possible to win a football match. If we can get a win or two under our belts, restore some confidence and pride in our performances, and play to our potential, then we have a chance. That’s worth fighting for, isn’t it?
To be clear, I also said that the team need to turn up and show the same fight. I’m not abdicating responsibility on their behalf - at the end of the day, it is their actions that will determine our collective fate this season. Let’s help them to get that right, and they will then in turn help us to start enjoying our football again.
Up the Blades.
You're suggesting the fans should sit through an 8-0 pasting at home? Fucking crackers some of our fans 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Propper Blades stick by the club no matter what. No point in getting on the players' backs or the manager and coaches. Anger should be towards that prince and his board they have got us into the mess we are in. Hold on a minute they are never here are they, no statement or owt from them, just bleeding silence. typical that the prince is nowhere to be seen.

I’ve made a similar point about that season before. Not much in the way of replies other than agreeing. Now it’s protests, boycotts and now, fucking tennis balls. The stink of internet entitlement is strong.u

Anyway I was at SUFC lowest post war crowd game against Palace in 86/87 so My credentials are up there. Although I wasn't at THE port Vale game. 😕

We get it that some of you hate the Premier League, but that doesn’t mean the rest of us have to nod along whilst we watch every team under the sun roll us over and tickle our bellies.

Under Bassett we still put it about and showed some fight and desire rather than looking wetter than an otters jockstrap.

Why would we copy them lot? It baffles me, what's the significance of tennis balls in the first place!

Bassett was a very different kind of manager to Hecky.
Would Hecky have held a Christmas party in August? Cheeky don’t give a shit cockney, versus a bloke only doing his best with what little he’s got?

Bassett embraced being an underdog and his method of motivation was completely different. Bassett could convince a player that he was worth the shirt, even if the player was pants.
Hecky is struggling to get a decent game and effort from some good players. That’s the difference.

Opposition teams came to the lane afraid to get turned over by a lesser group of players under Bassett. Hecky does not have that cachet.

Hi Stegosaurus here

I'm a proper blade and I disagree. A proper Blade will criticise the players and the manager when they are shit. If the players don't want me calling them shit, then put some effort in.

I'm guessing you didn't see those years.

They are still the best for me in my time but they can't be used as a comparison for today.

The players we had and the methods we used simply wouldn't work today. Or should I say, wouldn't be allowed.
