Fuck that, it’s a common problem. If my U7’s and U11’s don’t pass the ball correctly on a Saturday morning then we talk about it, we find out why it’s happening, we do passing drills midweek and we demand better. If there’s still no improvement then we think about some time on the sidelines until it improves (u11’s).

Oh and my lot aren’t grown adults earning 10’s of thousands a week.

Can't even remember what season it was when Wilder said our passing out of defence needed to be better,it was that long ago.
Yesterday it was obvious what would be targeted as soon as they saw our team sheet.
We are easy to play against at home or away, all our Championship opponents this season are at the very least half decent, and they know that if they press us high and go down both flanks, they will cause us problems and have us pinned in our own box for as long as we can't figure a way how to get out of it.
The ball will keep coming back at us, Birmingham did it for most of the game, and Bolton will make a pretty good job of it in a couple of days time.

50% passing accuracy today absolutely pathetic and most of the accurate passes were backwards
BBC says 66.9%, not great but better than 50% (Cardiff 83.1%),

As for backwards passes, we did 42, Cardiff 71, they did a lot more attacking than we did and still went backwards more, that’s a meaningless stat.

Their total passes were 522, we managed about half that, 263, that’s a worrying stat, although you don’t need that to be worried about how bad we were, which was very 🙂

Chris says he is not to blame, " they are professional footballers etc " which to a certain point is true.
Yup

Then get some players who are athletic, coach them in a system that involves pass and move , at pace .

FFS everyone can and has seen the slow turgid side to side borefest for ages and ages yet nowt is done about it .

We are perfectly designed to turn over the ball on a consistent basis either through our lack of competence, lack of system , lack of coaching and the opposition simply pressing us into coughing up the ball .

And CW says it’s not his fault 🥴

I feel for the fans who go away to watch this rubbish - I only watched on TV and felt like smashing in the screen .

And before the usuals go on about entitlement and playing like Barca , no , it’s just about putting a group of professionals together who can actually play rather than a mob of meh , samey , plodders .

Rant over - time for my sugar puffs

This.

We see so many other teams come to Bramall Lane dominate possession and look so comfortable on the ball, it’s not a big ask for us to see our team do the same things…

Genuinely can't remember the last team that came to BL and dominated possession, when was it?

Edit. After a quick scan, Middlesbrough in February. Don't think a single other team did that season.

Boro last season is the only one I can think of off the top of my head, even then it was in spells
Yes, Boro were head and shoulders above any other team last season. But my point is more focused on our awful ball retention than anything else. We turn the ball over far too often, giving teams more possession than they probably deserve.
