It’s a tough call. I can only see him getting better and better. The trouble is, if he does too well, Pep will want him back.

Very much a future first teamer in the PL, probably for Man City 🙃

Totally disagree.
In order to play in the Man City 1st team you need to be one of the best players in the world.

Can't see Doyle ever reaching that level...otherwise he'd be ripping it up in the Championship already.
Man City fans see McAtee as a potential Man City player where as they'd love Doyle to play for them but fear he might end up a Championship player.
They see his ceiling might be average PL standard....and wish him the best. His dad was a crowd favourite at City so Doyle Jnr will always be loved there.

If we're promoted then I think we could get him for £12 to £20 million max, it depends what other clubs offer and whether we want to be involved in an auction.

I think Doyle has made progress with us. He did not get much credit from Man city fans for his loan spell at Cardiff, and the Cardiff fans were a bit Luke warm about him.
Players all develop at different stages. Doyle has so far seen the benefits of our style of play and fits in well here, just as Fleck gets a lengthy injury absence.
Doyle could still make more progress here, or develop into a useful squad player at Man City. No one knows!
He could just fade into obscurity, but I have feeling that he won’t. His pre season injury was unfortunate. He has all the qualities we need and he’s the right age.
Maybe Pep sees a future for him, or a profit for their academy. Too early to judge in my opinion.

I’ve said elsewhere that this season will see us go up automatically. That’s just me. I hope Doyle does well for us, and if we do go up, we get him for 5/10m. Nothing is certain. He could be average now, and then again he could be a world beater next year?

You seem certain Doyle is not good enough for City’s first team. I’m sure he is good enough for ours, with some to spare. :)

Sign him permanently in January

The club understood how Anel would be a worthwhile investment, they should with Doyle too

It would also open up another loan slot
As others have said we won’t have the cash it might be one to revisit in the summer if we go up city will probably want somewhere between 15 and 25 million for him.

I'd say that is a huge exaggeration

They'd accept single figure millions with clauses. I don't think they see him as a future first teamer

Quite where in the single digits I'm not sure, need to see him a bit more

All these Prwmier League academies are looking to be self sustainable and in many cases revenue generators.

The likes of Doyle will generate revenue for City. I very much doubt hes a first team.player for them but if he has a good season for us he becomes an 8-10m transfer fee for Citu with a buyback or sell on clause to protect them.

Knowing when to sell can be very profitable....ask Klopp !!

So far Doyle looks very accomplished, busy, always thinking, more than willing to help and assist, and most importantly, he's good at what he does. Arguably one of the best loans this season, what Cantona referred to as a 'water-carrier' but clearly possessed of really good ability whose contributions have so far made a positive difference.

The player Cantona called a water carrier was Didier Deschamps. Amongst many other honours, Deschamps won, as a player:
  • UEFA Champions League: 1992–93
  • UEFA Champions League: 1995–96
  • FIFA World Cup: 1998
  • UEFA European Championship: 2000
and, as a manager :
  • FIFA World Cup: 2018
Remind us Eric, how does this compare with what you won?

There was irony in my comparison. Of course it's difficult to quibble over Deschamp's achievements, he was a decent player who played his part in what became successful teams. Winning any of those competitions would qualify as something special, but to win all of these surely emphasises his quality.

I LOVE watching Tommy Doyle in the red and white, what a cracking signing, would love him to be permanent. Definite premier league talent. Perfect next to Norwood to be fair

Man city have some seriously good players in their academy. Lavia looks absolutely class at Southampton. Edioze I think will be very good also.

I tend to disagree Cardiff fans raved about him and the majority were vocal that he’d turned their season around

Erm Wednesday nearly signed him! Surely that trumps all those silly trophies?

I was having a dig at Cantona, who I like to think of as...wait for it...wait for it...Eric Cuntona. Fuck me, he grinds my gears 😡.

Doyle Looks a player who will have a career in the Premier League, will it be at a Champions League level club? Probably too early to say, he’s got good mobility, can make a tackle, pick a pass and good delivery on set pieces.

On the negative side he is very much all right foot, can see why Hecky still wanted Left footed Fleck in there for a while along side the other right footbed midfielders Norwood and Berge. But that is a minor niggle, for me it’s his shirt now even when Fleck is back.

I’m going off them selling Bazunu for 12 million this summer a young keeper with only league one experience before the sale. Now he was an Irish full international But had lower league experience than Doyle and you seem to pay more for players the further up the pitch they are.

I think he might be available this summer as he probably doesn’t have a future at city but they won’t sell cheap.

City got £12m for Bazunu who had one decent season in L1 behind him, £11m for Lavia and £6m for Gyabi neither of whom had really played any senior football. They'd probably want over £15m for an England U21 international with two successful seasons in the Championship.

Think we are all jumping the gun slightly here.

Don't get me wrong I think he has looked quality in the few games he has played for us so far. Emphasis on the few.....

I hope by the end of the year we are having the £15mill+ debate as it will mean we are playing in the Prem.

Long way to go in this season yet, if his form drops off a cliff we will be wanting to send him back in January.

Christ you can tell I am having a shite day at work with this negative outlook when things look so good at the moment!

James Garner just left Man Utd for £15m

This is what Doyle will do. He'll be a bit like Billy Gilmour at Chelsea, flirt with the first team for a bit, then go to someone like Villa, Everton, Southampton etc.

Need to see more before deciding he's worth above 10m personally

But I guess these clubs are able to extort. As we know

Be interesting with these new laws about hoarding players, how it affects value of premier league 'prospects'

Also be interesting to see if premier league clubs get their wish making it obligational for EFL Clubs to have X amount of premier league players on loan each season

Sign the lad in January, it’s the kind of signing we need to jump the gun on to avoid paying way over the odds if we did get promoted.

How in JTW much do we reckon? £10m with hefty add ons and clauses if he carries on this way? Solid investment i reckon

If we go up, think more like 20-30m

Who you selling to pay for him ?

Who you selling to pay for him ?

Agree.... if we want to spend £10 million in the JTW then we must also sell somebody for £10 million otherwise we contravene the FFP rules and face a points deduction.

Suppose we could sell Berge and but Doyle and Kone but I'd rather see what division we're in next season.

Best argument against signing him in Jan (if possible) is that this season is shit or bust and spending money on players who are already here for the season would be a waste

Ffp?

We've made a profit for the last 2 seasons, and a £10m sale amortised over the length of a 5 year contract would be £2m a year on the books.

We're miles away from breaking ffp at this moment in time.

Thought he was MoM yesterday so presumably he’d taken a knock or was knackered/ rested yesterday as there was no other reason to take him off and replace him with a headless chicken.

He seems to be becoming our pocket sized enforcer, makes strong tackles and in many ways he’s similar to Fleck but with the tackling ability.

Looks good on the ball, positionally disciplined and for me he’s one of the players that has to play if fit.

We looked weaker after he’d gone off

A doubt for Saturday 🤣

Thought he was back in training but just not risked Tuesday like McBurnie Fleck Baldock etc. Hopefully we don't sign him permanently.
