So, just got in from golf, factscas im seeing them (not caught up yet)…

1 we bid £7m
2 Sunderland came in with £13m via Klana
3 Leicester said full and final bids by noon
4 United bid £13m (deal)
5 no one else bid
6 Leicester have accepted the only bid submitted £6m up on our first bid
7 we have yet to agree terms with player so he’s not ours yet
8 no confirmed ✅

Someone’s had our pants down. Has Turry been doing negotiations?

I think we may have got played on this one if we end up signing him on a permanent deal. I expect the interest from Sunderland was a half arsed bid to get the price up on the purchase option of the loan.

Now we have been pushed into signing him permanently when we probably only wanted him on a loan to buy. I reckon Soton are trying to do similar with BBD.

Telling me he’s worth £13m? Not a fan in the country thinks that.

A valuation is a strange concept.

Think most would agree that Cannon is probably a £6 or £7 million striker, he’s good (at least average Championship standard) but not that good (no where near PL level). However we are desperately short in one of the most important positions on the pitch, so our club playing 10 million plus makes sense and is good calculated risk. Agree, we’re paying over the odds but he’s still young, could and should improve.

It’s a bit like being at a Glastonbury concert when it’s 90 degrees in the sweltering heat.
You’re desperate for a drink, you go to a kiosk and they are charging £10 for a small bottle of ice cold water.
It’s a rip off price but in those circumstances you enjoy the drink so much it’s well worth it…..you can afford it so you pay £30 for 3 small bottles of water.
In normal circumstances totally rip off prices but in the circumstances you were in, £10 a bottle is good value and well worth it.

Same with Cannon…if he helps us gain promotion…then his £13 mill asking price (whatever it is) was a master stroke as it will be a bargain.

Think you’re pissed off because you predicted we wouldn’t spend 7 million on any player. You always predict that we’ll lose every match and always predict we won’t sign a decent player. You disappear when we win or play well, then you’re a regular on this forum when we lose or play really badly. It’s odd behaviour for a supposed blade.

I can't see anywhere that it says we are paying £13 million for him. I think that's speculation based on Sunderland's supposed bid of £13 million if they went up.

We have put a bid in to buy him now, not loan him first. Only the two clubs will know what that bid is.
Can’t be far off that figure if we go up. Danny Hall says the initial fee we are paying is 8 figures then add ons, so it’s guess work but has to be at least 10m straight off, then there is the usual add ons like promotion etc..

Are you saying Bettis sniffed ketamine before the negotiations?

If we sign Cannon, I think there's every chance he bangs them in for us. He breathes goals. He'll make himself an option to our creative players, working the centre backs, plus he'll back himself to finish his chances.

We'll never know what we've spent on him. It'll be "thought to be around..."

We'll downplay it, rivals will exaggerate. I've already seen Sunderland fans saying they're glad they didn't spend that much now that we've splurged 13 million "not including add ons" even though all the tweets they're quoting or referring to distinctly say the 13 million includes all the bonuses.

No doubt Wednesday fans will have it around 17 million by the time of the announcement and 20 million by Easter.

In the past we’ve had Brewster and McBurnie dropping deep looking to pass and build up play. Even Moore often looks to pass before shooting.
So it be a novelty to have a proper striker, doesn’t think about doing much else apart from score, bit like Billy Sharp.

If we are paying that for him lets hope he's at least half as good as Brewster ;)

£10m might have prised Japhet Tangaga out of Millwall and he would probably have stepped up to PL level.
That's exactly the sort of idea I had - getting a good permanent CB is for me the top priority.
Loads on here were saying "sign Souttar permanently in January" (before his injury).
That was when we thought there was no money for transfers.

Our future permanent CB is Anel ... that's all we have , RND is flaky & Robbo is getting on - neither are tall enough.
We have no one coming through the academy.

I'm hoping the owners quietly have another £10m for a CB.

I don’t think clubs (I.e. Sunderland) would put bids in to drive the price up.
No one knows the structure of the deal. Not Nixon or anyone. But I very much doubt it will be anywhere near £13M unless he scores goals for us and we’re promoted…so who cares about the exact details.
He’s our no. 1 target and we’ve got him. Like we did in the summer the recruitment team are knocking over a lot of their top targets. This is a good news day blades, smile and enjoy it.

More than the pork have got to spend any which way 😂

Not many obvious targets for CB in the domestic market but it seems like we do mean business this window so it’ll be interesting to see who we target.
Owners surely realise that without Souttar we are extremely vulnerable at CB - I was hoping we'd add a good young CB even with Souttar in place.
Our league position is based on a great defence.

Plenty of people on here were saying he wasn’t worth 7 now 13s been accepted it’s oh he’s defo worth it great business🤦‍♂️

Nixon reckons Mackems was only verbal and a loan with obligation to buy if promoted - from the reports (which might not be accurate) it rather looks like we've bid far too much for a straight cash offer.

If it had to be a 4-4-2 then I'd tweak the back line a little bit...

Cooper

Seriki Gilchrist Anel Burrows

Brooks Hamer Souza BBD

Campbell Cannon

The wing play down both sides sure looks mouth watering:

Seriki ------------------- Burrows

Brooks ------------------ BBD

-----Campbell ------ Cannon

Personally, I don’t think Gilchrist is commanding enough to play CB

We need to bring in a big fk off defender to win everything in the air.

Hoping CW has him lined up?

I would imagine having read some stuff online that the headline figure is

£7 million to cover what LC paid Everton

£3 million in add ons to cover the sell on clause LC had

So from a Leicester stand point that makes sense although they make a £0 return but they don’t make a loss either

Could be wrong like
