Wilder said after Cardiff - “2 or 3 in, working hard on that”.

He’s just providing an update on what we’re doing transfers wise, no promises made.
You should remember that to many of our fans a passing comment can be equivalent to an 11th Commandment - a promise set in stone

It blows my mind how people seem to wilfully misinterpret comments made in press conferences because they're so desperate or excited for new signings.

Then when signing aren't made in the their desired timeframe they get angry.

People need to chill

Indeed. And when you see other clubs invariably trying hard for players and not getting them through, it's 'typical united'. No, it's just the nature of transfers generally taking a while to get through. Wilder, the new owners and everyone clearly want players through the door, but it's simply not a case of it happening when we want it to happen, particularly when other clubs want the same players, or owning clubs are in no rush.

Spot on, the selling clubs know its desperation January and want bidding wars so they can fill their coffers, and either sit on the Money or buy someone they are after.

the quicker the deal goes through the more desperate the selling team will be to do some business with the financial gain from selling player X.

you only have to look at the Tom Cannon case for a perfect example, last summer 7 Million was the price now they are looking at double that figure cos there are plenty of interested suiters, and while we are throwing around the cash, they may well have figured they can get more for Choudhury as well out of United, which is frustrating but very much the way in Modern football.

Wilder hopes/thinks there'll be be new players in for Tuesday or Friday. I just watched the press conference.

Wilder confirmed there's a bid in for Cannon, also saying all of our targets want to join us.

But he said same thing about this week and that we should have players in for Norwich game, unless it was all mind games from him.

He’s just saying he expects a deal to happen on a particular date, doesn’t mean it will happen.
He’s only giving his opinion…..he’s not stating fact.
Weird stuff could happen and it’s possible we don’t bring in any of our targets but it won’t be due to the lack of trying.
United have a recent fantastic track record of bringing in targets, so at least there’s reasons to feel optimistic.

I know it's not a perfect way of looking at things but I tend to look at the clubs around us and what business they have done.

Yes Sunderland getting Enzo Le Fee seems good (could also be horrendous) but apart from that there seems to be very little movement in the top 6 teams.

If everyone had completed deals I would be worried but it looks like we have made room in our wage structure (Anis and Coulibaly) and we were already light, it's just taking time.

I honestly think we all thought we heard him say it, but going back and listening to them all I'm just not entirely sure he did.
Mandela effect 😉 I'm sure I heard him say it an interview, the same way I'm sure Dolly was wearing braces when she smiled at Jaws in Moonraker!

I liked McBurnie but he seemed to spend every other game injured. we need someone we can rely on to get a run of games going

It’ll be interesting to see how Le Fée gets on. He’s barely played at Roma (who have been poor this season) and prior to this he’s been playing in Ligue 1, which isn’t a great standard overall. Could go either way, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if he’s a flop.

How many medicals do we reckon?
Hopefully just the one - if he turns up!
He played 76 mins for Stoke v Sunderland last Saturday and according to BBC match report it was a tactical change rather than injury related
He's probably twice as fit as any of our current players 🤔

Wonder if the progress on this deal is the reason why some of the other rumours have gone a bit quiet, BBD, JJ Kenny, Omobamidele etc.

There were some time constraints on this deal for a start as there was a limited window as to when Leicester could recall him from Stoke and there would have had to have been some serious interest for them to recall him.

I'm not saying we can't work on other deals at the same time but this one might have taken priority owing to the recall deadline, compared to BBD (personally think that's Southampton messing us around a bit) who's out of the team at Southampton but not under similar deadlines that Cannon was under at Stoke.

Great, just after noon
TBH, would he have even played if we signed him either today or yesterday before the deadline, JRS and Cooper were signed in time for QPR but didn't play a part, think JRS only came on for last 5 minutes or so.

Most annoying thing about this one is Wilder will start him ahead of a much more prolific Campbell when he's back fit
