They bought him from Everton. He was on loan at Preston.
He was highly rated at Everton but they were desperate for money (as well documented for awhile).

Seems unlikely Everton would buy him/Leicester would sell to a rival, unless they have clauses like Torrix1889 already said.

Needs must at the time - the sale of Osula allowed us to keep the likes of Hamer, Souza and Blaster

But

If the take over had happened in the summer I think Osula would’ve been a better option than Cannon. Just because Campbell is the supreme finisher, Moore is the target man and Osula could’ve been raw pace power and unpredictably with a potential higher ceiling.

Osula has the attributes to make it to a higher level than Cannon imo just because of his pace power and stature.

I think we immediately need better in the summer if we want to stay up. (If we even get up that is)
Osula to be loaned out by Tottenham, apparently.

I'm happy that we seem to have money to spend.

Spending at this level has to be successful due to FFP, high wages, the need to have development in the player to recoup resale value. There's also an admittedly unverified worry that there isn't a bottomless pit (see pigs and Rhodes). If he's a big splash for the owners it has to work out. I'm surprised some people aren't apprehensive at all when everyone knows that's how it works. Bill Gates could own you and be throwing his money around. A year or two later you could be screwed due to bad buys with Bill's cheque book neither use nor ornament. I hope we feel he's a top class forward at this level with a PL ceiling.

I've not seen much of Cannon but there doesn't seem to be a lot of alternatives either that are viable. He knows where the net is, has a touch of pace, has a good finish and plays of the shoulder of the defence meaning he should compliment Moore who as we know is a taller, hold up type.

Cannon can finish with either foot too.

Forget the fee for a minute and think will he do well for us now? I'm in favour. He's young still of course. Also if he goes to Sunderland and gets them promoted instead we'd all be saying we were gutted he didn't choose United.

He was our number one striker target in the summer and was coming b4 the plug was pulled. The recruitment team and CW/AK had done their homework and he's since proved he can score at this level. What's not to like? Ignore the price, you have to stump up for goalscoring strikers and if we can afford it then it's not our concern.

Incidentally there were rumours about Bournemouth being interested in Campbell so this would help protect against him leaving late in the window

Agree…some of our fans want us to spend…spend….spend….lets take the credit cards to the max.

However once the dust has settled….you realise you’ve built up huge debts and might be facing a points deduction due to struggling to meet the FFP ruled.
It will be the same fans complaining about a lack of ambition that will be complaining we’ve wasted money and been foolhardy overspending.
If we’re not promoted then next season sees a large drop in income…..so in order to survive we’ll need to sell 2 or 3 of our best players.

Imagine the melt down if and when this happens…..but clubs aren’t allowed to effectively cheat….by building up massive debts.
It’s essential we get the balance right between being ambitious and running the club properly within the FFP rules.
Suspect the solution relates to carefully crafted imaginative clauses within a contract, hence the long drawn out negotiations.

Correct. I was comparing him to Alex Iwobi though, wasn't I. Alex Iwobi is fast.
Are you saying players need pace to score goals and therefore we need a pacier signing than Cannon,or have I missed your point entirely 🤔
Not unfeasable👍

Overpriced in your opinion. The obvious counter is clearly not if someone deemed it worthy of paying it.

Either way it's completely irrelevant it's quite easily evidenced for most reasonable unbiased people is that we've consistently got good prices and value when we've sold players recently.

It’s my point in a roundabout way. I don’t hear those people currently upset about 7 or 13 million being outraged at how we ripped off Celtic, Leeds and Plymouth at the time.

Very much agree.

There’s a fair amount of Stoke fans saying…..he’s not tall/ big, not good in the air, not quick, no creativity, also appears a bit lazy.
They say he’s a bit crap…..apart from he has a good shot in him and knows where the back of the net is.

They have a theory that in a poor side then Cannon offers little. Where as in a good side that creates chances….he’ll thrive.
However they do say he’s probably not PL standard, so if us or Sunderland are promoted, then he’d probably need loaning out to a Championship club.
They think he’s good (probably worth 6 million or so) but he’s not that good and not worth the 13 million Sunderland are bidding.

Others joke that Stoke City is a graveyard for strikers…..so he should be alot better once he leaves Stoke. Its tricky to judge how good he is.
In theory, everything you've described there could also be aimed at Campbell - but he's done what he needs to when fit and scored goals. Would Campbell offer what we need if promoted? possibly not, but right now its about getting promotion. I remember a certain William Sharp who wasn't particuarly fast, poor in the air and sometimes looked out of the game - did ok for us...

With all respect towards Hal, I’ll build my view based on people who have seen him play. We’ve literally got a stoke fan on this thread saying he’s worth nowhere near 7M.. let alone 13m.
Fair enough, but fans don't influence clubs purchases do they.?
It's still only his opinion,even if it's first hand🤔.
In the end players are worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay.
Value is subjective👍

Has anyone actually confirmed Nixon is a real person? At least we’ve seen the Fabrizios and the O’Rourkes.

TBF Iwobi was a surprising comparison, albeit probably faster than most of our players. I did wonder if Adder meant Traore, his Fulham team mate, which might have made the point clearer(?).
