Chris Wilder has been managing for 19 years straight. does he need time out of the game to regroup, rethink and re energise????????

Despite all the bollox about whether any of us have any idea what we're talking about because we've never managed a professional football team or something, the uncomfortable truth is that if one of us cunts had been in charge all season, it's unlikely that we'd be doing worse.
I’d definitely not be playing a 5-5-0 formation

I think I'd go with. 'I know you believe in our system, and that that is the way out of this. Thing is, surely you have to admit that we aren't even playing our system? We're now basically playing playing with a back 5, a holding midfielder and our front two dropping deeper and deeper. We need to give the team the freedom to attack and create our trademark overloads. If that means conceding more, so be it. We can only stick to our system by embracing it fully and everyone buying into it. If we can't achieve that with current personnel, then it's time to change it up. Either believe in it fully or drop it.'

I'd tell him advice, and a wise person would be open to change and listening to others.
Anyone who thinks they've made it, and don't need to listen to others, even outside of their profession, sets themselves up to fall.
Very true, but I'd suggest a wise person listens to the informed opinion of wiser people, be that young or old, of any creed. Perhaps though they shouldn't actively seek said wisdom in a boozer or a fan's forum.

This is actually a good question.
there are certain things (formation being the big one) that I think he is getting wrong. But I have zero experience of football management and have no idea what’s really going on in the club.

If CW came in to my place of work and started to tell me all the things he thinks I’m doing wrong I would ask him for his experience/qualification in my field and then politely tell him to mind his own.

Therefore no I wouldn’t say anything.
True, although his present performance based on our form is akin to you rocking up to your office everyday, shitting in the photocopier and shutting lid then wondering why you’re not getting a performance bonus.

Genuine question.
I know you like to give your views on the current situation, on here, but if asked, would you share that advice face to face with Chris if given the opportunity?

Yep. But for what it's worth and in reciprocation, I don't doubt his evaluation and advice to me on Operating, Maintaining, Diagnosing and Repairing Naval Marine Power and Propulsion, High and Low Voltage Distribution Systems, Ship Services and Hull Systems and training therein would possibly be as much use as tits on a snake. But then again, I am in my fifth decade of this. CWAK have almost twice as much as that in football alone.

No one is imagining any of us are qualified enough to advise Chris Wilder and Alan Knill. As I have said, if either of them went on here and had a conflab saying 'Hey, seen what pommpey said on S24SU? Let's take great heed of what he says' then this club is in the shit.

I get what your tack is here, knowsnowt. You're basically calling us forum tacticians and experts out ranged against Christ Wilder and Alan Knill's vast experience in and around the game. Fill your boots. They win, and always should win. Well, 'win' in this context anyway. So far this season in the context that matters, maybe not.

Wilder needs to take rest of the season off. Come back with a new plan for the new championship season. Let some poor coach take blame for rest of our defeats.

You do know on a football forum people do have opinions that differ from you.

Maybe most who have the views they post would speak to chris face to face.

Some probably would be ass kisses tho.

Yes. And my suggestion if I could talk with him would be along with AK take a sabbatical and look at some continental coaching methods. Look to recruit some good talent from lesser countries where they may be cheaper. I mean a proper sabbatical so he can come back in May and implement them.

My concern with Wilder is:

1. How can he effectively go from hero to zero so quickly ie what are they doing that is so wrong? (mind relying on a 'boro/Arsenal type strategy is fraught with dangers - unless you are ancient this will mean sweet fa to you but some will recall big Jack at 'boro and Graham at Arsenal)

2. He has spent a lot of money on attacking duds

Now either they were crap or somewhere along the line there is a disconnect. Surely Brewster and McBurnie both haven't lost the ability to score goals. But hell it is proving immensely difficult.

1. I don't think Chris has gone from hero to zero, most fans on here realise we overachived last season and have some perspective.

2. Do you really think he would spend so much money on strikers if they were crap?

Tbf on Brewster he hasn't had the minutes or service.
Pretty sure the commentator v Southampton said Che Adams didn't score in his first 20 games, but I think we'd all take a Che right now.

In fact, the next time I go past his house and he’s in his gym, I might shout and ask him what the fuck is going on ? Then when he comes after me I’d shout 4-2-3-1 with Didsy in the hole and run off. Does that amount to advice ?

Doesn't make sense really as I'm asking for opinions of others right here. 🤔

I can't think of too much to ask him that he hasn't answered in previous interviews. He's very revealing on his values and the way he sees the game. I agree with his opinion on why we are where we are, and completely understand his current inflexibility as I think, apart from maybe going one up top and packing the midfield, we're snookered. I've still got a couple of questions I would ask if I could:

Why haven't we made a large investment at LCB when everyone knows the importance of this position, and we looked to be attempting to do that with the loan of Restos (lad we had on loan with a view to a permanent last season).

Do you regret not bringing in a centreback capable of partnering Egan in a back four, or a centre midfielder capable of covering space so we can change the midfield shape?

Do you agree that these are the major reasons we can't change shape?

Do you think we invested too much of the budget on the keeper?

Why do you/the board give such long contract extensions to ageing players? (Sharp, Didzy, Stevens, Clarke etc).

Wilder did listen to you all last week and gave way to your expert opinions by playing Billy Sharp.

That worked out well.
Ok first things first if you didn't watch the game or pick up the highlights I can understand your comment and it comes from a stance of ignorance in how the game was played but I would ask you to at least watch the game in future before passing ignorant comments.
However if you did watch the game that you have stooped to even make a comment like that shows a shocking grasp of football, now once again if you have any sort of educational difficulty I can understand it but I suspect not.

Did Sharp play, I also must have missed him?

Well £40m and 7 goals isnt that great. And if you add Mousset and Robinson/Burke as well it gets a bit more odd. What 4 players all strikers and that sort of return.

The issue isn't really are they crap more wtf is happening that turns them from goal scorers to pretty useless. Perhaps Sheff U? Dunno. V odd.

Brewster needs to be on from the start. if he scores one tomorrow against man u.more goals will come for him. summat like waiting for a bus and four come at once.
Assuming he is picked of course.

He and McBurnie did the only things of note in the first 30 minutes (which was robbing the opposition of the ball), it must be a strange existence that you guys live sitting in front of the match with your eyes closed, mind you that was the best way to watch it but it does explain why you don't know what happened during the game.

Brewster needs weaning in slowly throwing him on as soon as we purchased him has hindered him, more time against top quality defenders will do him no good. Let McGoldrick take the brunt of the game with Sharp, bring Brewster on between 60 to 70 minutes more than enough time to get his legs.
