Match day parking

I'm in the UK for the wolves match and have got a ticket for the match which I 've printed out. More on this later.

I 'll be driving in from Holmfirth that morning and wondered how parking is around the Lane these days. It was never easy parking and I always used to arrive a couple of hours before ko and park in the spaces close to the Nelson. I'm not sure that would be advisable these days.
My thoughts are to drive to Meadowhall, park there and then get either the train to the railway station and walk on from there, or get the tram. I don't know where the tram goes to from Meadowhall though.
Advice on what is best alternative please would be much appreciated. Train, Tram or parking near to ground? And if I drive to centre is there any clean air charges these days?

Regarding the printed out ticket. If has a QR code on it. I'm going to be in family stand. So If you see a bald bespectacled old man swearing at the turnstile there please be patient and understanding. As current technology and myself do not get on at all well. I'm assuming I will have to scan this somewhere at the turnstile.. And as Mrs DJ will confirm whenever we go through airports I ALWAYS cause hold ups at this point as it NEVER Fucking works for me.
How has anyone else found this operation? Good? Bad?

I share a car from Harrogate and we always (usually) park at the Valley Centertainment P&R - then get the tram to Castle Square. There's always plenty of space at the P&R - unlike Meadowhall P&R which was often pretty full.
It helps that we travel for free on the tram

I don't drive anymore, but when I did in later times it was always Meadowhall and the train in.

About £4 train fare, regular trains, and eight minutes or less to Sheffield station.

From holmfirth wouldnt middlewood park and ride be easier, plenty of parking and tram into centre

When I was in the UK, I'd be travelling up from the Midlands so would use the park.and ride at Halfway.

Always easy to park, or at least used to be, then a relaxing tram ride into the centre.

You wouldn't do that in Birmingham as you'd end up with your head on a stick!

I alwaused to use Milton st car park myself. Plenty of spaces, reasonable price and quick getaway for those heading north.

If you wanted to park at Middlewood tram terminus I would be happy to take you to London Road, where I park, and deposit you back at Middlewood afterwards.

DJB, don't drive into the city centre, it's just not worth it. I live in Silkstone Common and usually get the train in (Huddersfield to Sheffield train). If I'm driving, Middlewood park and ride is the best to use, usually loads of space and it's free. The tram is free too, if you're an old codger like me, and have a travel pass.

I do have a travel card but it's a metro one issued by West Yorkshire. Is that usable on the tram?

I use a North Yorkshire Free Pass on the tram - so I imagine yours will be ok

If Grey Blade says p+r at meadowhall is busy. I'd just park in Meadowhall carpark itself , at that end.
Train into the station or tram either is easy.

Park in one of the side roads near the Banner Cross and get the 88 bus down. Or is it the 82? They changed all the feckers. 88 used to go from Fulwood to Nether Green to Hunters Bar to Ecclesall Road to town. Feck knows where it goes now.

You get the added advantage of seeing Wilder dancing on tables and getting sloshed, post match. Or so some posters would have you believe.
