Anyone else think the Prince could just be another patsy for McCabe and his failings?

Bring a guy in, promise the fans ‘game changing investment when we’re in the championship’, bottle it, then Prince (pbuh) tells KM he will do a better job of it, KM probably knows it, bottles it again and then starts blaming the Prince (pbuh). All the while, because McCabe is a Blade and the Prince (pbuh) isn’t, fans side with McCabe.

Clever.

McCabe gets rid of the Prince (pbuh), all seems rosy again because we aren’t changing our name (haha as if) or moving to a new stadium just off the parkway.

Then McCabe sells Fleck and Brooks to Bournemouth and Watford for a combined fee of around £3m because “the big clubs come calling” and we eventually get relegated again because of ‘bad luck’, all the while Wilder is doing a grand job of getting Ipswich to the top of the league because he’s got a box of curly wurly’s instead of just the one, while our journeyman waste of a manager (pick one) struggles to get the best out of our flock of Coventry and Northampton rejects and/or premier league youth loans like James Wilson and John Cofie.

Go on, admit it, that all sounds plausible doesn’t it?

Well I did pen a satirical piece along the same lines when he came in. Can I assume the (pbuh) is also satirical?

We are flogging a dead horse here but I think it's important so I'll show you where you misunderstand the fundamental objectives of my suggestion. See post 37 from above as re-quoted below.

Wrong quote so I'll add it to a fresh post.

Right. My major worry right now is Objective No. 1 on there: To keep Wilder. My concern is that the prince has different ideas for the club and Wilder doesn't quite fit in. As I say above, if McCabe prevails then we have no problem. So a show of solidarity from fans has a dual purpose - another message to Wilder himself when he may have other serious options and a message to the prince for the medium and longer term. 5000 signatures would make anybody think twice.

Objective 2 is to emphasise the importance of this summer and early dialogue with the manager. Not necessarily with us because Wilder communicates well with his fans.

Objective 3 is self explanatory.

You say Wilder is his own man and of course he is. If he has decided to leave then it is likely worries about the prince in the future. I honestly don't believe it's just about money and if it is then the club should bridge any gap.

Fan power can work and in this case would be a timely boost to show Wilder solidarity and to remind the prince we matter and demand we keep our manager. It could also strengthen McCabe's resolve too. What harm would it do? The least it would do is set up a communication channel which could be exercised in future.

I am mindful of your relationship with the club and how it benefits the forum but done properly anybody will appreciate the good of the club is our motivation.

Time passes and I've given up on this but you did ask!! I'm sorry I never got through to you that it could not ever be about the ownership negotiations but I've emphasised that in every post.[/QUOTE]

What I get from all that is that you are concerned that the Prince will win control and that Wilder will go and in the meantime there is a danger of him going anyway due to the uncertainty of who will eventually prevail, or because there is no firm budget to work to. All of which, to my mind relates to ownership and the fact that you would prefer McCabe to prevail, otherwise why your reference to sending a message to the Prince?

If I've missed anything no doubt it will be pointed out. I don't think you can influence such matters. Just an opinion.

Thank you for all that effort Snowman. In response to your conclusion, my whole focus is on helping us to keep Wilder :

By making the effort to accumulate thousands of names on a letter or petition with 3 audiences - the manager himself, yes he knows but it doesn't hurt to re-inforce our commitment to him and strengthen his negotiating stance. - the prince, whether he prevails or not there is the short term budget and then then if he does prevail we 'demand' he keeps Wilder and works with him to take the club forward - KM, if he has 'new investors in the wings', get on with it before Wilder leaves.

In actual fact my first preference would be for the prince to prevail as KM has done enough over the years and clearly is uncomfortable with his past levels of lost money. The prince to prevail and give Wilder a boost with a new improved and longer contract plus a commitment to back the manager's vision, that would be perfect.

My suggestion has always been to send the message to each of the current owners. All this has been said more than a few times over the past 2 weeks or so. That's not a criticism Snowman, it's just how things are on a forum with so many posters contributing in their own various ways. I have never said this is about the negotiations over the future ownership of the club, they have to take their course but the summer budget has to be set urgently.

Solidarity and open support for our manager by large numbers of fans can influence either or both of the owners and our manager right now, even if our manager has other tempting options.

It does indeed...

Apologies if I've missed this WWF but I don't have time to trawl the hundreds of threads on the subject but, has anyone actually said that if the prince "wins", wilder will leave for certain - or is it on the back of that bullshit thread about the "overstepping the mark" rumour?

Plus the fact that the gist of what McCabe said to shareholders that he and Wilder were resistant to the Van Winkel role that the prince envisages, plus snippets from what Wilder has said in that connection. Plus the obvious concern about McCabe leaving, the man who acted boldly to get Wilder here, snatching him off Charlton and sacking Adkins to make way. Plus the natural concern about foreign owners being dependant on advisors who always want to change things and rake off fees on the back of change. Plus the fact that foreign owners rarely understand the culture and Saudi is not a good match with S2. The 'crossing the line' article with quoted contacts rang true to me actually, not just a rumour by any means.

So little, if any, actual fact?
I honestly wasn't being antagonistic, I just didn'tknow whether it had actually been stated.

I didn't take it as 'antagonistic' in the slightest. It was a good question.

My response is what I base my feelings/ instinct on. I am not usually far off may I say.

This thread has lost the sharks for whatever reason. Can't think why. Dare I say, Is it substance?

Who'll sign a petition with me to stop this crazed incessant bullying of a dearly beloved member of this forum, whose only means of defence is to ban the nutcase. That alternative being open to him only because he's one of the site owners and that.

Raul. You are a man of substance. Is there any way you think we fans can tell our manager how much we support him and also tell our owners to get their fingers out, inspire the man and back him?

Wilder is like a 'golden bolt from the blue', a 'messiah to take us out of the wilderness'.

Raul. Are we doing enough to inspire him, to keep him?

Are you leaving it at that Foxy ? No merit in any show of support for Wilder then?

So I ask again, what are we having a petition for?

Your aim is now confirmed at showing support for Wilder.

Personally, I think that both "sides" are aware of the fans thoughts on Wilder, one certainly wants to keep him, one has made noises that he does.

Wilder is still our manager, nobody has signified intent to change this specifically, so what are we petitioning against?

If your suggestion is then to show support rather than directly trying to petition something, then again, I'm confused as to what I'm supposed to be doing...

I've provided you with a platform to discuss this and look to rally whatever support you wish to, a show of support would simply require delivering to the Lane marked for the attention of Kevin/The Prince/Chris or alternatively emailed to them. People close with both parties do read and digest what is posted here also (sure they love some of the rot ;)).

So what else is it that I'm not doing?
