The Star: An open letter to Sheffield Utd owners

Good letter from Danny, and one I feel every Blade of every type and creed will endorse. Will it hit the mark? Doubtful.

McCabe and HRH have their own fish to fry, and they aren't for salting and relishing for the consumption of the cabbages who populate the seats in the stands every weekend. Seems this little exercise is typical of McCabe's seemingly boundless incompetence - he's brought in some or other cash cow which has turned out to have BSE.

From what I hear (at a distance) HRH has his own spies/influence in the camp and it isn't popular with the staff. He and KMc don't communicate much except via solicitors and it is obviously affecting CW and by articulation, the playing staff.

It needs fucking sorting. If we lose Wilder after two seasons of success, I don't think the fans will forgive the board, especially as the fall from the PL has been punctuated by KMc's failures.

The final conundrum is that if Wilder goes to Sunderland, which McCabe yes-man/failure will replace him?

pommpey

Does Chris Wilder know his budget for next season yet or not?
Do you know? Could you find out?
Surely that doesn't rely on the legal process being finalised?

No he doesn’t. Are you asking if I can find out his budget?

if wilder leaves this is going to get nasty very quickly.. they’ll try and get deano in to pacify the fans.. my money is on van Winkle

A good letter, Danny04, and I hope it gets through to the powers-that-be as a further indication of fans' feelings.
PS (only for those interested in punctuation) On the back page of today's paper, I like your correction of Jamal's punctuation. His original text read 'So much more to come from this team and me who knows what the future holds', which makes him sound like Mystic Meg. Perhaps ask him who will win the McCabe/Prince battle. The amended text, 'So much more to come from this team and me - who knows what the future holds?' is closer to what he presumably intended; perhaps it needs a comma after 'team'? But I'm glad he appears to have paid more attention to his goalkeeping skills than to the niceties of written English. Punctuation failed to help my goalkeeping career...

No he doesn’t. Are you asking if I can find out his budget?

No, just trying to work out if this is true or not and if so, why CW hasn't been informed:-

"McCabe said at the shareholders meeting that a budget for next season had already been set and agreed between the two owners"
https://www.s24su.com/forum/index.php?threads/ownership-wrangle.63776/page-2#post-1680130

As a matter of interest, how does it work when reporters at The Star ask for a comment from McCabe and Prince Abdullah?
Do you ask them directly? Do you ask their representatives?
Do they just reply "No comment" or "Can't comment due to legal reasons" or do they just not reply at all?
Did you send your letter to them directly as well as printing it in The Star?

I'm genuinely not having a go, just interested how this apparent "wall of silence" has sprung up.

No reply at all. Yes, letter will be sent to both as well as HRH’s advisors.

I don’t disagree with that. Do you think we’re not? It’s a legal process. Court cases don’t get a guilty/not guilty verdict mid-trial

Not sure that's a great analogy. Court cases get reported as they go along and the issue here is finding out what's going on.
That's the job, ain't it?

I said at the outset that another balls up, this time over Wilder, and McCabes stock will never recover, even amongst his supporters.

I endorse this letter: restrained enough that the vast majority of fans can get behind the sentiments.I hope both parties have the grace to give Danny some form of reply. This silence will become increasingly noisy. If there are no public statements of any kind and Wilder and his staff leave, the owners will be despised by the fans..

You’re the expert, you tell me

It's common sense Danny, you don't need an expert to tell you. If a blogger can get word from someone close to it all, I'd have thought the Star can use similar nous.

That's if the blogger is to be believed. More, "man in the pub" to me. Simply because if the Prince wanted this out in the open, he would have gone to the Star rather than someone's low circulation vanity project, which simply rehashes media reports and opines on them, 95% of the time knocking the owners, particularly McCabe.

Bitch!

(sent you a couple of messages lovely boy)

Can we sign a petition to get the matter raised in parliament? :)

A better route might be to sign a petition requiring Foxy to get off his idle backside and design a petition. Rarely have so many suffered so much from dereliction of duty by so few.

For the love of God, Foxy - WILL YOU JUST BLOODY DO SOMETHING!!!!

Exactly. For goodness sake, take some damn ACTION !

The endgame for all of this is WWF sets up his own forum, all the quality posters sign up and Foxy is left with the sharks and dregs.

Only then will we see some proper co-ordinated fans action.Shame on Foxy

We can all dream.

Albeit the new forum might end up as a board with only one member endlessly quoting, and replying to, himself ? Quality posts are rarer than most of us peasant-posters think, Raulster.

And I think you mean "ACTION", btw.

:)

Maybe but the blogger would be going to inordinate lengths to make that up or for it to be based on a mate down the pub.
I'd hazard a guess you've also picked up that Wilder is very unhappy about the new people who've been abruptly moved into the Lane over recent months as part of the tit-for-tat between the owners.
From the Star's perspective, I wouldn't have thought it would be that difficult to find out about how dysfunctional it's become behind the scenes.

'Noise' from the fans can make a big difference.

Wednesdayites avoided McLaren with 'noise'.

Well done Danny.

Simply typing it up and posting it online after hearing someone say it? What else would there be to do? Ask the very same questions you want the Star to ask? Didn't see much of that.

You guess correctly. I like many others picked up on it at the time. And commented on it pre Christmas. What's your point?

Maybe the Star want info to come from one of the owners rather than someone who overheard part of a conversation and drew a damning opinion of it.

We had an idiot on here last week claiming the Prince hadn't put a penny in and that was "Fact" and came from someone who "knew".

Possibly Danny04 should have given them a spot as a guest columnist?

For someone using the phrase "common sense" you aren't using much yourself.

Did the Pig fans "stop"the appointment of McClaren? Or is this just another fantasy dressed up as fact?

By the way, Danny04, if you are going to properly represent the breadth of opinion on this forum, you need to persuade your boss to allow you a front page WILDER LEAVES/WILDER GOES headline, with a link to a back page article with photos of Wilder going on holiday, leaving a restaurant... the choice is endless. How those of us who buy the Star will laugh...

I'm sure the Star would want that but given they're unlikely to just drop info into their laps it would actually involve some asking of questions, talking to people in the know and generally doing that kind of stuff to find out what's going on. And this wrangle has been going on for months now with precious little detailed reporting.
As for the info about Wilder's unhappiness I don't recall that ever making the Star and if we know about it then it's odd it's not been reported.
Getting the nitty gritty isn't easy but I'd have thought that's the job.

So you don't think the Star, or RS, have asked those questions? Or talked to people actually in the know?

I never said the Wilder unhappiness info was from the Star although It was reported in there that McCabe had blocked Van Winckels appointment to the technical board. You must have missed that.

I'm leaning towards sarcasm......

Well there are plenty of Blades who are Mad with rage so there’s a ready made brand name for Foxy in his new venture...
