Each side really has a nasty set of fixtures, it really is far too close to call

**edit* :Fair enough regarding Brentford and Preston but they have too many teams in front of them IMO and want to focus on who is above us

Boro vs Bristol on Saturday, a draw could make it very interesting

With everyone playing everyone... Brentford could sneak in

Fulham Away
QPR home
Barnsley away
Hull home

Minimum 9pts for them there

Millwall have a really tough run in but they are the form team just now. Also I would not rule out Brentford after the won at forest. If i was to make a prediction I would go..

Millwall:

Blades A- Loss
Fulham H- Loss
Boro A- Draw
Villa H- Win

4 points

Bristol City:

Boro A- Loss
Hull H- Draw
Forest A- Win
Blades- Loss

4 points

Boro:

Bristol City H- Win
Derby A- Loss
Millwall H- Draw
Ipswich A- Win

7 points

Blades:

Millwall A- Win
Birmingham- Loss
Preston H- Win
Bristol City A- Win

9 Points

Can see Brentford getting 9 points from there run in. Fulham A, QPR H, Barnsley A, Hull H.

Not an impossible set of results and that would leave us with:

6th Blades 74
7th Boro 73
8th Brentford 73
9th Millwall 72
10th Bristol City 69

Lets really get behind the lads and push them on!!!

like the brum prediction was thinking along same lines! :)

Derby are a shoe-in for 5th.

6th is all to play for. Boro will have at least 1 suspension next game (and possibly 2 with video evidence). City have just had a good win after a blip. They could easily hold them or beat them. It may come down to the last game between us at City. Winner takes all.

Don't usually think I'm that good at predicting fixtures, but this is what came out for me and it looks very much like our kind of luck!

Derby have 2 games and hand and Millwall are going to be very hard to finish above - which it pains me to say.

We have a huge incentive though now it looks like Fulham will beat Cardiff to 2nd.

Are they though? Their fixtures:

Wolves A
Burton A
Middlesbrough H
Cardiff H
Villa A
Barnsley H

Will probably lose to Wolves and Villa. Should beat Burton and Barnsley (though both are fighting for their lives). Then Cardiff and Boro will be really tight. Derby have a history of bottling it and this stage. Its thrilling!

Millwall are on great form, but with Fulham Boro and Villa and ourselves to come they will do extremely well to make it. Though its an absolute dogfight, literally.

Fulham would smash us in the play-offs, but do hope that Cardiff can pick up points against Derby.

We have a great opportunity and a chance, four cup finals to go if we win them all we are in the play-offs IMO so in effect its in our hands (no way will Boro and Millwall win all of theirs, they play each-other and the latter play us for starters)

We win our 4 remaining games, we're in the play offs. This will go down to the last game of the season by the looks of it.

Even if Brentford lose at Fulham this weekend they have QPR (home), Barnsley (away), Hull (home) to finish. Might need a favour from Adkins to keep them off our tails as well.

Derby are specialist chokers, lets hope they keep themselves reachable.

Villa will be safe in the play-offs by then, so resting players. Cardiff will hopefully be on a bad run still. Barnsley will already be down.

I've got it that O'Connell's disallowed goal at Boro costs us 6th place - that sounds entirely plausible. Interesting that Barnsley are at Derby on the last day, "We're Barns-a-lee, we're keeping you down"?

Let me first state before being accused of getting carried away or overconfident, Millwall have done excellently to get to 6th and after so many games are there on merit. 3 points is 3 points regardless of who it comes against.

A lot has been made of their unbeaten run (P16 W11 D5) since losing to Norwich on January 1st so I just wanted to dissect some of the underlying details to seek causes for optimism for Saturday!

The unbeaten run is an unbeaten league run. They were knocked out of the FA Cup 1-0 by League One Rochdale who currently occupy one of the League One relegation slots.
The average current placing of the teams faced in this run is between 15th and 16th.
The average current placing of the teams beaten in this run is between 17th to 18th.

Bristol in 8th and Brentford in 10th, both home wins, are the exceptions in that all the other victories are against teams currently in the bottom half, placed 14th to 24th.
They have only faced 2 teams in the top 7 during this run and drew both, at home to Cardiff and Derby.

Their highest placed away victory was a 4-3 thriller in January against 14th placed Leeds. Leeds were down to 10 men after 37 minutes.
Their away record against other teams in the top half reads P9 W0 D5 L4. They still have to go to Boro and ourselves away to complete the away set.

Their remaining home games are against the teams currently lying 2nd and 4th. The highest placed team they have beaten at home is 7th. Their home record vs the rest of the top 6 is P3 W0 D3 L0.

Damn lies and statistics of course and I'm not going to tempt fate by drawing any conclusions or assumptions but some food for thought nonetheless.

Be interesting to see who gets closest at the end. If Fleck is injured and misses games we won't finish as high as 8th IMO. He is by far our best player and the one man we cannot replace. Either way, we aren't playing well enough to finish top 6. Can't believe Derby creep into 6th after the results I've given them.
I'm still in the 'It's been a great season, even so' camp.
