The Lundstram haters.

You should have heard me tonight! Sentences????? No chance. Mostly used random words I couldn't string together directed at the ref and linesman incorporating embarrassing arm waving and pointing. Don't think I'm really "South Stand material" yet.
The same occurred to me at the Fulham game. I do not think I was liable to be deemed in possession of my senses if anyone had noticed what I was shouting.

Much like how people can be quick to scapegoat people, others are far too keen to label people haters or claim certain players are being made scapegoats, just because they get criticism sometimes. Lundstram's passing has often been a bit sloppy when he's come on as a sub to supposedly see out the game, so that's why he's got a bit of stick in not many minutes on the pitch. Now he's starting he has more of a fair chance to show what he can do, anyone blaming him for the last two games is an idiot, but I'm not sure anyone is.

I'd have taken him off yesterday, but not because he'd done anything wrong, just because throwing on Hanson for the last 5 minutes might have created something we were never going to get playing normally.

Whether you like Lundstram or not,we have no alternative so get used to him starting,,,,,,a Lundstram stat,we have won 1 game in all the games he has started (and that was a league cup game against Wallsall),so if we want to remain in contention for the playoffs that "stat" had better change quickly.
My bad, small hours posting not a good idea,i should have said Ipswich as a league game.

Without trying to be offensive, I think it fair to say that it is probable that no one on this site might be described as a fan of yours even in the unlikely event that one or two people may actually occasionally agree with something that you post.

Erm...

Go Tyler Durden ! Go Tyler Durden !

Rest assured, when Baldock is fit the resulting reshuffle will restore balance to the team again.
We want our Bashambauer back.
But I must admit we don't retain the ball well enough in the middle with Lundstram in the side. Ok so Coutts took time to establish himself but I do think Lundstram needs to learn this role fast because without a midfield king-pin to dictate the tempo, we look very ordinary indeed.

......can go fuck themselves.

Thought he was terrific tonight. Their keepers made a really good save first half. He's looked for the positive ball all night and he must despair as the moans go up. If you want to see sideways and backwards for 80 minutes, fuck off to Hillsborough.

Well played John, keep up the good work.
tried to do that again in the second half but miss kicked it, if he'd have hit it properly he would have scored

One of my slight frustrations with Coutts, and it’s nitpicking, is that he didn’t shoot more often.

Lundstram doesn’t seem afraid to have a crack.
Yeah but his ball retention is not nearly as good. Gave the ball away much to often.

My main problem is that I am not sure if it is "Lunny" or "Lundy"?, both seem correct, but I don't want to have people sniggering around me at the match if I get it wrong..........

Apart from that, I like the lad, and thought he did well yesterday, and especially the second half. Likes to shoot, always showing for the ball. The one thing I would like is for him to have a run, straight down the middle of the field and try bursting into the box. He has the physique to do that. It might just catch a few teams wrong footed, as they will be expecting us to come down the wings.

He gave the ball away too much first half against Birmingham, however he had a tidy second half. Give him a few games to play in the style we play and he’ll improve, it looks to be match sharpness he’s missing at the moment.

One of them (the one in the second half that squirted away off his foot) made him look a bit of a div. But no blame on him at all IMO. He was brave enough to have a go, even if maybe he wasn't properly set for the shot.

I think it's a general criticism that could be made, that we pass up too many shots from distance.

I've not made any comment on the weekend's game but have given a lot of thought to it so decided to put these out there to be ripped apart.

On the various threads on the subject of Lundstram and the last couple of performances which seem to range from "we're still great" to it's shit / he's shit" etc.etc. Well, for what it's worth, I think it's neither and we just have a couple of temporary issues - although I may end up being called a heretic because I could be asking a small question of Lord Wilder.

The problem to me is that we've just got a few players playing out of position (square pegs / round holes) at the moment because we've been unlucky with injuries.

With both right wing backs injured, Bash has done the best he can but, unfortunately, he's just not a wing back, and on the last couple of appearances as substitutes, neither are Brookes or Carruthers as they both have the attacking flair but struggle a bit with the defensive part of the job. We were, however, coping admirably with that problem until the injury to Coutts which added further pressure. I say this because I think be makes it easy for the wingbacks to get forward due to the pace and accuracy he gets the ball away from our defence. Lundstram isn't up to the pace of the team yet and IMO, is struggling to release the ball forward quickly enough (and I don't mean launch it). He improved a little in the second half because I actually agree with what some have said in that he did appear give the ball away too much in the first half, and we often played the ball sideways across the back four in a fairly pedestrian fashion allowing Birmingham and Fulham to fall into shape (and I accept that the opposition made it difficult and deserve some credit). If I'm honest, I actually think Lundstram has a lot to offer as a box to box style midfielder who will also do the nasty horrible things that some don't do BUT I don't think he's quite got what's required to play the Coutts role to the level we need and I think it's very unfair of people to expect him to be able to do it as well as Coutts - I hope he proves me wrong.

This, therefore, brings me to the bit where I could be seen to be questioning our Lord. Given the injuries, the players available and their actual strenghts, should we be looking to change the formation and way we're playing rather than trying to get players to play in positions not natural to them? I know it's only 2 games and a week on the training ground could be the answer but how long should they go before they look to change things? I'm actually embarrassed at what has made be think like this because it's come from the latter stages of the Fulham game when the introduction of Hanson and Carruthers resulted in a change which was effective and almost got us a miracle result. Most of you will know that I am anti hoof BUT sometimes needs must.

There you go. I've got it all off my chest. I'll sit back and get mi tin hat on now.

Nothing against Lundstram at all, but we all know, deep down, our automatic promotion dream died with a reckless donkey's cowardly lunge.
We will miss couttsy but to say that automatic promotion is no longer possible is an over reaction. We're not a one man team and whilst couttsy was a great part of the team, lundstram can and will improve given time to get some more experience with the squad and tbh I was impressed with him against Birmingham, especially the second half.

Same people who had written off Couttsy when he was on the transfer list 18 months ago ?

Some people have short memories, trouble is at the level we are at now there is little time to become accustomed to it.

People want instant gratification, give the lad a chance.

i dont think lundstram is as bad as people make out. but i noticed that he was sloppy in possession. many times he would give it back straight away. id like to see carruthers in that role next saturday because if lundstram is there to be holding midfielder letting the others be creative. but thats pointless if he cant keep hold of possession
You think Lundstram gives the ball away too easily so you want Carruthers to replace him?

Really?

Is that the same Carruthers that gave the ball away the very first time he had it on Saturday?

It's difficult. I want to hate him, obvs, but if I jump in now it might be all a bit too Hipsterish whereas if I sit in the background a bit for a few weeks it might be all a bit too Bandwaggony. Bloody bollocks.

Thought he played fine today, he's got big boots to fill after Coutts injury.
My farther seems to dislike him a lot for his backwards passing and the odd mistakes, but its not like Coutts and co never passed it backwards the odd time.
I do feel we need to make some changes to the starting 11, just not been playing very well last two games.
The changes we need are Basham to RCB and Freeman or Baldock to RWB.

Give us our balance and ability to overload on either side back, at the moment it's all going forward down the left.

The present situation also makes it harder for the midfielders to influence the game as much as we are used to seeing.

Completely agree. If anything epitomised the “heart of a pea” approach which seems to plague a very small minority of fans, it was the IOM post you’ve replied to.

How can you write off anything under Wilder and these lads. Bonkers.

And didn't bother tracking back after giving their player the ball, stood near the centre circle feeling sorry for himself before he had an Oh fuck moment. Did the same against leicester in the cup I think and combined with his penchant for giving it away is the reason he's only an impact sub.

I wake up in a cold sweat at the thought of Carruthers starting in Couttsy's role.
