this team would get us up and playing attractive football and has pace, power and footballing ability

gk- bunn or bennet
rb- walker
cb- morgan
cb- kilgallon
lb- naughton.... get the kid back on loan
rm- ward
cm- williamson
cm- yeats or halford on loan
lm- mcsheffery
cf- camara
cf- henderson....if we play too much hoofball play evans with camara

Decent team, although Halford and Yeats arent central midfielders. Theyre wide men. Both good players but neither have the qualities to play in the middle. Paddy has to be in goal (once the ban is up).

I despute the line in bold. With Kevin Blackwell in charge this simply will not happen. The team is a pretty good one, but I'dmake a few changes

* Although I stress the importance of midfield competition for places. Quinn and Monty should be adequte back up if Harper (or Williamson) is (are) not perfroming.

I agree with you on Yeates, but Halford would be a very good CM, his passing, tackling, height and stamina would be perfect for him there.

Kenny (Bunn, until the ban is lifted)
Walker
Morgan
Kilgallon
Naysmith
Ward
Williamson
Harper
Boyd (from Peterborough)
Camara
Henderson

Subs: Bunn/Bennett (see above); Geary; Montgomery; Quinn; Little; Cresswell; Evans

That team would finish in the top 4. We would have to keep at least 9 of the starting 11 fit though or we would start to slide again. No disrespect to those on the bench but none of them are in particularly great form and would struggle to fill the breach IMO.

The omission of Reid is purely because ive seen about 20 minutes of him since he came to the club so cant comment.

So basically you are stating that we are 1 signing away from a Play Off finish!!

I would like to see Boyd at the lane, he played very well against us earlier this season.

If cheap as chips cudn't get us up playing Burnley wi the squad he had in my opinion he never will.

Essentially I am yes. There isn't a lot wrong with the team we have when everyone is fit and we can keep a settled side. If the likes of Swansea and Leicester can sit in the top 6 then im damn sure our team can.

Having said that I would like to see maybe a couple in but something tells me '0' will be the magic number!

Did you watch Burnley at any point last season?

Coyle had them playing like the Arsenal of the CCC, hence the reason they passed the ball around us on 3 different occasions at 3 different stadiums.

I agree with Lou here. I said at the start of the season that our team/squad is good enough for a top 4 finish. I still believe this. However a combination of poor tractics, poor man management, injurires, loss of form from key players and silly individual mistakes means we are off the pace.

Even if we don't bring anyone in then we're stillgood enough for the play offs. However the squad is thin and we can't afford to have key players injured (particulrly the likes of Killa, Morgs, Ward and Henderson). Our first team is very good. As Lou points out though it's in the lap of the gods as far as injuries are concerned. If we get Walker, Morgan, Killa and Naysmith playing together as a unit again at the back then I think we'll make the play offs. We can establish a similar style to last year, i.e. very solid at the back and conceding few goals. Although we lack flair and that lethal cutting edge (other than ward and Camara maybe) then I think we'd win a lot of games by the odd goal etc because of how solid we are.

We played into their hands. Nothing to do with how good they were.

mmmmmmmmmmm................how much did they spend on their squad ? was it 30 bob ? ......... in contrast to cheap as chips who had one of the most expensive squads in the Championship.

Whilst Coyle did a very good job they were hardly the Arsenal of the CCC; in my opinion the reason they beat us was because they had a centre half capable of clearing every lofted ball; therefore rendering our only method of attack completely ineffectual.

i would go 4-3-3
kenny(bunn)
walker morgs killa naysmith
harper monty williamson
ward hendo camara

Correction ...... Blackwell got it badly wrong tactically and played hoofball against them on 3 occasions. Didnt learn from his first or second mistake !!

UTB

I don't think Wardy is a winger personally, his final ball is usually pretty crap and would be much better up front IMO.

The 3 above points show why we didn't beat Burnley on any of the 3 occassions: Blackwells tactical ineptness and no plan B.

These are exactly the reasons why, despite haveing a good team, a Sheffield united team with Kevin Blackwell at the helm will not take Sheffield united to the premiership.

I was merley backing up there points and then stating my opinion for everyone in the forum to read (not just the 3 readers).

Oh and you're welcome! :D to answer your question, I work in national government actually.

They finished 5th the last time I checked. They weren't that good. the Pigs thrashed them twice without any difficulty.

As I have said before, it is an indictment on Blackwell's preparation for the PO Final that Burnley played the same way as the league game a few weeks before, the game unfolded the same way (early goal for them) and yet he did not do anything to combat them or attack their weaknesses. Instead, more hoofball and thank you very much from Clark Carlisle.
