Takeover

How much you betting if this happens we’re all on Google trying to work who the hell this is who has bought us and whether to be happy or not?

Completely true but that’s not their mindset though - imagine being the first owner to bring a trophy to Sheffield United after so long I’d be a legend for ever - that’s the way they think
The point being, doing more of the same will deliver the same outcome as the previous 100 years - absolutely fuck all. Even the dumbest amongst them would understand that.

I'm making the point that a club that can average towards 30,000 gates, yet can't win a cup in a century, or maintain top flight status for any significant period in the last half century, perhaps doesn't have much to fear in any new takeover, no matter who it is.

I think we’re at cross purposes a bit I not disagreeing with your assertion but I don’t think that that’s their mindset. I think they think they can be the difference. How it has worked out for us historically isn’t great but people like this think that it’ll be different for them (Chansiri being a good example) . How it turns out god knows but they won’t be put off by the fact people have always failed before.

If any new owner is in it for purely profit what do you think might happen to Match Day and Season Ticket prices
Just look over at S6 for an example even though hes obviously not in it for profit
I know a lot of you cant wait to get shut of the Prince but at least he has kept Season Ticket prices quite low

Chansiri invested a fortune into the pigs - it took a monumental fuck up to derail them.

If the only thing we knew about a new owner was that they were definitely going to invest a fortune into us (like Chansiri), but that they might also be a dickhead (like Chansiri), we'd be mad not to take that risk wouldn't we?- I certainly would.

And I believe that chances that someone who's happy to buy us for "£100M", and not invest significant sums (compared to what the current owners are likely to do going forward), is quite low.

Football fans are a fickle bunch, but it's not easy to find any Newcastle fans who had a positive view of the Ashley era. Even McCabe had (has) support from a section of Blades and he was responsible for multiple shocking decisions along the way.

I wouldnt want Mike Ashley anywhere near us. He won't touch the training ground, Bramall Lane will look ridiculous covered in Sports Direct adverts, and he'll make some awful back room appointments. His first move would probably be to text Billy and Bash to tell them to not bother coming in on Monday.

While we do need new owners/investors, we don't need Mike Ashley.

Completely agree albeit we don’t actually get a say so we get who we get and have to rely on the prince not to sell us down the river

The amount of support for Mike Ashley, and the reasons for it, has convinced me of one thing, at least.

We should never, ever, ever be owned by our fans.
Being owned by fans generally is likely to be very different from being owned by fans on here who want Mike Ashley !
It has and is working very well for Exeter City.

Reyt? This is small time mentality and similar was said of McCabe. "6th season in league one and selling our assets for nowt but hey, cheap tickets".

Have to weigh it up sometimes. Higher prices is more revenue is better players.

Yes, I'm aware it doesn't work exactly like that and ST revenue is a drop in the ocean but still. Nor does extortionate tickets equate to success. Just look down the road for that.

As comedic as it all was when it unravelled, a consortium of Ice Cube and friends, will definitely be better than having a sole figurehead with a gigantic ego in charge making all the decisions. Told Cube is getting football people in to do the day to day running of the club, people who have been there before!

The Athletic are reporting that the EFL are reviewing £115m takeover of Sheffield United by American businessman Mauriss. He tried to tale over Newcastle but Ashley got fed up with the slow pace of things Bad if this drags on into summer transfer window

So would you be prepared to pay £800 / £1000 for a season ticket (on top of everything else that is going on in the world). I want to watch my football club at Bramall Lane not be priced out of it by an owner that doesnt give a fuck about what working class fans can afford to pay to watch THEIR club remember football is nothing without fans
The Prince for the record hasnt sold our assets for 'nowt' and he gets the fans cant afford to be ripped off

HENRY MAURISS’ 2020 NET WORTH…

Unfortunately, his net worth is not available to the public, but there are reports he has traded more than £5.36 billion ($7bn) in receivables throughout his career.
This figure was initially reported by The Express and concerns the assets Mauriss has “purchased, converted and resold” through trading. If this figure is accurate, it would make him the fifth richest owner of a Premier League club – if he was indeed to take over Newcastle United.

Bearing in mind newcastle fans reckon there's only one photo of him on the internet and it was in 2015...

Dont forget high Season Ticket prices doesnt always mean success just ask the unclean over at S6 they have League One and no cheap tickets
I did state in my post that high prices don't mean success and said Wednesday were the example. Don't forget though that their owner is a raging lunatic and they were relegated through cheating.

I wouldn't pay £800 not a chance. Some would though. I would go 500 on kop at the absolute most in this division. 600 in the PL. If it was on credit 0% interest - 60 a month. That's still affordable. I'm aware cost of living is sky high and football is a luxury so cheap tickets right now are commendable. Going forward I'd pay the sums I quoted. If we were in the PL.

Interesting
"Despite Newcastle fans repeatedly asking where will Mauriss find the kind of money needed to buy and progress Newcastle United, the media have matched that with assurances that Henry Mauriss DOES have the kind of cash required to do the deal, despite providing zero evidence as to where that he would have access to that level of finance.

It was / is all a little bit bizarre, as when you check Henry Mauriss out, there seems to be nothing to suggest he’d have the kind of money needed after these 13 years of lack of investement under Mike Ashley.

Forbes published their latest annual report on $billionaires, in June 2020 listing over 2,000 now in the world, including Mike Ashley with an estimated $3billion fortune.

To be a $billionaire is the equivalent of around £780m and yet Henry Mauriss was nowhere to be seen on the Forbes report, nor indeed can you find anything elsewhere to support the idea that he is anywhere close to being able to afford to buy NUFC.

The Telegraph report says the newspaper has been ‘repeatedly assured’ that the money is there for Henry Mauriss to buy NUFC but that obviously they haven’t seen proof themselves and ‘can only report what others have claimed in good faith’.

Also repeated in this new report is the assertion that it is the company (Clear TV) and not Mauriss as an individual, that is looking to buy the club from Mike Ashley.

However, Bloomberg report that Henry Mauriss is the Chief Executive and sole Director of Clear TV, so basically, it looks very much that he is Clear TV.

Last year (2019), ClearTV Media UK Ltd was incorporated and Companies House records show Henry Mauriss to be the sole shareholder of that business as well.

I have heard of reclusive billionaires, indeed (laughably it sounds now) it was claimed Mike Ashley was one when he bought Newcastle United in 2007.

However, I haven’t heard of many / any billionaires, where nobody can show any kind of substance in terms of how exactly they can be believed to have those kind of funds.

Henry Mauriss to save Newcastle fans from Mike Ashley? I think not."

Didnt read your all your post

So would you prefer to watch your beloved Sheffield United in your seat at Bramall Lane and accept that we may have short flirtations with the PL but probably spend quite a few years in the Championship or be forced to sit a a majority of home matches out if we were constantly a mid / lower table PL side ?
Hopefully you will never have to make that decision
