Prince Return

Heard a rumour we are getting Dean Hammond back as part of the coaching team. Shipperley is also coming back just in case they put in a wank performance.

I've grown to like him. His bad decisions were more finance related than I'll judgement. He seems to feel a genuine connection to the club which goes a long way with me. This would underline that.

I genuinely think this is the best thing that could happen for the club. He’s a football man, a genuine blade, he was financially restricted.
I’ve been thinking the last month or so - surely they need the prince to advice these clueless yanks?? People forget not only was wilder successful for us the prince equally was part of the journey!!!!

Would be a positive move for the club for sure. Only real gripe with him is he wasn't rich enough to sustain us in the PL or even top end Championship without parachute payments. He didn't handle that very well last time, but there were mitigating factors too.

Like Chris Wilder, I'd welcome the Prince back aboard in a heartbeat

Not that I think there is anything in this but no thanks.

He’s a con man.

‘In one of his first acts at the helm, Prince Abdullah installed his son-in-law Prince Musaad, 26, as the youngest chairman in the world’s most lucrative league.

Prince Abdullah said his focus was to secure sponsorship from Saudi Arabia, but insisted that his ownership would not lead to state-level control of the club.’

Yes, he was the best owner we've had for some time, but it's a pretty low bar. Let's not forget he was AWOL half the time.
Think that was health bearing the burden of the battle with McCabe and the financial pressures.
If he returns as a part owner (seem to recall he was holding for a slice but COH said no) sharing the responsibility he could do a lot of good. Well connected a fierce advisory (eh Kev) and he bring the possibility of investment in lieu of parachute payments.

I'd welcome him back with open arms. Rescued us from the wilderness years that McCabe created, turned us into a viable business and stopped us giving players away. I know some of you find it really hard to admit but he's a very astute businessman and whether you choose to believe it or not, is 100% a supporter of Sheffield United. If he'd had the money we'd be an established Premier League club now, but he was honest enough to hold his hands up and try to find new owners with something behind them. Problem is, we aren't that popular and we aren't that attractive to potential buyers so like it or not, we're stuck with COH for a while and if the Prince can teach them a few tricks of the trade it can't hurt.

The big issue all preseason has been too many people having wildly different views on how things should be ran. The Prince will just be another opinion on the board but one who has no investment riding on it.

We need actual football people above Wilder offering advice. I don't know what The Prince can offer that Bettis can't.

Don't see the point of it to be honest. I'm sure he always had good intentions as the owner, but does he have any actual football expertise?

A former owner hired as advisor has to be a first in English football. 😂

Depends what capacity he comes in as, assuming the rumours are true which I wouldn't stake my life on. If he's coming in as some kind of advisor then they're admitting that they haven't got a fucking clue what they're doing and if that's the case, he can give them a few tips that might help them get a return on their investment, which is all they care about.

For the football side just keep it simple. Let Wilder manage his players and steady the ship and when we're out of this hole, have a chat with a few football folks and try to get some sound advice about the workings of modern day football. There's plenty out there but I'm guessing their list of contacts in the game is pretty short.

It's a conundrum to be honest. The Prince follows sport, not sure the new lot do and that can't be good for any of us.
