What a tiresome agenda this has become. Just tell us, would you, how you would tell David Brooks he can't go to a Premiership club on at least ten times his current wage with more to come?

I wouldn't
I'd tell the Premier League club to cough up or fuck off

But like good old Southend have told us to

It'd be great Brooks and Lavery could both become important first team regulars.

Both can make something from nothing and both can create and score goals. It could work well with them playing wide of a centre forward, Brooks from the right, Lavery from the left.

Lavery is quality, unlucky not to play more last season. We talk of Holmes etc. but this kid is the ideal player for no 10 role, tricky, hard working, skillful and an eye for goal. Full pre-season and injury free he could be the best of the bunch next season, he has the ability to be a star.

In my opinion he needs to work on his first touch if he wants to play number 10

It was just a training ground game. You couldn't take much from that game. I don't want to be disrespectful to stocksbridge but they were not a test. It was more about fitness levels etc. Baldock was the stand out new player,. Quick and skillfull, Nathan Thomas looked a bit disappointing to me, a couple of decent balls in was about it. Brooks is is a good player but will be bullied off the ball in the Championship, and is not the answer that some on here seem to be thinking. Freeman was off the pace and Hanson will hardly get on the pitich next season. Should have been offloaded end of season. Besides that, nothing to get excited about yet! Too early to say

The same way Fulham told Tom Cairney he couldn't go to Newcatle when they offered £20m for him. The days of us meekly accepting the first offer that comes in for our best young players has surely got to stop?

from what i heard it looked like thomas was playing left wingback due to us having to play lafferty at CB due to the absence of wright, given he usually played on the wing or number 10 for all of his career he would have probably done better playing there than at wingback but your right today was more about fitness than anything else, but looking at that makes you realise that we have goals in the team even if it was against stocksbridge, sharps goal, brooks goal, both aimed for the top corners, goalkeepers worst nightmare is players shooting into the corners because you have to rely a lot on timing and placement or it will definitely go in. if we do that in the championship we will most likely score providing the player hits the target if you get what i mean

How much?

Whatever the bookies offer; I'll beat it. The number of times I see "I'll bet.." and they back off when someone says 'okay'...

I'll offer the same deal to those who say we're bound for relegation. Get the best odds you can at the bookies then come to me for a better deal...

Silence.

Wonder if Brooks will still be here this time next week?

I don't think we can sell him anyway unless to Chesterfield, because wilder said after ending the loan agreement that If he leaves this season it won't be to any other club than Chesterfield

I went up yesterday and thought Baldock looked really good. Sharp and Clarke worked well and I would imagine they'll be the front two to start with. Carruthers also looked class and I would imagine wilder will have a dilemma come August 5th. Only player I wasn't impressed with was Thomas who looked a bit clumsy but then it is only a pres season friendly.

Thanks to those who've done match reports. Appreciated.

Unless we get some big signings in I can see the same team as last season apart from stearman starting.

Be interesting to see Brooks lavery and ched coming on off the bench

Can baldock play on the left?

I agree with your sentiment, but the reason there's no takers for a relegation bet is that only a few fucking idiots are predicting it. :)

Yes I think so, not sure about Baldock but he did look impressive on the right. I was really surprised not to see Ched feature yesterday, I wonder what kind of shape he is in and whether it is a concern?

well he was warming up before the game and didn't have any strapping on or anything so hopefully he'll get a run out in Malaga
