I like the shirt and will probably buy one if its re-designated as an away strip. I want to see us play in red & white stripes at home ..... call me traditional if you like !!
UTB & FTP

So you like the shirt but refuse to buy it because its the home shirt?

That would be my stance too. It's a matter of principle - don't fuck about with the home shirt.

I stopped buying home shirts in the 90's when we ended up with Bassetts awful diamond kit, I didn't buy another until mid 00's when we started getting proper home shirts with a bit of quality like we got from Le coq sportif and Macron, now we've got a fine quality shirt and fit because of adidas and we fuck it up by changing the design. Idiots

It's a replica of the 1889 shirt for the 125th anniversary year, to be worn for one year only, how more traditional can you get. I can't believe people think it is a new home kit design never to return to the more modern red and white. My shirt looks smart and yes it is different but I am happy to celebrate my teams 125th year by wearing a replica of the original shirt. Some fans are slating the badge with comments on the lines of I hate our new badge, it looks rubbish compared to the twin blades etc, mister spoons and tap him on the forehead spring to mind!!!

I liked the kit but didn't like the badge (I thought we should have kept the two blades) but then I learned the badge is also a replica.

I like the whole package.

Sheffield United have played in red and white stripes for most of their history, but began playing in white shirts and blue shorts. They briefly played in narrow red stripes for the 1890–91 season, before returning to all white the following year. The stripes returned in the 1892–93 season, with black shorts replacing the blue in 1904. The shirts remained largely unchanged until collars were first removed in 1955, replaced by V-necks until the 1966–67 season (when white socks were also used), and from here on the neck style varied.

The traditional red and white striped remained until the 1974–75 season, when elements of black were added, until the 1979–81 and 82 season kit. This was white with a red breast, and with thin stripes down either side, and was created to accommodate the logo of the club's principal sponsor, Cantor's, a local furniture shop. This was to be replaced by a striped kit, with the sponsor Bentley's (1981–82) and Renault (1982–83) written vertically down a white stripe over the left-hand side. Stripes continued while the 1995–96 season, albeit with various aids to accommodate the sponsors, including a yellow square for Laverfrom 1988–92 (the 1990–92 shirt also featured narrow black stripes through each white stripe) and a black hoop, also for Laver in the 1994–95 season. Then came the diamond kit, which was so badly received that the club reverted to stripes the following season.[citation needed] Since then, red and white stripes and black socks with varying trim have been the order of the day, with black shorts for all but the 2002–05 seasons, when white and then red were tried.[7] The club also every few seasons opt to put thin black stripes between the red and white stripes. Sheffield United's home colours were the inspiration for the kit of Irish club, Derry City. In 1934, Derry City adopted the stripes, while Billy Gillespie was manager of the club, in recognition of Gillespie's achievements at Sheffield United.[8]

I like the shirt. It's a good looking shirt. It looks good as a shirt standalone with jeans etc. In my opinion it would look even better without the sponsorship on but I understand why it's needed these days.

I didn't like it at the Port Vale game. The game felt wierd like 15 thousand fans weren't sure who to support, or how to support them.

I would prefer if they could have brought it out at the beginning of this season but they couldn't. I'd prefer it if the pinstripes were thicker but they're not. If prefer it if it was our away shirt for this season, but it's not.

I like the shirt.

I bought two, one for me, one for my son. He likes the shirt too. He also agrees with all the points made above,

Without prompting,

Honest.

It isn't our 125th anniversary - that has been and gone - next season will be our 127th if my calculations are correct, nor is it the same as the one we used for one season when we came an astonishing 5th in the Midland League (described as narrow stripes - not pinstripes) -

It is a generic template using the Nottingham Forest pinstripe away strip material with a different collar, delivered late because the club and Adidas couldn't sort it in time. From a distance the shirt looks plain white - what it looks like with jeans is secondary. What it looks like from the terraces is primary. Seriously not impressed with the kit or the spurious reasons given for its introduction. I won't be buying one.

Got mine on Tuesday (pre-ordered)

I'd hardly say it was skin tight. This seasons home shirt is, I had to get a large in that one. Ordered large in the white one though and it's too big.
Your right, I have had hold of a replica shirt today and it's nothing like the player issue ones. Mine is skin tight and really elasticky the replica ones are loose and made from a very different material. I thought they would be exactly the same.

Won't be getting it as I got this past season's shirt. Nothing against the new one, I just can't be bothered to get a new one every season, especially as I like the one we've used this season.

I do like the shirt for next season. However for everyone saying it is a design just for us, it appears that's not the case, just look at Ipswich's shirt next season
