Nope if you carry on fouling into the box it’s a pen

It really isnt.

Law 13 - Free Kicks - The FA

"All free kicks are taken from the place where the offence occurred, except: indirect free kicks to the attacking team for an offence inside the opponents' goal area are taken from the nearest point on the goal area line which runs parallel to the goal line."

Again this game just backs my theory even more

Another poor performance where we have scraped past a non league team

Warning signs are there 🤷‍♂️

Shame wendy lost as I’d have liked to batter them in the cup
You are right though, Sharp was abysmal tonight. And the performance was dire.

You are correct though I think it is questionable if he made it into the box, he kind of dived in from outside.

But in terms of your interpretation if you al recall the pen against Stevens at Bournemouth. It started outside the box and should have been a free kick. When we refereed to the rules around that the rules stated that it related to holding if I recall. This meant the Stevens one should not have been a pen, but IF the foul continued inside the box then it can be a foul. Though to me it looked like he went down into the box rather than was fouled inside it.

Again the offence occurred in the box

Watch the replay it really didnt, even ITV said it didnt.

VAR would have given that a free kick.

No they wouldn’t he fouled him inside the box

It really is quite simple if you keep fouling someone whilst they are in the box it’s a pen

But he didnt continue fouling him inside the box, even itv said that, no matter how many times you tell yourself he did 🤣🤣

The foul was outside the box. His feets outside the box and then he dives forward .

Interesting take on the game. You were generally "better" than us, I agree, but I don't think our defending was any more "industrial" than the ludicrous challenge on Mullin near the end of the first half that saw your guy booked and the commentators laughing about whether it was a tackle or something out of the Kama Sutra.

If you'd had Mullin, you'd have won the game at a stroll.

And, as wiser men than me have said in the past, don't let a player take two penalties in the same game.

We were generally better? Understatement of the year. It was defence versus attack for about 95% of the match. The first half was possibly the most one sided I’ve ever seen in a United match.

Whilst we’re talking about ludicrous challenges, did you happen to see the one where your number 8 attempted to boot Ndiaye as he was running away with the ball, which he didn’t get booked for? What about the one where Ndiaye was going through 1v1 and your defender pulled him back. Another decision the referee decided not to give.

I’m not really sure how you feel Mullin would have improved us. Let’s be honest, aside from scoring a penalty, missing a penalty and falling over every time he got near one of our players he didn’t really do much did he. It was a clever bit of cheating to win the first penalty, I’ll give him that.

im going to go out on a limb & saying Ryan Reynolds wont be filming deadpool 2 in Sheffield. after his cover was blown & the family stand celebrations at 2-1 & 3-1, that may have got a bit heated. but in fairness we were just telling him thats our 2nd goal 😄.

It isn't.
If a forward is being kicked by a defender the ref gives a free- kick from where the defender lands the first kick.
The ref doesn't wait until the 3rd or 4th kick before awarding a foul because he's waiting for one of the kicks to be carried out in the box
The referee gives a free kick where the foul occurs.
In this case the foul first starts outside the box, so the free-kick is taken from where a foul STARTS.

It really isnt.

It's not Law 13, it's Law 12:

If a defender starts holding an attacker outside the penalty area and continues holding inside the penalty area, the referee must award a penalty kick.

Just debatable if he was in. I think he fell in. Certainly Anel was never in the box.

Who cares anyway, we're through!

that was a cracking cup tie, it was 1 of greatest ive seen great atmosphere & fiery with plenty of passion. not your usual boring game where neither team cares. but it was spoilt by the referee i dont mind a physical game but what i would like is consistency, the bias wasnt even suttle at times. our players can dragged down with both hands on the shirt cynically. but yet coulibaly & berge can get booked for 50/50 tussle for the ball, while they chuck themselves on the floor. it felt like united against the world at times

hopefully Wrexham will remember next time theyve got a replay to play before over looking us & making plans for spurs

Most I’ve enjoyed a match for months. Some good performances and but for some shit reffing and a bit of a brainless decision by Norwood we were comfortable.

As for Wrexham, 15 mins of long throws in the 2nd do not a good performance make.

Really dislike their manager and a lot of their players. A lot them were chubby bastards as well, made Mousset look like Fight Club era Brad Pitt.

Davies - 6/10 - extra mark for the save, flapped a lot though

Osborn - 7/10 - Beat he’s played for a while, looked good when all the play was down the left first half.

Basham - 4/10 - Sadly he’s done.

Egan - 6.5/10 - solid but still crap in the air against awkward cloggers

Anel - 6/10 - good goal, not very strong defensively and strange decision for the pen (albeit it was a free kick and not a pen)

JLT - 5/10 - good going forward 1st half but couldn’t get near Dalby or Palmer in the air

Coulibaly - 6.5/10 - looked a cut above their players but didn’t progress the ball forwards enough for me. Good to get 70 mins though

Berge - 7/10 - far too good for their little chubsters, some good driving runs and the goal but was still a little ‘safe’ and wasn’t always available.

McAtee - 6,5/10 - very positive with the ball at his feet, just lacked quality, poor chance to miss but put Sharp in for his miss and kept the ball alive for the 3rd

Ndiaye - 5.5/10 - Didn’t want to get injured but still moments of class

Sharp - 6.5/10 - toiled, missed a sitter and scored the winner. 10/10 for the interview, I hope people realise that we’re now in the last few games of being able to see a Blades legend, enjoy it.

Subs:

Norwood - 6/10 - shit for the pen, great with his penetrative passing and assist for the 3rd was good. Made a difference when he came on.

Lowe - 5/10 - didn’t do much

Brooks - unmarked

Can we just rewind the clocks and watch Wimbledon, coz that was just a replica watching Wrexham by the way, terrible manager who only knows one way to play
His Bolton side reincarnated .. long throw , set pieces & FA else .. he can fuck back to Sunday League football & their bdnd wagon jumpers with em .. got way above themselves .. Hope Notts County & Chezzie dick them & the they’ll then return to 1800 crowds & glue sniffing while shagging there sisters 👍

Double like for that info!
Honestly didn't know Rule 12
(but did my Refs Course about 40 years ago)

Professional approach from our lads tonight and got the job done. It's was good to see us counter attack so well too.

If Wrexham get pipped to their own title then it will be a decent team that does it.

How much does the BLLT hold, and how many more do they have in the upper on top of that?

Lower tier is 2,700 + 2000 in the upper tier = 4,700 tickets sold.

Last season Forest has part of the corner stand too, was it near 6K.
When we played Spurs in the league cup semi they were given 6K too.
