Selles sacked

You’ve really confused me for two reasons.
I genuinely can’t recall playing 3 at the back regularly last season and as proven this season, Peck can’t/wont play as a CDM.
Sorry Bob not implying we played 3 at the back but that the central partnership of Souza sitting and Peck playing forward of him worked. We just substitute Matos for Souza with Peck on the rigjt of him and Hamer on the left with wing backs outside. Im no football coach but I'd prefer this line up to what we've had so far

Cooper
Godfrey Tanganga Mee
Seriki Peck Matos Hamer Burrows
Campbell Ings

And it leaves a lot of strength to come off the bench

That would work with Hamer in a more advanced role as a 10 feeding the strikers, switching play, shooting etc.
no responsibility to win the ball subsequently if he gets booked he loses his match fee.
But it is without doubt our best formation and use of players

looks good to me that line up but very much doubt selles will deviate from his 433 system if he sticks with that he will get sacked abandon the wingers and let seriki and burrows do that job as wingbacks

Think he’ll be sacked after the Ipswich away game unless there is a significant improvement. Carrick likely to be appointed in time for Charlton at home.

May be wrong, but didn't Carrick mainly use 4-2-3-1 at 'Boro? Bit dinosaurish innit.

I love the potential near symmetry though -
'Boro - sack Wlider - Carrick appointed -Carrick sacked
United - Wilder sacked, eventually Carrick appointed - Carrick sacked and er,...

Love that, but is Selles capable of says he’s wrong and plating a back five?

I badly want to see this in action.

Just playing Devil’s advocate here…

While there’s no denying it’s been a terrible start, Selles had big shoes to fill, and deal with culture that ran through the club. He’s also clearly brought a different management style, and playing style, which some of the players will not have adapted to or liked.

Add in the challenge of the transfer window, the departure of some key players and the uncertainty of the remaining players futures. Selles was clearly frustrated with lack of timely signings - I can’t remember any other manager calling out the board/recruitment team in the first few weeks of their tenure!

All of this along with limited options to field a strong team was never going to make it an easy start.

Now I’m not defending him, as I was not convinced he was the right appointment in the first place, but to say he’s disorganised and a crap Manager at this stage seems a little premature.

In my opinion, the decision for the board is whether they give him time to prove his worth, now he has the players at his disposal, and risk losing further ground on the top six or do they hold him accountable for what seems to be their failings?!
I think that Selles speaks well in interviews, he’s honest & doesn’t shy away from tough questions. But the fact remains his football is awful.

I’m probably one of the few that felt sorry for him when the fans were chanting at him last week, I’d love to see him turn it around and have that chant turned into us celebrating with him but I just don’t see it.

Losing to Ipswich & Boro away is fair enough, but for me the Millwall game showed his naivety. He had some good players on the pitch that day and they didn’t have a clue what they were doing

Freudian slip there pal...we've not played Ipswich yet!

we will see how much the players want selles to stay at portman road with their performance but think selles will be lucky to hang on if we lose at ipswich a home game against charlton would be the perfect opportunity to introduce carrick to the lane crowd personally thought it would be either dyche or cooper but im not too unhappy if it is carrick went wrong for him at boro after a great start and think he will have a point to prove he can do it at this level if the americans are considering him now its amazing that they chose selles in the first place

Carrick!! How is Carrick any better than what we have? Just look at M'boro go without him.

All this talk of players & systems , when 9 , yes NINE of our squad are absent on international duty this fortnight.

By golly , what fuckup of a window , doing nothing all summer and then chucking a load of new faces in at the last minute ,
only for half the squad to be absent when they should be working together to gel as a team 🙄

That 9 includes Davies, Zätterström, Oné, Sasnauskas and Polendakov, none of whom are first choice. Peck and Ogbene are probably the only two who would make the first XI and the latter isn't eligible for our next game anyway. The final two, Chong and Bindon, are probably subs at the moment so there's nothing stopping the first team using this two weeks to good effect. I'd not be at all surprised if we try and get a behind-closed-doors match in.

Fair points ,
And having a smaller group probably helps Selles to establish some sort of team spirit amongst them.

it doesnt matter whos at the helm the fact is if he doesnt win games he will be out even and special one or klopp would get sacked if they didnt win with these muppets in charge if they can sack tufty on 92 points they will sack everyone they are the problem them owners,im slowly going off selles he said he would win every game but its a results sport im even more ill coz we cant win ill give him till ipswich away must win match if we dont shoot on goal and win this game then it will be curtains and goodbye ,arr ffs,god help new boss he needs to win or hes out

Ive just read (efl analysis) that Selles might have more than one game..but how much more they did'nt say or speculate....then i read that Hendrie thinks he will be gone as soon as a loss at Ipswich..with Wilder not ruled out to return.

Speculation. Neither of them have a clue.

I’ve calmed down a bit. Owners are sticking with RS for at least 1 or 2 more games. I don’t know the plan, maybe it hinged on 14 players walking through the door when we were expecting 4 or 5 with maybe 2 ‘key’ players leaving. Bottom line is he’s got a good squad with depth.

We are where we are and I’ll watch with interest what all the investment in players and training together for 2 weeks brings. It’s got to be hugely improved on the disorganised chaos and lack of goal attempts. Let’s be realistic, we’re 8-12 points behind after 4 games so Sellés doesn’t just have to improve he needs to get the team out performing all the other teams in the league.

Still think he’s gonna struggle to show the improvements needed but one or two more games is all he’s got for me to want full blown Sellés out.
