Selles sacked

I dont want another manager that "saved a club" from relegation then proceeded to do naff all.

I want a manager that has a promotion on his CV who knows what it takes and is familiar with all the pressure that comes with achieving that aim.
Having a manager with promotion on their CV but who is now available to a Championship club means they have failed somewhere and been sacked for it. We are not going to get a manager without failure on their CV unless it’s someone in the early stages of their career. Other clubs are able to make appointments (gambles) like that successfully. It seems that we can’t, for various reasons, so we are destined to keep returning to the same old merry go round. Bright, upcoming young managers are not for us. It will hold us back.

Hassenhutl on a deal till the end of the season, after which he move ‘upstairs’ as sporting director. Rohl comes in as assistant manager and has a gentleman’s agreement to take over next summer. That I could kind of get behind, but Rohl taking over directly from Selles and you could be making the same mistake twice. I’d prefer a much more experienced manager to come in next.

Really need a D.O.F. to do all the other stuff, let the coach do coaching only.

Probably never get a Director of Football, Mr Bettiss seems to be running the show this side of the Atlantic.
The owners aren’t stupid although they are still novices at this game. They will want to protect their investment and I expect them to have learned lessons from this summer. What happened in the last two weeks of the transfer window suggests that they had belatedly taken some counsel from somewhere.

It's not rocket science is it ?

They (COH) aren’t spending so heavily at the end of this window to piss away this season in midtable mediocrity. Selles will be moved on if he doesn’t get a positive result and performance imminently.

I’d love Cooper or Dyche, but I’m not sure that’s on the cards. I’d take Rohl over Selles every day of the week. The shot of him (RS) hunched over a notepad looking perplexed at Middlesbrough as the game was running away from us was enough for me. Anyone who has on his CV has experience as Assistant Manager of Bayern Munich and Assistant Manager of the German national team has something about him - they aren’t organisations who countenance failure.

My guess would be that Bord fella at Dunfermline.. in which case going forwards, I’d be telling to keep his beak out.. it might be how to run a club in Scotland’s second tier. But it certainly isn’t how to do it in England.

It's not rocket science is it ?

It's a basic means of ensuring good corporate management of an investment by virtually all successful clubs ...
But , oh no , not at the Lane , coz we're somehow "different"
And don't need a senior football man in charge
Just an accountant and a raw unsuccessful head-coach.

That went well, didn't it ?

Oh , and then suddenly recruit Uncle Tom Cobbley & all , at the last minute ,

expecting a raw head-coach who's never played the game , to command instant respect from the experienced players and weld a totally disparate group together for a promotion push !

Do me a favour !

Did these owners have a clue what they were doing after the PO Final ?

Not so's you'd notice.

Proof that success in business doesn't make you intelligent , if ever proof were needed.

Anyway , since it's Friday night Sky , how many brave souls are going to Ipswich ?

Expect to hear some toxic stuff if he sets the team up as per previously.

Excellent post ,K.B.I don't think he's managed before so it's a big big ask,no wonder he's struggling.

Rohl wasn't assistant manager at Bayern, he was assistant analysis coach. He was joint assistant manager of Germany

Interesting article on Rohl explains what was happening during the summer and the work he put in at the Sty despite working for a despot. Reference to his style of football and philosophy. He's spending time with the likes of Hansi Flick at Barcelona and going over to the USA to view the MLS. Also a fan of Nonnas.

If you took his CV alone he fits the COH template for a Head Coach. As stated previously that isn't going to work until a football man is appointed to the Board. In an ideal world COH recognise their mistakes and take action to improve the off field structure as well as on field.

Are you sure? The Times article below says he was Assistant Manager at Bayern Munich. I thought he was Assistant to Flick?

They’re all called Assistant Coaches and they often have 2 or 3. But I believe Rohl was promoted to Flicks principal assistant / right hand man when he took over.

FYI he’s referred to here as Flick’s right hand man at Munich and he subsequently went to the DFA role with Flick.

i still think it might be carrick if selles is sacked but if we did appoint rohl i suspect our fanbase wouldnt be as upset as a lot may think he had nothing to work with at the sty but as another posted has suggested it would be interesting to see what he could do with a better quality squad actually also think the hassenhutl shout is a decent one think hes got a point to prove in english football
