Offer him a low basic with high incentive bonuses, one year contract with our option to extend after six months. If he turns out to be a twat we can just terminate his contract and pay him off.
Upon which basis it's a complete no brainer.

Can't understand why people agonise over whether to go with him or not ? It will either work or it won't, the fall out if it doesn't being minimal.

Saw an interview with Fergie explaining how Rav and his agent wanted 30k per week when he was 17 and the demands were too much so they had to let him go. Be interesting to hear what he gets paid nowadays after barely playing in 9 years.

According to Biggsy, we are entering talks..........

I understand Sheffield United have seen enough to enter contract talks with Ravel Morrison. The former Manchester United youngster has impressed Chris Wilder & co during his trial period. With attitude as well as talent. Something seems imminent there. #SUFC
If true and the team at SUFC can keep him fit this could end up being the signing of the summer for £0 :)

Love to see what this forum would be like if Morrison had signed for another Premier league club and went on to have a great season 🙄

“We should have %#^*+*€ signed him!! 😡... no brainer.. lot to prove” etc

Here’s thee contract.. don’t fuck about outside the club.. when you’re here you work hard!!

He’s fucked up, but knows this is a great opportunity. Worth a chance to finally prove his talent.

My only apprehension would be that his agent is a... well... agent... and he demands more than a year contract. We will want to protect our interests, but the agent will fully well know the shit could hit the fan and i'm sure they'll be protecting their interests too. Saying this, I do think we have the upper hand in negotiations... No other prem club would dare to go there.

This could be a really great bit of business very exciting prospect if he can stay out of trouble and get in form

The sensible thing is to do a 1 year contract with the option of a second.
Bit of a catch 22 isn't it?

Sign him up for a year, has an absolutely banging season and goes somewhere for nothing or extends his stay.

Sign him up for 3, has a banging season, goes for a few million quid or stays on.

Sign him up for a year, has a stinker and goes off on one, nothing lost

Sign him up for 3, has a stinker and goes off on one, stuck.

Which has the best risk to reward ratio?

I'm excited by it. If he nails down a place and performs, I'll be very happy for him and the club.

No shit sherlock......

No one can tell the future but if the lad hasn't noticed things aren't working out by now I don't think he ever will.
Sounds like another Leon to me but if anyone can get a good season out of him it's our management team,

The problem with that is, if he has a storming year, we won't get any value for him in the summer. It has to be a minimum of 2 years with an option of a 3rd.
However, the devils in the detail and it should be heavily weighted towards performance with bonus' for playing, points, and league status retention.

In my line of work you’d do something like a 1 year (plus 1, plus 1) with incremental wage increases each renewal (triggered by playing so many games or the club having the option to extend). Protect yourself pretty nicely that way while structuring it favourably for the player to reach certain milestones.

1 year contract with a further 2 year option which can be exercised by us, provided we stay up?

Given WilderAndKnill's track record of polishing rough diamonds, Morrison's widely accepted (albiet as yet unfulfilled) ability and considering that any contract offer would be following a rigorous and lengthy trial of fitness, ability and personality then I'm really at a loss as to how anyone can view this as anything other than an absolute no brainer.

It may not work out, and that's fine because sometimes that's just how it goes, but I'm extremely excited about what we've got if it does.

2 years with the option of a 3rd on modest wages and highly incentivised is low risk considering all the PL money.

Keep him fit and focused and it'll be highly beneficial/profitable.

Worst case scenario at the end of the season we terminate the last year of the contract at no great expense.

Or a new contract in January - so many options.
Though a new contract for Leon Clarke had a reverse effect.

Exciting potential whichever.

We gave Ched Evans, coming off a mediocre fitness and performance record the previous season and with all the baggage that his signing would entail, a three year deal. If Morrison has shown he’s at a sufficient level at the very least he should have the McGoldrick deal of 1 year plus an option the club can activate for a 2nd year.

Doubt he is as fit as we and he would like and it will I expect take him a while, possibly until Christmas before he is in a position to make a positive contribution.
One year contract, we have option to extend for another one and then two years.
Decent basic and incentives for first team squad, bench, appearances etc. Is the way the deal will be sorted.
He can offer so much, must know this is his last chance and will know that Wilder is the man to get him focussed, not only as a footballer but as a person.
Glttl, hope he signs.
