You ok Kevin?
Which bit is wrong? He borrowed money from Macquarie and if Hecky hadn’t have got promoted to pay the bill we’d be in the shit.

how many players from 2018 onwards have we actually seen our money back for? N’Diaye, Ramsdale… that’s it?

Bogle, Osula, Vini, Anel & technically Benie?

I honestly can’t believe what I’m reading. He didn’t want to run the club when he owned it, that’s why he let wilder run.

Has everyone gone mad?
they seem to forget he was skint and tried to sell a couple of our players during a promotion push.... short memories mate👍

The Prince didn’t have enough money to bankroll a yo-yo club. But in most other respects was a better than average owner. Decision-making was generally ok (the big exception was not paying bills, which led to the points deduction). He seemed to understand football and where the club and city is - eg he kept ticket prices reasonable. It was a generally successful period on the pitch, and probably would have been even more successful if he’d had more money and hadn’t needed to cash in player assets.

COH have money (apparently), but none of the other things: no clue about football, wretched decision-making so far, no communication with fans, no evidence that they know how to create the conditions for success on the pitch.

The Prince in an influential role with COH money to pay the bills might just be a decent combination(?).

So, surely you mean he got us promoted, bringing in hundreds of millions that we've relied on since.

Players win matches, even managers are tied very closely to the short term. Above them, there has to be a long term view.

The last owner was unable to put things in place that would set the club up to grow without there being a single figurehead in charge of setting the direction for everything. United World didn't wotk ,or really do anything at all. For whatever reason people want to attribute, there was no ability to long term plan.

He spent what the club had and added what he could, in order to keep the lights on, try to support that seasins 1st team and manage whatever the situation at hand was. Nobody should argue that. But I think the kind of role the club needs to create now is one that focuses on what the club is going to look like in the medium and long term, and how to bring that into reality. I don't think he showed any aptitude or actions towards that end.

Yeah - I agree with that. I think the Prince did have a longer term vision to some extent. United World was part of that. As was the new training ground, Cat A academy, and redevelopment of the Kop. But he never had the funds to really get anywhere with any of those projects - as you say, it was all about keeping the lights on.

Which he did a good job of. I just don't think that's what's required now

I liked the Prince on the whole… but the fact that he would have happily sold us to two very obvious scammers without the EFL’s intervention leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Imagine just how fucked we’d be if either Maurice or Dozy had managed to wrestle hold of the club.

Would we be any worse than losing every game of the season so far? 😄

Excellent post! My thoughts entirely.

That good an owner that let those two in through the front doors.
