Open the bloody Kop next time please

Slightly on a tangent but I read about Watford’s policy of fans going on holiday. If they don’t inform the club and their seat is found empty then their ST can be revoked without refund.

The club say that if people aren’t going but have purchased an ST then they have to let the club know so that they can resell the seat. Weird rule.

In all fairness, I was sat on the JSS and when we conceded the Penalty, I shouted "Come on Simon" in my loudest voice and also was shouting come on United/Blades at certain intervals and got daggers from everyone around me for it. I like to credit myself with helping him get motivated to save it, but fucking hell I can't wait to get back onto the Kop.

I think it's fantastic that we're bringing up our youth to show zero enthusiasm at the match.

Long live the Family Stand.

It's definitely the right thing to do to leave that one open and close the Kop. Where would our kids go to learn 'League Cup manners' if not?

I really dont see what the issue is not opening the Kop again. The game will attract what, 15k max (with a 2/3000) coming from Sunderland. There is no reason to open the Kop. Throughout summer people were banging on about how inadequate it is, the facilities are poor etc etc. so why bother opening it when we dont need to. More atmosphere will be generated with 2 pretty full stands than 3 half empty stands. And if a kop regular doesnt enjoy sitting in one of the other stands they need their bumps feeling (i say this as a kop season ticket holder - due to the fact no one i go with will tip up for the south!)

The club could make it cheaper perhaps, but i dont think it'll make much of a difference. Its a school night so not too appealing for families, United will change the team again (and will most likely look to lose (i know a member of the first team staff who was gutted we got through!) - personally would rather we tried to win these games!) and we've Liverpool a few days later, which is what most non season ticket holders would rather save their money for

I agree with the numbers aspect, but from an atmosphere point of view, the only reason the atmosphere got slightly up against Blackburn was because the officials were so God awful. Otherwise it would have been the same as Walsall and Barnet, which were like local cricket matches, polite clapping, mostly silent.

We sing GCB but the side stands just aren't conducive to atmosphere creation. They can join in and play a huge part in a match, but you need the conductors on the Kop.

You could have put reclining leather seats in the Kop, with a footstool an ice bucket full of beer and a couple of (hooters style) waitresses bringing me pizza and chocolate throughout the game.......I still wouldn’t have gone.

You know what, I retract the message in the title.

If we're so passionate about losing every cup game, if it really means that much to us, then let's continue closing the Kop.
