Wilder has had his day and is now nothing more than a ‘yes’ man … tactically inept , won’t hold players accountable , happy to pick up a wage… he was found at Watford and Borough who both got rid sharpish…

Our owners have no clue when it comes to football and we only need to look over at S6 to see where that ends up

70% of playing squad don’t want to be here or are gonna be sold …

Unfortunately we are now in the eye of the perfect storm … it’s gonna get a whole lot worse before it gets better …

League 1 beckons

Just an ask from me. Dont ever volunteer to work for the Samaritans.

See enough in this first 45 to tell anyone who knows anything this:

Unless there’s significant upgrades

In mindset
In tactics
In coaching
In expected standard
In players on the pitch

It’s gonna be a long hard season that’s tough watch

Birmingham will rip through us first game of season.
Managed decline of the squad. Not good enough.

Our run, out fight, out play. Whatever happened to that?!

A draw against Bochum should seem like a decent result. However, our players didn't seem to have any formation. It looked like these players have never played together before. Hopefully things will improve if we sign the players we are linked with.

Massive shout-out to Sebastian from Bochum - he's their fan liaison. He's put up with a table full of Unitedites talking bollocks all evening and even dragged his missus out for a drink. Absolutely fantastic trip and apparently Bochum have been spot on with the football club.

It would be lovely to welcome them back, as long as Sheffielders would be as obliging as our German hosts.

Perfect pre season friendly to get us ready for the season ahead. Couldn't have gone any better giving the whiners all they need to be constantly whining all next fucking season.

  1. All the Wilder out boys are already giving it some. Apparently he doesn't know what he's doing, never has done and he should only be measured on his failings.
  2. Cannon's in the firing line already, thank goodness the keeper saved that shot today or that would really have pissed off the masses.
  3. Sydie is still rubbish (he's actually really good) and we should bin him off for 2 million.
  4. Chong's fucking wank, just played in the World Cup but we need to ship him back to Luton on a free.
  5. Today's game was really boring, no one got injured the week before the season so what a set of fannies they must be not going mental in a friendly.
Think I missed a few and the game wasn't good but fuck me some of you little bitches need to find a new hobby. It was pre season, a fucking run around and the biggest thing to moan about is the lack of signings. We all know we need players, most of us know where we need them but fucking crying over a nil nil draw is a measure of the modern football fan sadly. I want it all, I want it now... 😭😭😭

Absolutely spot on!

We got an away draw at a team that finished 9th in Bundesliga 2 last season and was playing in Bundesliga 1 the season before.

You'd expect them to be a similar level to us, and that was the case. They shaded first half, we shaded second half in an even game.

The difference is I doubt any of their fans are citing yesterday's game as evidence that Uwe Rosler is incompetent and doesn't know what he's doing.

I went yesterday. First half, we were absolute wank. Second half, we worked hard, closed down well and were generally much better. With Bamford, we score yesterday. I can't remember Vfl having anything in the second half. Bochum had mostly outplayed Swansea days earlier. I like Peck but I thought we looked more balanced once he'd gone off. I must give O'hare a shout out. Blimey, the bloke never stops running/working. The Vfl fans I spoke to after the game, praised the support. A great turnout for a friendly. Lots of empty seats where the computer showed they had been sold. Puzzling.

What a day to be a Blade yesterday.

Felt like a trip to Wembley but without the bitter ending. Surreal to see so many Blades shirts in Dusseldorf Altstadt last night.

Bochum locals seemed to be loving having the Blades in town as well. Old Bochum fan in the station after was keen to make the return trip to Sheffield next season.

Well done SUFC. Whatever we may slag them off for yesterday was a lifetime ambition fulfilled.

Koln stadium tour and a late flight back on the itinerary for today.

Lots of empty seats where the computer showed they had been sold. Puzzling.

Yeah it was strange, there must have been hundreds of empty seats for an end that was officially sold out. Surely that many can't have had delayed flights or trains or got lost.

Let’s keep it in perspective. It was a friendly with nothing riding on it. And the transfer window is open for a while yet. There will be ins and outs.

A legitimate time to judge will be after 10 games. If we are still looking slow and predictable and lacking in pace, power, height and flair then questions should absolutely be asked of the manager. But until then, there’s the benefit of the doubt and I’ll be keeping my powder dry in case I’m pleasantly surprised.
This is always the way I look at it.

It’s shite that we play preseason each year without most new signings, but that seems to be the post Covid way of doing business.

In the first wilder season in the prem we were making record signings almost daily and I think many were in for preseason. Those days are seemingly gone and the excitement now is that we have nice new away shirts and for many a trip to Germany which looked really good.

As you say, pointless to make conclusions about players or systems in preseason, it’s the first 10 games where we can judge.

I’d be surprised if Reidewalde and Peck start together, but looks like most players got a run out against decent opposition.

Safe travels back to those in Germany and onto Mansfield next week

The fact that Campbell & Cannon are next to useless as no.9s means we are over reliant on Bamford.
Why didn't we start with Oné in a friendly match where his progress could be tested ?
There is a conundrum in midfield as you say - I think Peck is a great player but Wilder needs to work out a structure which better accommodates him.
O'Hare never lacks effort - I wish others had his boyish enthusiasm for the game.

I went to Worksop yesterday to watch the Under 21's. No team sheet was available.
Does anyone know the name of the Blades number 9?

He worked hard against 2 very uncompromising centre backs. He was being dragged all over the place but never complained. Gave as good as he got.

Apologies for going off topic.

I thought I read/heard that the corner was sold out, then they opened up the section behind the goal for sale, so that wasn’t the sold out part?

Would love this to be a regular preseason game. Invite Bochum back to Sheffield next season and even better if we could also get Shaktar Donetsk involved to make the Twinned city trio
The Twin City Mini Tournament. You could sponsor it Swiss. 😁 Great idea though.

Out of interest who are the 70% of today’s squad that will either be sold or want to leave and how you actually know this. Or maybe you just made that up 😂.

I think everyone can clearly see work still needs doing with the squad in a few areas, but to have that outlook 2 weeks before a ball is even kicked in the league is ridiculous.
2 weeks mate… 2 weeks … you summed it up there

Should have said look they don’t want to be there …

Peck and Hamer will be sold IMO…

Cooper looked good the rest like they didn’t want to be there so probably more than 70% my mistake

The 2 sections on the corner sold out a couple of days before kick-off . They then opened up the final section behind the goal .
