Skeg Vegas again?I'm on holiday for this one, so at least I won't have to mix with the riffraff from the Kop again, on the South Stand.
Enjoy.

Ingoldmells.Skeg Vegas again?
Enjoy.
You’ll have to live with the legacy for months afterwards though.I'm on holiday for this one, so at least I won't have to mix with the riffraff from the Kop again, on the South Stand.
Can’t wait to be looked at funny for even daring to stand up, even when we score.
I know it’s only banter but where has this conception that the Kop mob smell/are tramps come from?
I’ve sat on G&H in the South Stand, and a good number of them could fit in at the back of the kop quite easily... you can smell them before you can see them
I don't understand it though, and I say that as a South Stand ST holder (with occasional frequents to the piss ridden Kop)Possibly the same jokey exaggeration you’ve just used?
As you say, banter, although halfway up Bblock in the South, there’s always the faint aroma of piss.

I got NME because I am clearly cooler than you![]()
Not wearing deodorant is my good luck charm for the match. Sorry.I know it’s only banter but where has this conception that the Kop mob smell/are tramps come from?

As a former subscriber to Sounds, I have to say I thought it was the opposite. I always felt the NME was a bit too ‘political’ and ‘studenty’ and looked down it’s nose at a lot of music that was quite popular at the time, like heavy metal. Although that may have varied over the years. My perception was that the NME would support any band, however bad, if they sang about how Thatcher was a twat over any band that sang about ‘Satan’s cock’ (or anything escapist).Sounds was for cool dudes - NME was for the masses. We always called it spunos - cos that’s what it said upside down!

The old “no one stands up when we score” fallacy.
I thought I’d made it up but I should have known better. The same goes for me albeit with a different genre. The NME wanted hip alternative bands but drew the line at skinheads/punks, who they treated with sneering contempt.
1980 - 82 saw the Oi! explosion and regular gigs locally at the George IV on Infirmary Road and The Marples in Fitzallan Square. The NME wanted none of it and championed a load of indie shite, wearing the correct baggy clothes.
BTW I've just googled 'Satan's Cock' and I have to say you surprise me BushBlade . What would your mother say!
Sunderland will be bang up for this, travel in big numbers and be as loud as usual, they have great away support.
The club is missing a trick here, very cheap tickets and give plenty away to schools/junior clubs will mean a good crowd and a great atmosphere under the lights against a big club who's fans are giving it plenty. We'll make a loss on the night but make a significant gain in support from the next generation. What's more, this should be done once a year in an early league cup round. Our nearest and dearest rivals are in dissaray and we are at our finest moment for decades. There will never be a better time to wrench support from them.
Tsk tsk. Sean giving away his seat location.
Watch out or Mr Angry could come round, burst through your protection squad of elite Chinese students and dig up a post you made 7 years ago on an entirtely different forum.
I was at the Blackburn game, I saw it with my own eyes.
The last time the club did anything to fill the ground ? Now lets think, how about winning promotion to the fucking premier league or doesn't that count.Yep. It's a very lazy effort from the club. No thought or effort whatsoever and nothing different. I can't remember the last time they did anything to try and fill the stadium. Now's the time to capitalise as you say and they need to get their act together.
No one stood up. No one? I did, so did the regulars around me. We always do.
Didn’t say no one stood up, but in front of me a significant amount of people didn’t. I’m not expecting there to be limbs at the first round of the League Cup, but come on...

How many fans do you think there were that wanted to be on the Kop so badly that they opted not to go at all rather than sit elsewhere? It seems absurd on the face of it to think that would've been a significant number but I'm all ears if anyone has anything to suggest otherwise.

Don’t think they will fetch a load though. Did you see the Burnley attendance?Me. Though I did buy tickets for the loyalty points. Didnt go though.
It'll be pretty shit when Sunderland fetch a load and we don't open our kop.
