The fact is that the fans don't care that much about the early rounds of the cup and most people know the clubs don't either. It was never going to be much of a game and I think anyone who was still interested enough to go probably did.

If we aren't even going to sell most of the John Street and South Stand tickets, opening more of the ground with the expense that comes with it is a bizarre idea.

It's about the fans not just atmosphere. I have only ever been on the Kop since my first game in August 1959.
So didn't go last night.

9000 was a good attendance (we’ve had less than 5,000 for these games in recent history). Loads of empty seats though, it was perfect opportunity for those with lower points totals to boost theirs.

Nah. We're a PL club now. Spunking money left right and centre should be standard practice as it's just peanuts and it will go some way to assuaging some people's recurring angst.

Unrealistic and totally unnecessary. More stands open means more stewards to pay. Football has always been better when watched from sideways on anyway

Not for everyoneI prefer BLUT to see the pattern of the game better. South Stand was pants sitting next to the Gobshite familycriticizing every missed pass etc. None of them looked like they could run 3 yards without stopping for another donut. Wish I'd had a few dozen to keep their opinionated gobs busy.

Yes it does. Stale sweat is far worse than the sweat of someone who’s clean but has started sweating. But deodorant is still a good idea if you’re going to a very crowded place. I don’t bloke smoke or vapour in people’s faces so I don’t see why I have to sit near someone who stinks. It’s 2019, not 1619.

I will not sit on the John Street Stand unless I absolutely have to (or if I take my daughter). And even then it would be kicking and screaming. The South is better, but I'm a kop man. I bought tickets for last night but chose not to go. Wanted the points.

Ricky is right, closing the kop makes it seem like less of a competitive game. I don't think Man U close sections off when they play early cup games.

Not wanting to get into an argument, honest, but people have all sorts of preferences, and if these can be met, so much the better. I have explained on another thread that I went in the South Stand last night, and I can see why plenty of people prefer it. But I always like to be as close as possible to the 'real' action, the goals scored and the goals prevented. I really regretted not being behind Moore when he made the great double penalty save - I am sure from behind the goal that would have been a 'wow' moment, given that it looked a decent penalty, and the skill in saving it appeared to be enormous. I prefer to experience those moments from the best view possible. We are all different.

Well said the Kop experience is quite unique well it used to be, when we were in 4th division I treat myself don't know why to an ST in South Stand. I missed the kop though and when it's in full voice is a magical place.
