O'Hare clearly isn't someone to start every game. He'll need about 10 from the bench

I think this is sort of the squad that will really test where you are the half full/half empty ometer...

We've been decent in possession without being significantly threatening, but we've been absolutely dire at the back.

Their approach is obvious. Crowd us out when we reach the edge of their box, then hoof it forward and try to get a chance on the counter. And to be fair, it's worked a lot better than we should have allowed it to.

The lack of pace at the back is so concerning. Trusty has been utterly anonymous, and Souttar absolutely isn't quick enough. Burrows often is too far forward to help (as he will have been told to do), so it comes to Gilchrist to cover all the time.

Up top, we've done okay without being spectacular. We're able to advance well out wide, but the final delivery isn't there. O'Hare may as well have not come out of the dressing room, he's done so little.

I'd bring either JRS or Campbell on for O'Hare at HT. Try and get some more movement in the final third, as it's just not there at the moment. And I'd give serious thought to replacing Trusty with RND too. I know he's more thought of as a wide player, but he has to be an upgrade at this point.

Cooper has done well. Can't really criticise him for the goal - that goes to the defence for being non-existent in front of him. He's played the ball out well and made a decent save. Compared to the other GK options, he's done much better.

With Souza on a yellow there's an argument to putting Hamer there and bringing Campbell on the left.

Then giving JRS a good 30 mins

Would like to see Brooks take on his defender more to the byline. Goal came from him taking him to the line. But on the whole our most dangerous player today.

Awful. Souttar essentially doing both jobs.
Cheers , what a shame , we have 3 L footed CBs and none is performing to the right standard just now.
Robbo poor last week ,
RND still not match fit and no one really knows if he will achieve previous levels
Which is perfect for Trusty to come in and claim a starting place ... But he's not developing and looks like another failed punt from last summer.
Can't really understand how he was so feted at Brum.

Well, I think it is quite promising given that this is a brand new squad. Sure, there's a lot missing in the final third and a bit too qute at times but I like the calmness, attitude and possession game. I'll hold judgement until around ten matches but I think it is encouraging.

They big question marks are central defence and I am also not sold on Moore and the strikers (even though Moore has had a decent start to the season).

Brooks has really come into his own. He showed glimpses last season and he is really excelling at this level.

Has anyone seen Burrows actually drive forward yet?

Plenty of tidy stuff, not got anywhere close to the byline

Haven't been able to watch , just relying on updates.
Souza gets regulation booking , was it deserved ? If he's going to disappear again like last week he needs hooking. Can't really see him doing a full 90 if he keeps getting booked and he'll be suspended at this rate.
If OHare is tired , replace him with JRS or Campbell - we can't afford passengers.
If Trusty can't take his chance then he is not developing and needs moving on. Wonder if RND is fit enough to come on ?
Wilder , you have umpteen subs , FFS use them sooner rather than later if players need hooking.

Was a bit of an unnecessary slide tackle. He got the worst of if himself because the Norwich player went for a tackle himself. The two collided and Souza got booked because he was a bit late.

It’s not
I reckon and its common sense really
Wilder is formulating his style with one eye on the Premier League.
He was there last season and should know what's needed.
Normally the answer is much better, more expensive players.
However we wont be spending 200 million so will have alot of this seasons players.

In the Premier league the key to success is possession and dealing with the press both in and out of possession.
Last season when our defence was under the cosh.....I'd have loved us to aimlessly knock the ball about for 5 to 10 minutes to releive the pressure.

Think Wilder calls it "taking more control of a game".

Agree though....overplaying can potential cause problems....suppose we'

Let’s not over complicate it… we get to the 18 years box and go to shit you can’t win games if you don’t shoot

A rest? We've only been playing two weeks!
Fuck me, a rest , how's he going to go on by November, put him in a care home for a week?
A rest, give me strength.
It's a bloody long season. Are we not allowed squad rotation to keep players fresh. We're lucky enough to have some decent options at the top of the field. No harm in rotating once on a while.

We all know that the strong likelihood is we lose this game 2-1….

We aren’t ruthless enough and we have a mistake in us
