Nope. If I have any vinyl it's purely for the aesthetics or the collectible value. For me, sonic clarity without fear of scratching the fucker to bits is where it's at, and I'm not even talking about super-hi-fidelity this range that range the other range quality either because in that respect my ears are a bit clothy.

These hipsters going, "Yeah man, like, Dark Side of the Moon sounds so vibrant on 200g virgin vinyl," will be singing a different tune in 10 years when their dog has scratched it, their kids have chewed it, and their partner has put it back in its cover with the inner sleeve the wrong way so that next time they take it out the disc drops out and rolls along the floor scraping the skirting boards as it goes. In other words, it WILL be scratched to fuck and they'll be wishing they had the surround sound 5.1 BluRay like I have.
I’ve bought much of my record collection again on CD because
1. It means I won’t damage them further.
2. I don’t have to turn it over after 20 minutes, I can just stick the album on and listen to all of it.
3. Can stick them on my phone.

Ooops, sorry man. Mind you hipsters get on my wick too, but I am a vinyl guy being an ex DJ, but I probably shouldn't say that I have some albums on 4 or 5 separate 45 rpm discs recorded on 1 side only for purity! I have a lot of LP's as old as I am but in much better condition sadly. :(

Are you Dj High-speed?

I did the same. Then I started buying tons more stuff on CD, because CD's became so cheap.

Now I have Spotify, so I rarely put CD"s on.

Suppose I need to sell them all now!

I don’t really get Spotify. I’ve got almost everything I want to listen to on CD. I can put what I want on my phone and I’m not relying on getting a signal.

Spotify is great at pointing you to new music based on what you listen to already. The discover weekly playlist is worth checking out once you have some playlists setup.

You can download to your phone so you don't always need a signal. Then link it to a Sonos system and add an Amazon Echo and you get best of both worlds.

Plus you can download it to your phone and also not be reliant on signal.

All new releases available instantly for no (extra) fee. It's great!

I do, yes. Next to fuck all. I still get a regular pittance, £10 a year if I’m lucky.

That might be because my band was crap, of course 😜

But what they pay is disgusting

How does the PRS work these days, Nick? I keep quipping on my laugh-a-month Progressive Alternative show that whenever I play a song "there's another 20p for you Mr Hillage" (random example).

Twas always thus Nick.

The royalty splits between the majors and online companies have, until now, never been that beneficial to musicians. Better than nothing I suppose, but it still amounts to very little.

Well Spotify pay per stream, which needs to last a minimum of 30 seconds (pretty much the industry standard across all streaming platforms). They pay between $0.006 and $0.0084 per stream, depending on how many you get.
