Neal Maupay

There's clearly very little chance we'll get him now. However, part of me hopes he stays and Brentford so we can resurrect this thread come January.

That's a very definite statement you are making about our chances of signing this guy. You must have inside information to be that certain?

Two or three weeks ago I thought this guy was on his way to us. In the last week I thought he must be going somewhere else, because it seemed "imminent" and then went cold all of a sudden. This suggested to me he must be considering other offers. The fact that nothing has been announced yet makes me wonder what the hell's going on with him - if anything it makes me wonder if it's still very much "on" with us?

It's about as interesting as Brexit though and I've got fed up of reading about it.

But, here I am again, contributing to this mammoth thread about a little Frenchman who couldn't make his mind up.🧐

The Brentford fans continually posting on here saying the exact same thing day after day is the most bizarre and boring thing I have seen on these boards.

You know what lads you have had your say but why keep saying the same thing over and over again? We understand you don’t want him to come to us and the likelyhood is he won’t but to comment on every piece of speculation is bordering on complete obsession. Part of pre season has always been about the fun of speculation and rumours 90% of it is pure shit but so what. You seem to have taken real umbrage at all these rumours. Don’t worry about it concern yourselves with speculation about your own club.

I am sure when he goes to another club you will take great joy in coming on here to take the piss even though the fact is you will still have lost your best player. It seems like the O’Connell and Egan thing has cut really deep!

No, I'm definitely NITFK, it's just my analysis of the situation. Several confidently predicted deadlines have come and gone, there's been radio silence on this deal, Maupay has never indicated he wants to come and most of all we've moved on to our next target by all accounts.

Yes. Thats right thicko. Cos Bournemouth still owe us money for David Brooks, therefore we write that off (or some of it) & get him. If you can keep up with the simple maths on this then it frees up the money for us to get Maurpay or McBurnie. Its not hard to follow.
Completely wrong I'm afraid Seth. We mortgaged the final two installments of the Brooks deal as soon as it went through (roughly £7m) so the payments from Bournemouth have gone straight to the lender of that loan.

OK, find me some, I'll take three, for cash and if you can just pm me some addresses, I'll nip out and take a look.

Oh to hell, it's just started raining, I'll take them sight unseen.

Each to their own mate but if I was paying that for a house (not that I would by the way) it would be somewhere much nicer than London , Kew Gardens or not it’s still London

People pay a premium to live in London because of the higher earning potential. Yeah, you could get a mansion in Lincolnshire for the price of a flat in London but it’s a lot harder to get a highly paid job in Lincolnshire.

Maybe I am thick (thanks for that, btw).

Are you saying that having written off the Brooks money owed to you in return for Mousset (who'll need to be paid, btw), that Sheff U now have MORE money to spend on Maupay, not less?

Or am I missing something?

Oh FFS. I give up.

Re my post #4,333, I should add that I was missing something - but I'm not the thicko! :D

Whether or not we are successful in our pursuit of Maupay or McBurnie or both,i do hope we have considered an approach for Cauley Woodrow,i think he could be this seasons championship success.

Such a shame you didn't give up before Balham Blade's post #4,329.

Who's the "thicko" now?
I may have been wrong. But i’m not the one obsessed with another teams forum. I may not be wrong though. Either way your still a twat.

Er, Brentford covers a wide area.

I was making the point that the flats in the new stadium development on Lionel Road are going for £500k+. I wasn't quite right - in the first release by the developer, the cheapest one bedroom flat is for sale at £435k, right up to the priciest two bedroom flats at £675k.

Which explains why the stadium is costing so much whilst still "only" providing 17,250 seats.

Benham could have got a bigger/cheaper site on some industrial estate or retail park, miles away from Griffin Park.

But being a fan as well as an owner, he was determined to remain as close to GP as possible. And Lionel Road was only possible because it's completely hemmed in on all three sides by railway lines, so other developers couldn't get planning permission without the accompanying amenity of a football stadium.

I'm surprised they are putting in 17,250 seats. Why have half the ground empty when they could have built another 10 yuppie flats?

No "may" about it, the irony being that it was a fellow Blade who showed you up! :D

Charming as ever. (Oh and it's "you're" not "your", so you're wrong about that, too. ;))

I just wish you'd be a bit... funnier or something. I've got many friends who are Brentford fans and they all have a sense of humour. Please get one before it's too late - I believe you can buy them in Tesco these days.

And without going deeper into the ins-and-outs of the West London property market, you might want to consider this.

Planning [permission and development funding for the new stadium was only secured because the site will also hold 900 flats (plus a hotel).

And currently, you can't get even a 1 bedroom flat in the area for less than £500k.

That’s what you said.

I know the Lionel Road site. This one bedroom flat is almost next to it

Obviously the flats are funding the development and Benham wouldn’t have proceeded if the business plan didn’t stack up so there’s no need to exaggerate.
