You must have been close to us then on the train, my daughter had her photographs taken with Simmo.
Great guy imo and responded to all the banter.
Got off with us at Vauxhall, for train to go home to Liverpool, probably via Euston as we left him at Victoria.
Glad you all had a great time.
I was " the old Blade" sat on the seat opposite where you lot were standing with Simmo.
Made me laugh when you sang we will camp at Simmo's house.
When asked by someone did he mind when you were asking him what was in his bag he said no as it might all end one day,and he said he hated Wednesday.
Top guy and top Blade.

If you can remember I was the tall bloke in a black jacket and green fred perry. Simmo was a good sport.

I have to take my hat off to Simmo.
hes been playing well this season & although there has been the odd mistake (which keeper doesnt make mistakes) he has been solid!

This is a reassuring story when professional footballers today are expected to be aloof from the fans and travel around in Range Rovers or other exotic 4x4s.

Takes us back to the days when players travelled to and from home games on the tram with the fans, and for away games (before Motorways were built) they nearly always used the train.

I was surprised with how open and honest he was with the fans. He didn't speak too highly of any of our managers last season, and said this season is like a breath of fresh air.

Last one I remember like that was Brian Howard after Palace a couple of years back, last game of season, before the Preston semi and the Burnley POF.

There will not be that many now that remember those days Broomhill.
Jimmy Hagan, Joe Shaw and Alf Ringstead all travelled for training at the lane on the No 35 Hollythorpe Rise bus at around 9.30 ish each day to the lane.
There were no trams in that part of the city.
Actually not that far from your old stomping ground if I remember correctly being off Carterknowle Road.
