The TC ball sitting was in response to Alan Ball doing it when they stuffed us 5-0 at the Lane. I saw both games and the crowd all knew why TC had done it and, if possible, loved him even more because of it. Top moment, top attitude. I think Ball was the first player I saw live to wear white boots - bigheaded poof was the crowd's response. Even today I like to see players in black no nonsense,no frills boots - got to try and keep their feet on the ground eh (easier to do with Higdon I will admit - he jumps like his feet are nailed to the ground) :D

Ball sat on the ball near the halfway line near the John Street touchline (Arsenal were attacking the Kop End)

As I recall he received the ball from Tom MCalister and sat on it at the Lane end on the cricket pitch side but memories do fade. I am sure Charlie George went steaming in but TC sidestepped him and gave it back to McCalister

Yep, that's it - it was at our end!!!! ..... corner of penalty area, Woodward on the floor nearer the corner flag - cricket pitch/BL corner side of the ground. I thought TC actually tricked George and then went up the pitch with it, but I can believe the back to keeper logic. I didn't see Currie actually sit on it, only get away with the trick to keep possession immediately afterwards - I was still staring at Woodward and then asking my Ma what the crowd were cheering at for a second time - big blokes in front of me blocked most of my view as they stood up to witness TC magic. Most of the crowd around us were then just laughing their heads off, back-slapping and shouting about what they'd just seen - that there was a game still on was kind of irrelevant!

Likewise, I was only 7. The following season was the first time I attended a game incidentally.
No idea what year my first game was. My memories seem to suggest it was against Aston Villa and we lost 3-1, at a guess it would have been about 1992-93.

Apologies, my first game was the season of the Leicester game.

A 3-0 home win against Wolves in mid March 1990.

God 25 years a Blade....get less for murder..

My first game stands out because I fell up the steps walking up the Kop coming out of the game and a kind woman gave me some sweets :D

Billy Whitehurst scored with a classic downward header that day (i think!).
