"We’ve taken a look at Cash’s stats from the 2019/20 season to get a feel for what he could offer Chris Wilder’s team.
While a spot on the right of Sheffield United’s back five is a little different to a role on the right of some other Premier League defences, Cash’s tackling and interception numbers remain significant.
He has completed 2.6 tackles per game in the 2019/20 campaign (all stats via WhoScored ), a tally bested by just six players in the Championship, many of whom play in midfield.
In contrast, no member of the Blades’ squad has averaged more than 2.2 (with Chris Basham leading the way and Enda Stevens just behind), while George Baldock - on the right for the bulk of their first Premier League campaign under Wilder - registering 1.6 per game.
Cash has also averaged 1.4 interceptions per game under Sabri Lamouchi, good enough for a top 50 spot in the second tier and a higher return per game than every United player other than Basham and John Egan.
He also doesn’t get dribbled past all that much, though his 0.8 times per game - while fewer than several United men - is higher than Baldock’s 0.5 average. He can beat Baldock on blocks, though the 0.3 per game return is less than the numbers posted by United’s centre-backs, either the regular starters or back-up options Jack Robinson and Phil Jagielka.
While a season-long return of five assists from 42 appearances falls into the ‘good but not great’ category, Cash’s chance creation remains impressive.
He has recorded 1.1 key passes per game - a tally bested by just two Forest players with 90 minutes or more of game-time and on a par with the likes of Gjanni Alioski and Helder Costa of champions Leeds United. Not only that, but this is Cash’s best per-season return in that metric since his Forest debut.
Only two Sheffield United players are north of one per game this season, and one of them - Oliver Norwood - is boosted by his set pieces. Even last season, playing for a team which won enough games for a top-two spot, no Blades defender could match Cash’s 1.1 per-game return.
However, while Cash is in fine company when it comes to key passes, his overall pass completion leaves a bit to be desired. A 70.3% return across the season is his best in a Forest shirt, but leaves him outside the top 200 in the division when it comes to Championship players with a number of appearances greater than the divisional average.
It’s a lower return than any United player with more than 10 starts in last season’s promotion campaign, while forwards Lys Mousset and Oli McBurnie are the only players with 10 or more starts under Wilder in the Premier League who have a pass completion lower than Cash’s this season."
