We need someone who can cross accurately and first time.

He's called freeman - he had a few poor game in defence and a load on here were clamouring for baldock.

As a few of us have said, Freeman isn't a good defender, but he is miles better in the last third.

Stevens after a poor 2nd half of last season, and a much better first half this season is once again showing signs of going very average again.

We take an absolute age to get a ball into the box - the one time where Norwood got one in early and all he did was put it nto the danger area was Billy got on the end of it.

We see week after week after week of looking for the perfect ball in - and as such a centre forward has no clue or idea as to WHEN to make a move across or in front of defenders.

Getting really really cross with this now.

I was being sarcastic C2N, but you knows I loves yer. ;)

Probably 40% to 50%, but it's tied up with quality of recruitment and ongoing motivation. Teams can waste a big budget, look at Man Utd. Teams can scout well and spend wisely, look at Kante & Mahrez

You think it's as little as that? I can't say I agree with you.

I don't think your Leicester example is particularly good either: They were 5000-1, no low budget* team before them ever won it, and it looks unlikely anyone will repeat it anytime soon - in short, I think it's a complete anomaly and shouldn't be used to play down the importance of budget.

We're getting beaten by the big boys and blaming the budget, we're not getting results against the poor sides and we're blaming the budget.

Trouble is, everyone and their collective dogs are beating Ipswich, Wednesday, Rotherham, etc big budget or no big budget. They are poor sides that for whatever reason we aren't getting results against.

I'm not blaming the budget for us not beating Ipswich: I'm saying that we shouldn't expect promotion based on it. (I'm also saying that any draw away from home [in the league] is justifiably a good result.)

The fact is, a lot of the poor stuff that we're doing at the moment is down to poor decision making on & off the pitch, not the budget. :)

True, but if you had better players (which generally cost more money) they would likely make better decisions.
Also, if you had a bigger squad (which again, costs more) they would be less jaded.

*I accept there's no definition for low budget, nor do I have specific figures - you'll have to go with me on this one.
