I think Jim's tweet is straight out of the "Kevin McCabe book of ambiguous statements"

And that's a big fu**ing book mate !!!!
One minute Beattie had a cold ..... next minute he's passed a medical and been sold !!! Lying two-hat.

I think the 2 million we got from the FA cup was probably only just enough to allow us to stand pat, so if we sell Maguire it should only be for a price that allows Nigel to get his number 1 targets like Coady and McGinn and saying Ayling on a free from Yeovil. 1 million is obviously not going to cover all of that, as well as the need for a new young centre back and striker.

I for one hope we can keep harry this year, but 1million plus add ons when you think about it,for a player in league1 who isn't proven at a higher level ,ain't far off really. That said, as others have mentioned,we might aswell keep hold of him and get the compo next year if thats the case.Hopefully we will not need to worry next year because we will be in the championship.

I feel that Harry will stay. If not, perhaps someone should contact Southampton to see why they always appear to get mega bucks when the sell, no matter which league they have played in.

It's a paltry and insulting bid by Wolves, if true.

I'm sure Harry will sign, maybe they delay is down to clauses. What will be will be. As much as we all want Harry to stay we don't want to club held to ransom by the agent / player. If they agent knows we have some money behind us he may be trying it on.

Every player has his price both in terms of sale value and wage. I wouldn't want us to blow the budget just on keeping one player.

Again it should be asked "how much would it cost to replace him". The same should be asked of every potential sale.

....I'm guessing the 'hold-up' is the figure for the release clause..?

My question would be, do we take the 1million now and build without him or have a 1.5/2.5 million clause ( or whatever it is) and risk losing him a few games in..it's a tough one ( if that indeed is the case?)

If we're honest the lad should be playing at a higher level, it'll just be a big loss ( not just on the playing side, of course we could get some in like Butler who would be more than adequate ) but as a player who embodies the club...be a sad day if he does go..

It could be that he'll sign on with the Blades but have a clause allowing him to speak to other clubs if we don't go up this coming season, and he's negotiating that. It's all guesswork though, I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

it will be another Currie/Birchenall/Jones/Tudor/Deane/Fjortoft/Macdonald moment
i think the backlash might surprise a few this time

You're not wrong.. Season ticker squasher unless they bring in Coady, McGinn, Sharp and a centre back. They best have their chips in place if they Sell Harry.

Surely not? 6 months ago, many including me would have taken 500,000 grand for him, though I doubt few will admit it now. I'll be really disappointed if we lose any of the main players from the foundations cloughs started to lay, but it would be a million miles from a Deane type scenario to me.

You may have, however I am not sure many would be accurate at all. I think the issue is with the game changing comment rather than the status of the player. That will come back to hurt the board.

It will only make a difference to those who love to have something to blame, which is a natural thing amongst football fans.

Game changing can, and probably only meant that we are going to stop selling anything with a pulse and start building. We've clearly done that. If players refuse to sign contracts then nothing can change it, it only becomes an issue of when, not if they leave. At a million or less I'd let his contract run out. Above that and you have to start considering offers.

Those with deeper pockets than the chairman are free to step in.

If we don't go up then I will be looking for someone to blame. We should be keeping as much of the team that finished last season together as possible. Obviously we have different opinions on Harry, however for me, to give up your best defender for £1million and still have to bring someone in to replace him as a business risk to our number 1 aim next season. I personally don't think there is any value in this risk, especially as we don't need to sell.

From what most people believe, Harry wants or at least wanted to sign a new contract before the weekend. Whether that has changed appears to have something to do with whether Richard Stearman goes to Burnley.

Above all of this, it gives me shudders that Neill Collins will suddenly be the lynchpin of our defence. It's pure madness in my eyes.

£1M isn't enough for Maguire, I agree. But if they took £2M would you be happy?

I don't believe anyone knows about Maguire's intentions, it's just the usual horseshit.

Whatever happens, there's no need for Collins to be the lynchpin of our defence, we will make some decent signings either way.

...and yet funnily enough, he's got young Harry out of the shit many times over the last couple of years.

Yep, it only takes a few good months for the selective memory of football fans to kick in. For me, there's not been a million miles between them this season - the differences being Maguires ability to push forward and chip in with goals, and the age factor.

You're probably going to have to help me out here and let me know when I have said anything about Harry. I also feel you and Foxy might be having selective memory over Collins too.

Relax, the selective memory comment wasn't aimed at you. But I can remember the general feeling about all our squad a few months ago when Crewe dicked us. Now, to some, our foundations will be rocked if one of them leaves.

I would be happier, especially if it improved the team. If you could bring in Coady, McGinn, a striker and a young centre back with the money we got (and currently have) then I would be all over it.

£1million is just bonkers and having him at the back could be worth more if we get promoted and worth the hit.

There must be some reyt clauses going into this contract for it to take this long.

Flynny signed,Harris signed, both ages ago and harry got his offer at the same time. There is something telling me harry ain't going to sign this contract and he is off for a very cheap sum sufc way i'm affraid.Harris could have easily played in championship next season and for me was one of the best players when he arrived,so it was good to see he commited himself to us so early.Come on harry make your mind up.
