Lundstram

I actually thought he wasn't too bad yesterday on the whole. The only player outside of the strikers who made an effort to get into the box on counter attacks.

However... Watching the highlights for the first goal and whilst its clear that Stevens and Osborne lose their man, you just cannot switch off like this when the ball is in our penalty area. He stops running a few moments before this but I've screen grabbed at this point to show him in full statue mode.

Basham, marking the number 14 almost gets back to intercept the header so if Lundstram plays to the whistle then he has every chance of getting there and stopping the goal. I actually think Baldocks positioning is quite good as he stops the drilled cross from there and doesn't know how many people are running in behind him.

In that image Lundstram’s man is the number 8 on the edge of the box. Surely if you’re asking questions of anyone it would be why does Baldock allow the free header and why is Egan miles away from where he should be.

the goal was pretty bad defending. I put on another thread the move started when osborn gave it away cheaply in the attacking third. He and also McBurnie took an age to get back into shape and the work rate collectively wasnt there at that moment to defend properly. We had the bodies but not the desire. That's the main thing to look at. I also think Wolves first was similar, Lunny with the lunge, Stevens jogging back and not busting a gut to get in position.

The issue is the center backs being caught flat footed, they should be where Baldock is (the most dangerous area and the most obvious/easiest pass for Bellerin to play).

I think where views on Lundstram are concerned there’s been a regression toward the mean-spirited. You could sense plenty that had previously judged him as shit, and were more than happy to mention this at every opportunity in the Championship, were uncomfortable with the idea of Lundstram being a shock success in the PL. They have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to return to the previous position of comfort, and the contract was the opening for this.

He is not playing well at the minute, but he gets a disproportionately large amount of stick from fans. And, frankly, always has done since he joined.

Surely the image also asks why do we have 4 players on our left side of the 18 yard box? - McBurnie should be in a more central position so he can pick 8 Lundstrum should be picking the space up closer to Baldock he then is also goal side of the other striker. In real time Lundstrum stays motionless throughout waving his arms about.

Baldock for some reason is central near the six yard box and playing the Arsenal runner onside, both him and Stevens are six yards away from their men. Then we have Lunny arm up appealing for offside and Osborn and McBurnie ball watching, WTF is McBurnie doing in our box anyway? Pub team defending.

McBurnie made his way back from being on the left touchline near the corner flag...Elneny who is chases spent most of the game in their right channel, that's why he is where he is as the arsenal player has moved from deep. Just rank bad defending from us along with nice play from Arsenal when you look at how they countered and moved us out of position

Regardless of whether we think Lunny is playing well, badly or indifferently, the indisputable fact is that the longer the season goes on, the more he will be trying to avoid injury.

And when he stops putting in a shift, Wilder drops him. While ever Wilder thinks he’s worth it, he will play him.

Or he gets injured and signs the contract, that's still on the table. If Brooks comes back he will be our new RCM and lunny will have to replace him

With regards to Lunny, it’s quite simple really - if you score and push your teammates away, pointing to your name with a face like a slapped arse, refuse to sign a contract because you’re billy big bollocks, and then make errors contributing to 7 successive defeats, then...

Yeah, I think Wilder needs to sort this situation out now. It’s dragged on far too long to the point it is surprising he hasn’t.

Would he drop to the championship though?

Just can't see any Premier League team being in for him to be honest.

His agent will have his work cut out to get him another PL team, his initial PL form now looks like the blip, and his just before Project restart form which continued into Project Restart and this season looks the norm.

Think ambitious Championship teams looking for a shithouse in midfield will be those in for him, teams like Bournemouth.

Good for player and club. Lunny can start a fresh contract with a new club, the club can make some money instead of him walking away for free in the summer.
He won't change how the season unfolds unless he is given a few more penalty shots!

Swap him for brooks

No offers came in summer , so there are hardly likely to be any in January ! This is non-news.

Wont offer an important first team player an extra couple of thousand but willing to spend 7/8 million on a right back who can’t even make the squad

Daft if you ask me pay then man what he wants
