Player Suggestion Luke Freeman

Now this one is out of the blue but would be an incredible signing if we pulled it off. An improvement on Duffy and at a good age.

No chance. He will go 5 plus mil We will be out bid

Ticks a lot of boxes. We have to have one eye on a long term replacement for Duffy, and in the meantime competition for him.Good age, works hard and we would own the player rather than borrowing him. You could look at Freeman and Egan and say that that's decent long term business. We could still do with a youngish permanent striker or two. That would make it a great window for us.Why United never signed both Freeman and Judge in league one will remain a mystery.

Would be cock-a-hoop with this signing, Luke Freeman is one of those players I have admired and hated, (because he's good) in equal measures....would be a brilliant signing.

Can't help thinking though that we will be trying to get him on the cheap considering QPR's position and will soon be gazumped by a team offering a more realistic fee and wages....it's the Blades way!

I think a lot assumed the recruitment would be:

Perm striker - Waghorn
Loan Attacking midfielder - Woodburn

I’m absolutely not against Wilder changing tack and it being:

Perm Attacking midfielder - Freeman
Loan Striker - Gallagher

This would seem to pit Billy and Leon against each other in the more forward role which probably also suits Leon more and Gallagher and McGoldrick in the no 10 or target man role.

It also leaves us well covered in the Duffy role and takes pressure off hoping Holmes can step up.

I also think the figures for Freeman will be more reasonable than Waghorn.

Credit for not starting a new thread.

Can't say I remember him but by all accounts sounds like a good player. Are we just starting the bidding for others to gauge and pip us to his signature? Only time will tell but seems CW not happy with losing a number 10 and Duffy or Holmes as cover

I remember him, I remember him well. I remember him playing for Stevenage at the Lane a few years ago and we just couldn't get the ball off him at times. He seemed to be able to hold onto it and dribble past everybody - he was very difficult to deal with.

I think he's been back to the Lane more recently than that though, and tbh, I didn't notice much about him last time, only that he'd plonked a lot of weight on.

Talented footballer - definitely.

He scored for QPR at lane last season... really good individual goal too.

Think West Brom will be the major competition - Boro are after Ojo from Liverpool and Phillips from West Brom.
PL clubs should be forced to use parachute payments to fund paying off existing contracts only. New players should be new investment only.
How can the likes of Rotherham coming up compete with WBA coming down with £100m in their back pocket. It's not a level playing field. They made the crazy deals in the PL they should suffer consequences.

Completely agree. I get parachute payments as a concept but it's taking the p*ss when such a large % of them are used to fund new signings. The amount used for new signings should be capped.

I know it's not my money, and I understand football doesn't work like this but he's the one target I'd push put the boat for. Pay him and QPR what they want.
Win him over before it turns into an auction. I wouldn't care about losing out on Waghorn if we got this over the line.

We show ambitious interest in a good player. S2 sees it as an opportunity too good to be missed, to knock our own club. Perhaps we should just look to recruit garbage that nobody else wants?

It’s the Bladesfans’ Way.

Imo this is the signing we need. Long term 5-6 year replacement for Duffy. Would immediately improve the side imo and hopefully attainable with qpr’s financial penalties.

Fingers crossed for this one - I’d much prefer to Woodburn on loan.

Love this to come off.

What are you on about?!

The blades above are obviously just excited at the prospect of interest being shown in what would be a great signing, but also wondering whether we can afford him or not.

I didn't see any club knocking, just the usual chip on your shoulder showing itself again.

Haven't see anyone knocking the club. Is this another one of your overreactions to something that's been said, that was never said?

No chance.

On the cheap.

Dead in the water.

Wages.

End up at Millwall.

All symptomatic of a negative attitude towards the club we ‘support’. There are no shortage of examples, day in: day out.

Fax machine, anyone?

Freeman is a southern lad, hails from Dartford and has so far played his whole career pretty much south of Watford so far....(OK Bristol City was south-west)......I wouldn't be surprised at all to see geography play a major part in his final destination...and could see him at somewhere like Millwall or Reading as previously suggested. Not too sure about Brentford as they have a couple of players already in that position.

Other than location why would he go to Millwall over us?
Boro, Derby, Leeds etc but we aren't losing out to Millwall on this one.
