Lewis O’brien

Hes basically wasted a year of his short career but it's likely to be the most financially rewarding one of his so far too...Players should do as much homework on the clubs they are joining as the clubs do on the players.

What a mess regards Blackburns attempts to sign the highly rated Lewis O'Brien.

Initially it was 3 clubs in for him but WBA and Sheff Utd retracted their interest mid afternoon on the final day.
Leaving Blackburn with an open goal, the player was at the club having a medical during the evening and all they had to do was tap the ball over the line.

Blackburn have said that the reason they didn't get the paperwork in to the EFL by the 11pm deadline was
"complex negotiatons and events beyond their control". The EFL have taken their reasons for a late application into account and stil rejected it.

Apparently Blackburn also tried to sign a young player but that application was also handed in after the 11 pm deadline due to not having signatures on the paperwork.

The EFL have told Blackburn they now have a right of appeal but it must be submitted before 7 February.
To be honest can't see them winning their appeal as it was their incompetence, no one else to blame.

The youngster was the Rochdale lad on trial with us last week.

In no man's land now. Left out of Forests squad for the rest of the season. Oh well

Yeah nightmare for him. Maybe we can get him even cheaper this summer. Definitely be a good squad player for us, particularly as low on numbers in midfield - especially once some contracts expire.

im sure if we get promoted he will be one of the players we would be after perfect replacement for fleck in our system if we could get him for 10m it would be a good deal for us imo

Forest were happy to let him go to Blackburn on a pre agreed deal that if they got promoted this season then they would sign the lad permanently in the summer for £8.8m.

So you would think that if we do go up, we could potentially pick him up for a similar fee or possibly even less.

When we get promoted we'll be looking elsewhere, especially with all this Nigerian monies we're getting!

yeah possibly just think he would suit our system perfectly reminds me of fleck when he was at his prime with us im sure hecky will be keeping tabs on him this summer

Farcical really that we have a system where a good young player can't play in this country for the remainder of the season.

Don't think we're allowed to play Coulibaly, he runs with the ball sometimes. That is unsafe.
have to agree think hecky is playing far too safe in the last month and worrying about the opposition too much were at our best playing our own attacking game actually dont think this points gap is doing us any favours either its as though were just trying to protect our lead over other teams 2 very big home games coming up lets get after both swansea and middlesbro im sure our fans will respond if we go out with this attitude

Get him in bettis

Get him in from yankland and get him in our midfield he would walk into it and would be an improvement on Doyle IMO

Surely forest would either accept a loan or a smallish fee

Not sure we know. We may have delayed things. But it was his move to Blackburn that fell through.
I'm sure Hecky will have dealt with it the right way, he's a people pleaser.
I just don't want us to have burnt any bridges.

I would have loved O'Brien to be on our radar this summer but DC have the option to sign him permanently which you would imagine would be taken up if he does well.

Im sure they would but if he doesnt wanna sign then he wont be staying you would think

If it's agreed before he came that signing permanently was part of the deal then presumably he has agreed to that prior to joining them but don't know to be honest.

Possibly Not many players who would play in that league in there peak years though , they must be offering decent wages
