Like the majority I've always preferred black shorts but I'm now wondering whether it would be worth experimenting what navy or midnight blue shorts would look like in a Blades kit?

May I need a tin hat for just merely trying to suggest this?
Just do an update of the 02/03 away kit; thought that was under rated kit with the midnight blue and red trim.

This was pretty much the perfect kit for us IMHO - 2017-18

Although this one was pretty close:

Or indeed 97-98

That middle kit is, IMO, as close to my ideal SUFC kit as I can think of. Perhaps occasionally with a collar as per the Wards kit below.

Then, I got to thinking, all this chat of the ideal Blades kit - was there ever a first inception of the model kit, the one we can all hark back to - after which all others were a slight variation on a theme but not strictly adhering to basic criteria because we've chucked in too few stripes, or a plain back, or white shorts of the like...? I don't think a core 'legendary' kit exists, does it? Weirdly, I think the Laver kits carry the greatest folklore without meeting many of these criteria.

Then, mattbianco1 creates this below...and this to me, is it. Which is that Errea kit of a couple of seasons ago.

The issue is, and was, good idea/design, shite quality and execution and not worth paying for at the time.
Judging by the votes

BLACK SHORTS is a unanimous choice (138 votes to 8 & 5)
SOCKS - Black just edging out White (67 to 60)

And BLACK PINSTRIPES are the preferred choice of (88 to 60)

So there it is... the ideal SUFC kit:
