Does say a lot about the standard of the Premiership when 3 of Fulham’s central midfielders from last season; McDonald, Johansen & Norwood, find themselves back in the Championship again this season.

Even Sessegnon isn’t starting all of the games for them up there and I don’t think Cairney is getting great reviews when he plays.

We all talk about the £100-200m you receive for promotion, but how many new players would we need to be in with a chance of survival if we did somehow manage to reach the top tier? 6-7 first teamers?

Fulham simply bought too many players - can’t knock their ambition but they lost all their momentum and partnerships were broken meaning the likes of Cairney and McDonald have lost the edge and confidence they had before

It’s better to follow the models of Bournemouth, Burnley, Brighton than what Fulham have done and it shows.

McDonald, Cairney, Johansen are easily good enough for the Prem in the right set up.

Very much agree with this.

What they had was a good unit and they messed it up by signing a lot if decent individuals but who were not part of an established, cohesive team.

Probably part of the downside to having others involved in your recruitment. I'd take any of those as a good addition to our midfield.

If we did go up, I'd not want us to throw the baby out with the bath water. You could see Lenihan bought in to rival Bash for instance but I'd like to see Duffy, Basham and O'Connell get a chance to play the 'Duffy role', 'Basham role' and 'O'Connell role' before we turned to others. They've made the unique system work as much as the system has worked for them.

Not giving PC a further year, with a FULL pre season, imho would be a big mistake.

Unless there is undoubted evidence that he can never fully recover from the injury, to which none of us are aware of but maybe the medical / fitness team may be aware of.

If so, it’s a rather sad end to the Blades career of a player that will always be remembered in a very positive light.

I commented yesterday that there were a handful of Norwood Hollywood diagonal passes that went astray that would never have happened if PC was making them. For all of Norwoods obvious qualities, retaining possession at the rate PC does, is not one of them. He never ....(you know the rest) !

With what Akinbiyi has brought to this thread, it does make you wonder if PC has been told his contract will not be renewed and his mystery illness of yesterday was a mutated strain of the Beattie flu !!

I'm sure that Tufty will have targets and plans for next season ……. the problem is that we need to acquire committed owners who DO have some money and are prepared to invest it into the Club and to take the Club forwards

The pair we do have aren't much help whilst they are swinging handbags at each other instead of concentrating on driving the Club forwards ……

The fees for Hogan and Madine aren’t exactly going to be a pittance. And in my view they’re pretty hard to price right now as our valuation would (rightly) be miles away from Villa and Cardiff’s valuation

I've no doubt we have an A list, B list and maybe C & D list in terms of possible signings and departures in the summer. One will be if promoted, one if we're still in this division and an alternatives list for both. There are no doubt a few names on all these lists, doubtful if there's any duplication across the lists. Nothing will be firmed up until next seasons level is known. In other words, nowt has been decided at this point in time. I'm not particularly ITK (and if I was I wouldn't disclose on here) but it'd be daft to agree anything at this stage.
